  yes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.

  i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.

  as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

  Yes, new releases with per-item production costs of next to nothing (especially now with those thin little magazines, brochures, and tracts), all produced tax-free and by slave labor. And a lot of those new “releases” now are in an online, downloadable format (everything is, right from the Bibles and songbooks to their own in-house videos and animated Caleb and Sophia cartoons) – which ends up costing practically less than nothing!

  It’s amazing how many expenses they seem to come up with for a completely volunteer and tax-free organization. The amounts automatically allotted to be passed onto the Watch Tower headquarters from circuit assemblies (now “special assembly days”) sound to me more like arbitrary corporate dividends than actual “expenses.”

  It kind of reminds me of how CEOs of large government companies keep conveniently voting raises for themselves (for example, Hydro-electric enterprises).

  And, of course, whatever amounts the Watch Tower headquarters recommends for themselves, they know that that is what they will always end up getting, one way or another, as a phantom “expense.”

  Follow up: the baby did not survive

  it was always a long shot anyway.

  but, after a week of emotional pain for the mom, and extreme physical pain for a helpless infant, the baby's body finally succumbed.. all those prayers from the parents, from family, from friends, were absolutely worthless.

  that is a deity for ya!

  The JW religionists have all their bases covered:

  If the child dies (as has so unfortunately, often, and needlessly been the case), then it is thought to be Jehovah’s way of providing an opportunity to show faith, trust, and loyalty to Him in awaiting a resurrection while, in the meantime, supposedly being the impetus for the parents to keep preserving (enduring) in the WT religion down “to the end” so that they might (hopefully) one day be reunited with that child. (Of course, one ridiculous aspect of it is that quite often the child had to end up dying in the first place due to the WT’s extreme fundamentalist and cruel interpretation regarding blood transfusions!)

  Yet, if the child is still currently living, then it is thought of as apparently being an opportunity to show Jehovah how one’s faith and comfort in Him (a.k.a. the WT) can help one to COPE with the trying situation at hand.

  So, in other words: Whatever happens, trust in Jehovah (i.e., the WT) to make everything all better.

  Exactly! When organizations such as the Watchtower corporation attempt to enforce their disingenuous and self-serving little rules upon their millions of mentally captive adherents, then they are, indeed, operating above the law – the basic law of the land which guarantees freedom from such egregious abuses of power.

  Book study this week...more trumpeting over the organzations greatness

  you know, there are some studies that are painful to sit through because of the blatant lies or bull shite spewing from the platform.

  then there are those that seem to have no reason for even taking place.. such was the case for last nights congregation bible study.. all it did was talk about how many books and magazines have been published over the years and "aren't we wonderful that we print so much stuff"?

  this is a study into important biblical things?

  One statement in this week’s congregation study in the book God’s Kingdom Rules! which I found rather disturbing was this:

  “But just think! The King has caused his ordinary people to become a publishing powerhouse, producing some of the most widely translated and distributed publications in history!”

  Now, this is very telling as to the true nature of the “religion” of the Watchtower Corporation. When some people refer to it as just a publishing/ real estate investment corporation, they’re absolutely correct!

  my wife was talking to her sister today and apparently our adult niece who has cancer is not doing to well lately and it doesnt look good for the future.. i cant say we ever had a very close relationship with her but when we did see her she was very affecionate and just a very loving girl with a great personality .. she was never a jw and we lived in different states but from time to time we crossed paths with each other at family reunions etc and sometimes funerals and weddings.. when it hits close to home thats when you feel it.. no doubt many of you have gone through similar experiences yourselves , this same sister my wife talked to lost her 14 year old son to cancer many years ago and i being a new convert tried to comfort her with scriptures .. dickhead that i was then ..

  I’m so sorry to hear about your “adult niece” who has cancer. It has always absolutely sickened me whenever I would hear about anybody who has developed cancer. However, please be assured that the treatments for cancer have quite dramatically developed in their effectiveness within the last ten, or even five years. Everyone is most definitely on the winning side of the game right now – thanks to the ever-developing science.

  read in the new york business review that jw.org made 1 bilion property revenue since august 2016.. unbelievable, isn't it?

  they are one of the richest religion organizations in cash flow, for sure.. the co asked us this morning to "overthink wat we can share, to support the work and make jehovah happy".. g..

  i've seen claims over the years that wt is in the real estate, book publishing business and is a for profit enterprise at it's core.. can those of you that believe this to be the case tell me who benefits from all this wealth?.

  the governing body lives in relatively humble conditions no?.

  i've been curious about this for a while.
