I don't go around bragging about it. I will tell people if it's appropriate to the situation or conversation. I wasn't raised in it.
When I run into JWs, I don't tell them I was a JW. If it comes up, I will tell them truthfully that my sister and brother are JWs, so I know about the KH, conventions, etc.
I recently made a comment on a facebook page for the town where I raised my children. I noticed a brother I knew in the congregation. Without thinking, I said to him that I didn't realize he was 9 years older than I. Then I thought, man, I better remove the Christmas profile picture and cover picture from my fb before he sees them. A couple of hours later, I got the kindest, sweetest e-mail from him. We exchanged some messages where he told me about his health and his family. He had been a ministerial servant back in the 1980s. I could tell he was still active, probably an elder by now. I realized I must not have been disfellowshipped or announced, or he would not have responded and been so genuinely kind and glad to see me. That is the first time I have spoken to any JWs from that congregation, my last congregation, since 1999. Even then, I had been inactive since 1991.

by DATA-DOG ini could go on and on about my personal journey over the last 2 years or so, but i don't need to.
everything i needed to hear to finally lay my doubts to rest happened on one meeting night.
it could only be divine providence.

They study the same stuff the same week all over the world. That proves that they are fittly united in one line of thought and thus are God's baby.
But they don't mention that Roman Catholics and Anglicans have their books of prayer that are read daily, around the world, same things, different languages. The Sunday masses/services/liturgies/Eucharists come from the book and there is a daily office for everyday of the year. They read the same passages from the old testament or new testament, depending on the time of year, the psalms and the gospels, all over the world. IN the Episcopal Church of the Americas, they read the same Eucharistic prayer and prayers of the people on Sundays. There are pages for weddings, funerals, baptisms, christenings, etc. etc. It's organized with some freedom to customize music, sermon, etc. And the sermons are short, 10-20 minutes and often based on something from one of the gospels. In the Episcopal Church they are usually very positive and uplifting. Hmm. That and you get to sip wine. They welcome anyone.

shock horror! WITNESSING ATTIRE NOW CONDONES OPEN-NECK SHIRTS FOR MALES!
by steve2 ingo to jw.org right now friends and you will see a young male jw witnessing in a rural setting with publication in hand and - take careful note - wearing a crisply-white open-neck shirt.
bring out the carnival, light the lights: the organ ization is kicking itself into an ongoing casualization of its rank and file.. in the 1960s through 1980s i know brothers who dared to attire themselves sans ties who were reprimanded or worse.

What is incredible and ridiculous, even cruel is asking sisters to go out in skirts during frigid weather. It used to get down to 28 below in Chicago, windchill factor 40 below, fahrenheit and sisters would go in service in skirts, tights and boots. Crazy!

Maybe he is informal witnessing. I have to say, when JWs come into my work, on a Sunday and even their boys are dressed in ties, they look so out of touch with the times it's so sad.

Honest survey question on effectiveness of 'apostacy'
by Simon init seems like lots of people have big dreams of 'destroying the watchtower'.
it's usually linked to a story of how they were wronged and want some revenge.
do these 'in your face' attempts to convince people that the truth isn't the truth really have an effect?.

I agree with your first statement OP, Simon. I believe a huge percent of JWs have a growing list of things that they find questionable. If you can, like you say, plant seeds and add to that list, it's a good thing.
Even when I was convinced it was the truth, I felt I would not be able to resist looking at apostate literature if I had chanced across it. I secretly wished that I could take some literature from the people at assemblies or that someone would send some. I was curious. Just simply curious.
