Is Faith Immoral?
by Coded Logic inwhen people willfully believe something without evidence, or contrary to evidence, are they neglecting thier moral responsibility?
so many people say faith is a virtue but i just can't comprehend why anyone would think that.

9yr old girl kills her gun instructor with an uzi
by EndofMysteries inhttp://www.cnn.com/2014/08/26/us/arizona-girl-fatal-shooting-accident/index.html?hpt=hp_t2.
"a 9-year-old girl learning to fire a submachine gun accidentally killed her instructor at a shooting range when the weapon recoiled over her shoulder, according to arizona authorities.
another reason to go against those arguing that young children should be taught how to use guns.

My sister in law's son bought her a small gun to go in her purse, for protection. He took her to the shooting range and taught her to shoot. Guess who killed herself, while cleaning her gun? Her husband hated guns. He's lost his wife and best friend. The two sons have lost their mom.
I'm not against owning guns. They are very dangerous, though.

Who ever felt like they were worthy, according to JW's view, of living forever?

I Offer You This Choice
by simon17 insuppose the following choice were offered you, and you had to choose one or the other.
which would you pick (and perhaps why):.
1) you can continue living your life as it is, die when you might, and that's that.. 2) you can instead agree to die in 1 year in exchange for this: you will be granted access to the entire past and future history of intelligent life in the universe.

I have faith that this thread will accomplish nothing more than to send posters with opposite views further into their corners.

How to Avoid the Faithless Spirit of most here-
by DocHouse in1- pray to god (whomever you may imagine him to be) asking for understanding.
2- study the background about the bible (from non-religious sources) to see where it came from.
3- discard (or at least set aside) chuyrch claims and dogma.. 4- read it, looking up archaeological/historical sources about the places and peoples referred to.

You guys must know that DocHouse isn't interested in a real discussion, he just wants to pop in, get his shots off, and move on to the next topic.
To be fair, it kinda is his thread. Who says his intention was to to debate this with any of us?

but in this stressful world with sooooo many sects, faiths, religions, philosophies.....most of us should be given a "pass" just for surviving this mess without losing our sanity and trying to do the best we can to "play nice."
Certainly if we can cut each other and ourselves slack, then a god could, too. Hopefully God would be as aware of these factors as you or I am. If I am intelligent enough to see there are extenuating circumstances to everyone's unique story, then we hope that God is, too. I'm a theist, but I know that the god portrayed in the Bible is at worst a monster bully, a cretin and an abusive parent. At best he's alienated a lot of people with his inconsistent, split personality. You might find it helpful to look into the concept of universalism. If you need some ideas of good things to read on it, PM me.

Fun. I love the Beatles. I love Paul. I haven't been able to see him. I got to see George though, when he was on his Dark Horse tour in 1974 with Billy Preston and Ravi Shankar and his orchestra. My ticket cost $8.50 and I was close enough to see him walk down to get water, beside the stage. I had just got my leg out of a cast, so I couldn't go down the stairs to speak with him, like others near me were able to.

The myth is that JWs are the only denomination that studies the same things at the same time. The Roman Catholic, the Anglican and Episcopal prayer books are used to guide what will go on every day of the calendar, what readings will done, what eucharistic prayer will be said, what Saint will be remembered, etc. There are different colors used at different parts of the year, for instance blue for advent, white for Christmas, Epiphany – Green, Lent is purple, Good Friday is black and pentecost is red. The churches are generally much more organized than the JWs know. The big difference is there isn't pressure to be uniform.
