How the Society have failed our youth
by truthseeker inwhen you think of how much talent and creativity young people have, isn't it a shame that the watchtower bible & tract society has done absolutely nothing for the development of young people?.
they can print a'young people ask' article on the use of cellphones, they can produce a video on how to make friends, and they can release a glossy tract about what will youths do with their life, yet they do nothing to promote 'youth' in the organisation.. generation after generation of young people are subjected to 5 boring meetings a week, an endless supply of doors to knock on and an endless amount of literature to read, study and mediatate on.. i'm not sugessting for one moment that all jw youths/young adults are miserable and bored in the organization.
some seem to have gone through life with ready made friends in their congregation, no bullying at school, steady jobs and some sort of 'career' in the organization, whether it be pioneering or bethel service.. but there is a saying that ignorance is bliss and this is true of the religion a lot of us were raised in.. how may churches do you know have services for young people?

Most Witnesses I know barely know how to be social.
Sad but true. This is one worry I have about my children. Other than each other, they have no friends. I don't know how to fix this.

hope that Peter Jackson does the Hobbit. He's talked about it.
I couldn't agree with you more. From what I saw with one of the interveiws with him, he wants to, just waiting for the movie company to give him the thumbs up. He would like to use some of the original characters. I hope he gets the green light.

I took my oldest three to the midnight showing of it. We watched the first two parts right before, then off to the movies. We all loved it so much. I am kind of sad that it was the end. I think eveyone should see this movie. Well, I think all three were great. I cannot wait until the extended version of this comes out. All 4 and 1/2 hrs. :)

There have been some comments after the summer release of this publication on this forum, most of those comments expressed how this publication was not for the young ones
I do agree. I was told this was for children 2 and older. After I read it, there is no way I would just leave this book around for the kids to pick up and read. My mother, who is a witness, feels the same way. She is, her words,"appalled that they would print some of this stuff. This is not just about Jesus. What were they thinking?" and I wonder the same thing. What were they thinking.

love bombing meh
by Mysterious ini keep hearing how everyone posts and says that no one in the congregation noticed or cared about them..i have the opposite problem.
i can't get sick of miss anything and they are all swarming around me "making sure i'm okay" telling me "how much they missed me" and some of them quite sincere about it.
i just wish they would all leave me the hell alone.

Could it be that with the dubs it's either one extreme or another?
I have to say, I never seen the kind of caring you are talking about. My mom and I were talking. She says that she knows there are imperfections that she sees, and knows Jehovah sees them too. In the new system, they will be fixed. She wont leave, ever. They love Jehovah, so she will stay. I have seen my mom miss meetings, her dad died, her husband died, and no pouring out of love for her. She says, it's ok, they all have their own problems. I think it is their lack of love that had me start questioning. Even though it is driving you crazy, hey at least they show love in that kh.
Just trying to find the bright spot of it all.

I am wondering if this book "Learn From the Great Teacher" is like the old pink "Great Teacher" book. Has anybody here seen it?
I have a copy of the new book. I was told it was for children 2 and up. No it is not. My 3 yo does not need to learn about "someone may rub your sex organs. Or they will even rub their sex organs against yours" Sorry, but sex ed is what I teach my kids, not what they read at the age of 3, or 6 or 7 from a book about Jesus.
Yes, it is a horrible crime. But I wonder if they ony put this in their book so they can say, see this is what we really believe. Not to protect my children. My children learn from me. I just think they crossed this and a few other lines with this publication.
Just my 2 cents.
