Another Galling Meeting!
by Nicholaus Kopernicus inyesterday's meeting was again, quite soporific.
however, i felt indignation when it came to paragraph 16 of the watchtower catechism.
it reads..."the remarkable growth that we see today is the result of our faith in god and full acceptance of the bible..."i won't deal with the first part of that sentence here, but the claim at the end - this is just an outright and most egregious lie!

Did not know that about the Statement of Purpose being deleted from the inside cover of the Watchtower.
Interesting post and yes truly disgusting about the mind control being exercised by this maniacal gb.

Conclusion
by Esmeralda001 ini decided to put an end to my affiliation with the jws for good.
this decision is not the result of an irrational impulse.
it is quite the contrary.

Toxic people are poison to the soul. Good for you for having the strength to recognize and take action.
MANY people in the world are more friendly than Witnesses. It is a fake religion full of fake personalities.
Please be good to yourself and thank you for sharing your experience.

Living as Christians at the C.L.A.M this week
by Truthexplorer inthis weeks meeting under the section - living as 'christians', starts off with 'repentance makes a difference', which is a talk given by an elder taken from w06 11/15 27-28 par 7-9. in a nut shell it discusses those who have been disfellowshipped and then show repentance.
it then goes on to discuss reinstatement and how a certain amount of time must pass by before this can take place.
it makes the following point in the paragraph.. 'a disfellowshipped person is not automatically accepted back into the congregation after a certain amount of time has passed.

The Watchtower is a brutal organization. They truly are a "ravenous wolf" (Jesus speaking of the false prophets that would arise).
They are an Abuser in every sense of the word.

For me once I DA'd it was the fear factor that hit me. But then it passed and I'm slowly getting my wings. It's been over a year.
Remember you are a cult survivor. Be nice to yourself.

Reasons for NOT Returning
by Saved_JW ini left the watchtower in the winter of 2008. my first year out was by far the most difficult.
i had every intention of returning to the watchtower for the very purpose of being able to speak with my friends and family.
i had already concluded that the teachings were not the "truth" [after reading crisis of conscience] so coming back was more emotional then anything.

An important scripture for me when I DA'd in 2014 (after twenty years) was John 14:6, which I put in my letter to the elders.
Jesus says there "I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Great post.

Has Watchtower financial strategy taken a very dark turn?
by slimboyfat inas shepherdless pointed out on another thread, the watchtower business model of using free labour to produce and sell books and magazines for profit started to break down when charging for the literature ended in 1990, and has now begun disintegrating completely in the face of the internet and declining donations.
over this same period there has been a noted increase in hardline rhetoric on disfellowshipping and pushing early baptism.
might these hardline trends actually be related to their money woes?

Great point about the GB being amoral Phizzy. Never thought of it like that. But they are. -

Governing Body Letter details things that "have never been done before." - Really?
by cappytan in[note: copy/pasted this with permission from reddit.].
once each year, the governing body writes a direct letter to the congregation members included in the yearbook.
in his annual message to the catholic faithful (urbi et orbi) delivered on christmas day, the pope spoke about world peace, terrorism, and the refugee crisis.

Thanks for the great post cappytan.
What a bunch of rubbish and mind control this cult is. The word "delightful" stood out for me. They even tell people how they should feel about this crap.
F**k this cult as Wing Commander wrote so elegantly. :)

Someone can be a publisher reporting just 15 minutes a month if elderly or infirm. If that wasn't the case I wonder what the adjusted average publishers would be. -

Hello all
I was in the cult for twenty years and DA'd in Sept. 2014. As time passes I feel that I am ready for more healing. The fear has passed of being out and I'm never going back to the funny farm.
An excellent book I came across for current and former JW's in the healing process is "Exiting the JW Cult: A Healing Handbook" by Bonnie Zieman. It's available on Amazon Kindle for $6.99. She is a licensed psychotherapist.
I am currently reading Steven Hassan's excellent book "Combatting Cult Mind Control..." We all have psychological wounds from being in the Watchtower, and I had thought of actually getting therapy myself, but didn't because of the time and expense. Plus what psychologist would really understand being in a cult.
Anyway hope this post helps someone.
