Cedars is of a type. I've met quite a few similar people over the years and I recognised him for what he was from day one. Basically charismatic but totally political in everything they do and say. Everything is done and said with an end goal in mind - the eventual adoration of those around him.

CEDARS (Again) Is it really about religious beliefs?
by Listener injohn cedars has posted his latest blog "the trouble with apostates (and why it shouldn't put you off becoming one)".
i acknowledge that he is entitled to his opionin just as we are ours but i am disappointed in some of his comments.. at this stage i'll try to be objective about it.
he is defending his own position after all.. what bothers me most is his comments about athiests and christians which he seems to identify as being in conflict with each other.

A Father's Advice
by snugglebunny ini don't recall much of what my father said to me because so much of it was based on the teachings of his religion.
but there are a few things that have stuck in my mind that came from his own acquired wisdom.
and i'm happy to remember a few of them now.

I don't recall much of what my Father said to me because so much of it was based on the teachings of his religion. But there are a few things that have stuck in my mind that came from his own acquired wisdom. And I'm happy to remember a few of them now. He said:
On driving: Always drive with your passenger's comfort in mind so that they feel relaxed and at ease. If your passenger keeps stamping his feet to the floor you just might be tail-gating. And if you are going to teach someone to drive don't put the fear of God into them, tell them that a car is just a piece of tin and everyone is going to bend one sometime. so just do your best and don't fret about it, it WILL happen one day.
On debating: Never personalise a discussion. If you're debating whether or not to go to war for instance, or on the rights and wrongs of capital punishment, don't say how would you feel if it was your child / wife / husband etc who was harmed, because it's insulting and it's also obvious how the person would feel. Such a remark leaves nowhere else to go and if you can't see that you shouldn't be getting into those kind of debates!
On people. Don't form an opinion of someone based entirely on how nice they are to you personally. Most people can be charming if they try. Sometimes the best friendships are formed in adversity and disagreement.
That's about it, but I think the words had value.

I get my flu jab free every year courtesy of the NHS, however, my much younger wife isn't so entitled, so she pays £7 and gets it done at the Asda supermarket. -

heart troubles
by zeb indear all,.
my health took a beating over the years with stress from various sources, not a little from the wt; and dangerous areas of work involving fumes and so on.
the arc also took its toll and i have had recently a heart attack.

I had heart surgery in 2009.
6 months later I walked up a very steep hill for over an hour to reach the top of a peak in Kefalonia without breaking into a sweat.
There is another plus. If you're overweight you burn up over 3000 calories a day recovering from the surgery!

Never Bring a Knife to a Drone Fight
by LoveUniHateExams inapparently, it's good news, everybody - mohammed emwazi (aka jihadi john) has been targeted by a us drone strike.
the location was in raqqa, syria, a few yards from isis hq, near a clock tower where crucifixions are carried out.
there are conflicting reports, some say he died instantly at 11:40pm yesterday, others say that he was badly injured and taken to a nearby hospital.. from what i've previously read about emwazi, he was apparently terrified of being targeted by drones - yesterday it seems his nightmare was made reality.

According to today's Times, drone targets are shown on camera as becoming suddenly aware of what's going to happen just a few seconds before and try to take avoiding action that's always to no avail. It's known as the "drone scuttle". -

Are You Easily Offended? 😠
by minimus ini'm sick and tired of everyone claiming to be "offended".
if you are not politically correct, you will need to apologize for some perceived slight.. when i was an elder, i purposely avoided as much as i could, anybody that got easily offended.

Rebel-I had to look up 'Gollywog'. It reminds me of a Raggedy Ann doll, except she has red hair. I'm offended that no one has been offended for red-heads who are offensively represented by a stylized red yarn-haired doll.
I used to date a redhead.
No hair, just a red head.

Is it true? Heard a rumor WT postphones Disfellowshipping until further notice!!??
by Olivia Wilde ini am not sure if it's true but i heard from a good source that wt has given instructions to elders to postponed disfellowshipping members from wrong doing/gross sin until further instructions given by headquarters.
i heard some jws were just reproved either privately or publically.
has anyone else heard anything like this recently?

It is possible. Disfellowshipping is one the causes of concern that is frequently raised with the Charity Commission and the adverse impact this has on family life.
