No! No! No! This can't be true? brexit? No!
by purrpurr init seems britain has voted to leave the eu in a move of total madness!
the markets are already in free fall and the moronic bigots who campaigned for this are celebrating the demise of our country .. i can't see how a 49-51% split can be democratic?
there is still the postal vote to come in, maybe there's hope in that?

Disfellowshipped ex-wife Dies - Now What?
by snugglebunny init was a shock despite us being divorced for over 40 years.
my son from that marriage phoned me with the news of sandra's death a couple of days ago, followed by my daughter.. sandra was one of 5 siblings.
the other 4 are still jw's.

Congratulations! You did the right thing by attending. The Witnesses will look very bad in the eyes of non-JWs for not attending.
We're still waiting for a date for the funeral. It's a fair old drive to Doncaster so I'm planning on staying over. I'm going to suggest to my kids that they opt for a non-religious humanist funeral. If the JW siblings still won't attend then it will be obvious to all that DF'ing continues after death.

Thank you for your kind words everyone. It's quite a strange experience. I've been married to Mrs Snuggles for over 40 years and we have a great family, lots of children and grandchildren. The marriage to Sandra wasn't a happy one - for either of us. We'd both been brought up as JW's since childhood and, like many witness kids, didn't pick up much wisdom or common sense. When you're in a cult, your maturation is greatly impeded.
We didn't communicate at all for many years, so great was our mutual hostility. Then, our daughter brokered a peace deal and we both realised we were way too old to be indulging in such infantile nonsense. We met up, enabled by Mrs Snuggles and laid our anger to rest. I'm glad we did.

Sandra was one of 5 siblings. The other 4 are still JW's. It seems unlikely that any will attend the funeral. I shall attend, as will Sandra's non- JW last husband.
I'm not attending purely to support our kids either. You can't be that close to someone, even if it was only for a few years, and then write them out of existence entirely. I'm going to attend because I want to.

Who is your favorite thinker pt 2.
by The Rebel inonce upon a time i started a thread who is your favorite thinker and got many responses.
however revisiting that thread i noted we were to modest to name ourselves or fellow posters.
i therefore think we are either complete idiots, or modesty aside we should now name names, and restrict our answers to posters on the board.. so who on this board is your favorite thinker and why?.

Having experienced knocking on heaven's door a couple of times, I can tell you that all you worry about is your family and how they will handle their loss.

JW Witnessing Trolleys. To approach or ignore what is your preference and why?
by KateWild ini saw two brothers this morning next to the main train station in liverpool city centre this morning.
they were not actively approaching anyone.
what i found strange was that they were from a cong that has different territory, so i don't know why they were there.. anyway i knew them both, and they know i was df'd, i was in my car and couldn't park up for a chat, but i did beep and wave to them as i drove passed and they waved back.

Ignore, apart from once taking a pic of them at a Christmas market.
I don't see any point in confronting. That would just reinforce all they've been told about ex's.
The only time I've had a meaningful conversation with JW's was when I didn't admit to being an ex, just told them that my parents had lost everything in the build up to 1975. That gets them going a bit. I did cheat about my brother being disfellowshipped when I told them that they'd split my family apart by not speaking to him. I just let them think that I was a never been.

How Long Does This Religion Have Left?
by pale.emperor inthe generation that will be no means pass away have passed away.. the 144,000 were sealed up in 1935, oh, no wait, we got that wrong, we still have some.. russel is the faithful and wise servant... oh, no he wasn't it was me, rutherford... no, actually, we got that wrong it's knorr... erm, no we mean the governing body.. shunning is pagan, true christians would never do that (1946)... oh, actually, we should do that too.. the revelation book has been re-written.. the un is the satan's visible organisation.. wtbs signs up for fellowship with the un in 1991.. exposed in the guardian newspaper so ends it's fellowship in 2001.. the greatest man book is now obsolete and replaced with another jesus book.. the mags are reduced in pages.. encouraged to use tablets instead of actual books to save paper (money).
halls being sold off.. congregations sharing halls.. society owned buildings being sold off.. video pertitioning for money only last year to fund a new building.. bethelites reduced.. missionaries sent back home.. young members leaving.. long time members discovering the history and leaving.. how long do you think this religion has left?
i cant see it being here in another 100 years.

It will always have it's followers. It took me ages to understand that no matter how devastating and rational the real TATT was, Stockholm Syndrome will always prevail.

Home bookstudy ended because of 'independent study' groups? Any interesting stories regarding these types of groups?
by Nicodemus Kathoplizo insomeone suggested the other day that the home bookstudy meeting ended because of 'independent study' groups (in ireland) going 'off the reservation' and left the truth (tm).. has anyone heard of this before?.
does anyone have interesting stories of 'independent study' groups resulting in large scale apostasy?.
they did not publish this for no reason:.

This old assembly video clearly demonstrates the great sociability that used to be present among JW's. And, yes, I was there!
