good afternoon,.
i am writing to give you a quick update about our ongoing statutory inquiries into safeguarding and charities linked to jehovah’s witnesses.. as you may know, one of our inquiries is into watch tower bible and tract society of britain.
we opened this inquiry in 2014. watch tower then initiated what turned out to be protracted litigation against us.
But wait, the Brexit ends the UK's right to complain. Lucky elders. See ... the JWs holy spirit really protects those of its kind.

the scripture quotes aside, i was always told that we don't celebrate birthdays because that is a celebration of the self, which has no place in jehovah's organization.
then why celebrate anniversaries?
anniversary celebrations are about the joining of two selves, isn't that twice as selfish?.
It wasn't until the early 60's that anniversaries were OK'd.
the watchtower today says not to think of sex, or to have sexual fantasies.
i'm just wondering... how many people in the hall hearing this watchtower today would be having sexual fantasies?
sitting there thinking about sister hottie or brother hunky ?.
I can see it now. KH urinals complete with cake tongs dangling on a piece of string..
looks like chelmsford is going ahead after all.
here is the text of a letter to be read out this week:.
to all congregations in britain and irelandre: branch relocation project updatedear brothers:we rejoice to inform you that in june of this year, the governing body gave approval for thebritain branch to relocate to new facilities that will be constructed just south of chelmsford.
a team of about 20 have spent over a year getting rid of the asbestos contamination and are not even half way there.
I'm sure that they're doing asbestos as they can.
would a jehovah's witness ask you, the householder, "does christ dwell in this home?".
i have recently viewed the lady in the van, which was filmed principally in north london.
i am currently reviewing a transcript of alan bennett's play of the same title, looking for the exact quotation (the above may not be verbatim).. also, in the movie's subtitles, the word "curb" is spelled "kerb" in the original transcript.
Any comments about subtle and obvious differences between American and British speech and writing would be appreciated. Incidentally, in the film, Diehard, a German thug gave away his true identity to Bruce Willis' character by saying it was "raining dogs and cats" and by referring to the elevator as the "lift."
I once travelled in an elevator that I shared with A German couple. It had "Schindler" embossed on the metal floor. I pointed to this and exclaimed "Shindler's lift!"
I thought it was funny...
well i have not been on this site for ages - so long that i had forgotten my username etc and have had to start again!.
anyway briefly - bought up in 'the truth', baptised at 18, married at 21, had kids, got divorced, remarried, disfellowshipped 15 years ago.. parents and brother shun me.. early last year father very ill, calls me.
i arrange to visit him in hospital.
I said to my brother after he told me that I had heard about the JW's getting strict again re contact with disfellowshipped ones and that I had learnt of a 93 year old lady in America who had been a staunch JW for over 50 years but left due to the child molestation issue - now her grand-daughter will not even speak to her! My brother said that he wants to be loyal to Jehovah.
I've learned a new technique for dealing with that sort of negative stuff. I always respond: "Good For You!"
...and if you look at the 3 initials in that phrase, you'll see how expressing that makes you feel much better - without the other person knowing what you really mean.
LOL..Brexit is obviously working..
it was a shock despite us being divorced for over 40 years.
my son from that marriage phoned me with the news of sandra's death a couple of days ago, followed by my daughter.. sandra was one of 5 siblings.
the other 4 are still jw's.
Update: I attended the funeral on Friday. A 500 mile round trip in one day on UK motorways is no picnic. I met up with my son and daughter and children and grandchildren from Sandie's subsequent marriages and was treated very kindly. My wife felt that it would be best if I attended without her. I'm glad that I went. It was a conventional semi-religious funeral complete with flowers, hearse and limo. Sandie had stated in hospital that she didn't want any JW's to attend her funeral, so my son duly phoned her 4 siblings and told them to stay away. Reverse disfellowshipping in action!
back when i was a boy, we were using the old green songbook entitled "songs to jehovah's praise".
one of the songs contained the lyrics: "happy is the man who stays awake and keeps his outer garments".
i don't know what the song was called.. i'm pretty sure that the melody to this song was another rip-off from an already existing tune, in this case the maine stein song.
The Noah ark song was taken from one of Beethoven sonatas...
Yes it was!
Here's the original Kingdum song:

And now Beethoven's Appasionata opus 57. Go 1 minute 27 seconds in:

I'm just trying to identify the Kingdum melody for no other reason than it amuses me to do so. I'd never heard the original song before it was parodied on The Two Ronnies Show, at which I jumped up thinking OMG, Kingdom songs on the telly!
Here's the original tune. Anyone got any ideas?
