I notice that one reason for a congregation to merge is a shortage of elder material.
My father, a need is greater, was sent to the West country where the Weston super Mare congregation had a shortage of elder material and had been in that state for many years. Incredibly, the congregation was huge by witness standards, almost 200 strong.

Although the mags were printed in London, they occasionally contained American phrases that were incomprehensible to British ears. Apart from the spelling, the first that I recall is the WT stating "No way" when it disagreed with some course of action. No way? WTF does that mean? Ok, I know now.

it took a couple of years but we did leave and never had a desire to go back!.
The weird thing is that even now, so many years later, I still get a buzz from having the evenings to ourselves and the weekends free to do as we like.

No. Just suddenly saw that it was bullshit. It happened overnight. Went to a pub, got mildly drunk, smoked several cigars, went home told then wife who went berserk, who told parents who reacted in similar fashion. Never went back.
