Apostasy: The Movie - Directed by Daniel Kokotajlo
by darkspilver indaniel kokotajlo's new film apostasy has it's world premiere at the toronto international film festival in september 2017. apostasy.
family and faith come into conflict for two jehovahโs witness sisters in manchester, when one is condemned for fornication and the other pressured to shun her sibling.. this fresh, unadorned first feature from director dan kokotajlo carries an unmistakable note of authenticity from its very first scenes.
set in a jehovah's witness community in england, the film's strength and power lies in its directness.. apostasy depicts the growing rift in a family โ a mother and two daughters โ who are rigorously devoted to their religion.

Has anyone got a good recipe for curry, for a curry novice?
by Diogenesister ini really enjoy cooking but one thing i've never mastered is curry.
i've tried a few online recipes but they haven't turned out too well.
there's nothing better than a tried and tested, handed down ( or over!

This is the recipe that I use. I vary it slightly by cooking a whole leg or shoulder of lamb immersed in the curry then de-boning it and returning the meat into the pot. It takes a couple of hours. The bone adds a lot of flavour during cooking. I also stick in random vegetables such as peas, carrots or brocolli.https: www.delicious.com.au/recipes/lamb-potato-curry/aa51138e-0d56-4c2e-8b8b-88acc38e347f

Without god what is the basis of morality?
by OneEyedJoe ini'm sure most here who've questioned or left behind their belief in god have encountered this question - without god, what basis can there be for morality?
my exwife, when i admitted that i was an atheist, once asked me "if you don't believe in god, what's to stop you from going out and raping and murdering?
" previously, whenever i got this objection, i would tend to turn it around on the other person with a response along the lines of "if fear of god is the only thing that stops you from murdering, that makes me rather nervous to be around you.

When I left the JW's, I did some of the bad things. Later I felt like shit about them all. Then I realised that true morality comes from within. If you don't listen to that little voice telling you no, then you will feel like an absolute turd whether you believe in God or not. So something is operating somewhere.

If it wasn't for Independence day, Americans would still be driving on the correct side of the road.

It takes a good imagination to be a JDub
by Sour Grapes inat the regional convention, the speaker said that jehovah is our best friend.
so let's see...if i need a ride to the doctor's office can i call on my best friend to give me a ride to the office?
when i wake up in the morning and tell my best friend jehovah, "good morning, how are you?

When I wake up in the morning and tell my best friend Jehovah, "Good morning, how are you?", he never answers my question.
Wooo...you've never read your Watchtower on the subject! tut tut... BTW, no telling jokes in your prayers either.
WT 15 March, 86:
When individuals have the opportunity to speak to kings or rulers of this world, they usually do so respectfully and with dignity, highly appreciating the privilege. Should we be less respectful and appreciative when speaking to "the living God and the King to time indefinite"? (Jeremiah 10:10) Of course not. Thus, such expressions as, "Good afternoon, Jehovah" or, "We want to talk to you, Jehovah" are out of place in prayer, as are conversational remarks such as, "How are you today?" "Give our love to Jesus," or, "Have a nice day."โCompare Ecclesiastes 5:1, 2.
But then, the WT of June 1, 85 had previously stated:
Questions
From Readers
ยทAre there things that we should avoid saying when we pray to Jehovah?
Yes, there are. We should avoid saying things in our prayers that sound overly familiar and suggest to others (in public prayers) that we are being disrespectful. Such expressions as "Good afternoon, Jehovah" and "Give our love to Jesus" are not fitting, nor are humorous comments or even jokes in our prayers.

Did you wait for something special to happen?
by stillin ini pretty much fell apart for about two years while i was looking at the religion through new eyes.
i prayed my heart out for two years, begging jehovah to clear a certain thing up that the elders and the organization had perpetuated.
this was supposed to be his spirit-led organization so getting things right in answer to possibly just one person's heartfelt prayers should be an easy task for the sovereign of the universe.

Not for me. I'd just gone along with it for most of my life, convinced it was the truth. When I realised it wasn't true I felt only a sense of relief and freedom. I didn't enjoy being a JW one little bit.

Banners for London Protest
by Farmer Jim1 inhi folks, iโm attending the london protest at the excel convention in august and am making some banners.
iโm aiming for short but memorable sentences that will stick in jws minds and also make them laugh a little at their own organisation.. my best so far is โthis is not a protest, itโs an overlapping protestโ.
has anyone got any ideas for more?.
