In my experience I would say roughly 85%. I rarely shunned anyone when I was in and I didn't care if anyone saw me or not. I can't say the same in their reaction to me however. -

I worked with a bunch of JW's once. One of them was a big time elder, ex-co. We were always at odds because he just couldn't help but push his weight around and taking over everything. We got into a big fight one time and I told him to go Fuck himself. I'll never forget the look on his face. Sheer shock and awe. His lips quivered as he shouted "You can't talk to me like that!" I told him "I just did!" We eventually handled it among ourselves and he never pursued it with the congregation. But it was one of the most truly satisfying moments of my life. -

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Happy?
by minimus ini know of the local congregation's issues, per an elder i know quite well.
he has said that nearly everyone in the congregation is suffering emotionally and mentally.
he said he has never seen so many witnesses with so many problems.

They are constantly reinforcing to each other how bad this world is and how Jehovah will wipe out all the pain and suffering they are experiencing real soon. They don't see anything positive, if they do it's from Satan. It's all that negative, oppressive mental attitude. Nothing is good enough right now. The world is so full of evil. Damn, I'm glad I got out of there. Just thinking about them makes me want to drink. -

I started college the year I started studying. Was persuaded by the idiots I studied with that it was wrong so I dropped out after one semester. I was 19. At the age of 54 and disfellowshipped I went back and got my Bachelor's degree. Better late than never. Although I don't have anything to be bitter about, my Dad was not a witness and he gave me a great start in my career when I was 23. -

I will be very angry. I will tell them I have no desire to have anything else to ever do with them and that since leaving their asshole organization I have never been happier. I will then remind them that they are the ones that follow the shunning doctrine so leave me the fuck alone! -

Inactive ones are not JWs
by gone for good inyears ago, the insinuation was often presented, that those who were inactive were actually not witnesses at all.
the point being made was that ''...winesses is a verb, not a noun...''.
i know there were published assertions to this end in the older books and magazines, with possibly even quotes from the likes of rutherford or knorr ,.

My wife and I were inactive with very minor meeting attendance for a while some years ago. It was only through my wife's friendship with an elders wife from a previous congregation that we were reactivated. We had an elder call on us from time to time usually when he knew we wouldn't be at home. His wife told my wife's friend that because we were inactive they couldn't do anything to help us and we were basically in the world unless we reactivated ourselves. At the time I wrote it off as this elder and his wife just being assholes. -

after that i had interrupted the study for one year, i started all over again with an elder of my wife's cong.

I am today, ashamed that I ever believed in Adam & Eve, Noahs Flood, Jonah and the fish, etc. I never really believed that only witnesses would make it through Armageddon tho and I definitely never bought their blood doctrine. Being gay myself, I didn't ever believe that Jehovah would condemn me for it. -

How do you respond to JW family?
by Laika infor those who have left and are still in contact with jw family, how do you usually respond when they bring up jw stuff, i.e.
start talking about the nearness of armageddon or things like that.. i usually say nothing and just let it pass but i'm considering changing tact to something more confrontational, less because i want to change their mind and more because i find it tiresome.
thoughts?

Whenever my wife and sister get together (fortunately not very often) they start talking about that crap. One time they were talking about how they extend their service hours by walking slow, taking breaks etc. I told them that it didn't seem to me that the quantity equaled the quality and by reporting like that it totally misrepresented the time that witnesses really spend in field service. They got all defensive and their only thought-stopping comment was that at least they weren't disfellowshipped (like me). Really intelligent. -

What are your experiences having Jehovah Witnesses work for you or you work with?
by adjusted knowledge ini've managed several thousand employees in the last decade.
i've had a handful that identified themselves as witnesses.
from experience, they were no different than any other employees.

I worked for a witness owned company for 8 years and it was the worst experience of my life. We had about 20 employees all witnesses. There was constant stress and turmoil every day for everyone. The owner was a real dick. Nothing was ever good enough and someone was always being called into his office. But when you had a problem with another employee, he couldn't be bothered. He had no respect for anyone's intelligence or work ability. He was always ever hiring elders, servants, ex CO's etc. and would put them in positions of authority over those who had worked hard for much longer. All because he was itching to be made elder. And they all had to make a point of counseling everyone on personal matters that weren't work related. I remember the worst was when he hired an ex CO (my nemesis) to be a manager. I put my foot down and demanded to be appointed the position. Found out later I was just being humored. This guy knew no boundaries. He had no business experience or tact either. One day I come back to the office after being out on calls and he had completely redone my area of responsibility (because of course he had a better way) After being disrespected so many times by this guy, I l finally let loose on him and ripped him a new one. His words? "How dare you speak to me that way, I'm an elder!" Of course I was the one called on the carpet for it. My whole time there it was just everyday of the same crap. When I got disfellowshipped they fired me. I had to sign a release in exchange for a decent severance. I was shown the door and had to wait outside for my last check. When I came to pick up my first severance check, I was not allowed in. I am so bloody thankful everyday I left that place behind.
