Howto: get access to scientific papers
by Anders Andersen insince most people are not aware on how to get (free*) access to scientific papers and journals, so here's a short list of resources.. search http://scholar.google.com for the paper.
maybe you'll get lucky and find it somewhere for free.. if you can only find a paid for version of the paper, get the title, doi (sort of like an isbn number) and link to the download page of the paper on the paysite.. if you don't know the doi, find it by searching your paper's title on http://crossref.org.
go to the libgen site (links here: https://sites.google.com/site/themetalibrary/library-genesis ) and search for the paper.

Vacation time...is reality closing up on my wife?
by StarTrekAngel inthis time apart from all things jw has been a real blessing for us as a couple.
i am pretty sure the wife is going to head out to the meeting.
we did not have a single argument and felt pretty connected the whole time.

I really hate the macho-culture and stuff... On the other hand, wine is probably the best thing human kind has achieved ever... I really hope your wife will comprehend that no-life can be well spent sticking to the WT religion, I bet that she will take a stand for something beyond the wt, her life and yours together, but it must be her own decision, just take an expecting role... my mother turned to that approach 3 years after her divorce, and I never saw it coming, now we have birthdays and stuff (she even bet for our country's soccer matches!)
Sadly, I'm very familiar with that move of the "golden vacation" before splitting up, i guess married couples wanting to divorce aren't much creative...

Latest religious lunacy... Suicide by Lion
by Mandrake inyesterday, here in santiago, chile, some stupid ***** yerk tried to kill himself by entering naked to the lions cage in broad day light and while the zoo was filled with people!...
sad part is the zoo personnel had to shoot dead the lions (male and female, 22 years old)... because waiting for the tranquilizers to take effect would be the sarah of the man.... at first everyone thought it was a suicide attempt, but later they found in his garments some kind of letter stating that armageddon had come and that he is daniel the prophet and god would save him... and he signed the letter as "jesus christ".

Similar but not the same
by Deleteandrestart inafter watching ceders you tube video on muslim and jw shunning, i thought i'd look at some other ex religious you tubers, so i looked at the mormon ones, .
theres a lot of them but what struck me was the very similar mindsets and the way the internet made them start to question from a critical thinking point of view their own faith , it was just like another brand of the exact same thing and these people were experiencing the same thoughts as we get when we start to leave/question the "truth ",.
the main difference seems t be that jw shunning is totally merciless and never ending, and no real forgiveness takes place unless you cave in .

My brother died last night
by LisaRose ini found out this morning that my brother died last night, he was also an ex jw, 73 years old and died of heart disease and kidney failure.
it was not totally unexpected, as he had been in poor health, but it's a blow, especially as i just lost another brother two years ago.
there were six of us, now only four.

Leaving the JW's is like a game of Poker....
by Turquoisepeace inleaving the religion can be likened to a game of poker.
many possible scenarios can be played out during the game and the potential loss or gains are many:.
you have put too many chips in, every round it just seems you will win it all in the end.

I think that witnesses use too much "illustrations"... I found yours in this case a good one... But life is different, you don't Win or Lose... You just experience things, I believe that every experience good or bad (being inside the "Brooklyn cult") is a lesson... I'm thankful of life, even being a born-in...
Sometimes I found myself trying to break the old habit Of relying too much on "illustrations" to make my points in conversations...

Spanish talking people who immigrated to the USA it's probably well work focus and had a concept of hard working as a key to future and obviously they want their descendants to do better than they... Here in Chile I met a guy who lived and worked in the USA and 20 years later he came back to Chile. Well he wanted her 18 daughter to study in the university here, and he was a uber-JW... That girl went back to the us, now has a girlfriend (ha ha obviously she's out the Jws) and it's working hard to progress in professional life (she didn't make it to university here in Chile, where admission tests and requirements are sometimes very high for the traditional and best universities), so she did it her own way out of the wt even "following" indirectly the wt advice -

Story of God - Morgan Freeman
by Doubtfully Yours ini'm hooked on watching "the story of god, with morgan freeman".
it's fascinating to watch the different faiths throughout the world, the rituals, how devout the followers are.
mind boggling for sure!
