What they mean is:
"study the watchtower library and everything we publish"
They don't really want people to study the Bible...
is this double talk or is it just me?
it's a comment in the sept 15, 2015 wt about higher education:.

This organization states that one does not need Jesus as a mediator to be saved ( the official doctrine says Jesus is not the mediator between God and other sheep, but only between God and 144000), but you must belong to this org and obey Gov Body in order to be saved..... how screwed up is this ?????
i used to talk weekly on skype, with a sister from another country.
i didn't tell her much about my research and change of beliefs, until today ... in the conversations some doctrines came up and i told her i don't believe 1914, first, then i went on to tell her that i also don't believe there are 2 classes of christians, that i did not believe the government of the kingdom will be in heaven while the kingdom en earth, that i believe the whole kingdom will be on earth, and that from what i read, jesus was pretty clear that he will come back to earth, visibly.
the "god always had an organization" dogma was dropped and i told her it is not true, out of 9000 years of human history, it's not sure there were 1000 years when god had a loyal organization ..... i did not plan to tell her all this things, but it just happened, and things came up in the conversation... and once i dropped one bomb i dropped them all .... she said i do not sound like i am one of the jehovah's witnesses any more ... and even though we ended the call with "see ya" i have the feeling i will not hear from her any more ... .

i subbled upon this very interesting article on the origins of the idea that jesus was an angel.

I subbled upon this very interesting article on the origins of the idea that Jesus was an angel
http://lhim.org/blog/2010/08/07/jesus-was-not-the-agent-of-the-genesis-creation/
The begining od the article:
The idea of pre-existence originated with PLATO and was later developed by XENOCRATES (d.314 BC). In time, the first century Middle Platonic philosopher NUMENIUS introduced the idea of a 2nd transcendental entity between the Supreme Being and the universe. This entity, subordinate to the Supreme God, was called the Demiurge – meaning maker or builder. Because matter was viewed as evil God could not have any association with it. Only the Demiurge could deal with it and so he acted as builder or agent of creation.
The concept that Jesus had acted as agent of creation because he had existed in a different form prior to birth has been believed by many since the Christian philosopher Justin Martyr first used the word pre-existence with reference to Jesus in about 150 AD. However, Justin was a believer in the idea that Socrates and Plato were inspired by God. He had been thoroughly schooled in the Greek philosophical thinking of his day, including the thoughts of Numenius whose ideas he found attractive. With his mind so receptive, Justin found it easy to apply such ideas in his interpretation of the Christian Scriptures.
a lot of people, ex-jws, believers and unbelievers alike, think that jw's are just a somewhat kooky brand of christianity.
is it possible to "try and follow jesus" and not be christian?
what exactly makes someone a christian?
@ The Rebel
Here is why jw's are not Christians (I wrote this before so I will repost):
you will not find one phrase in wt publications that say Jesus is mediator between God and "other sheeep"
They do not believe this. They say Jesus is mediator only between 144 000 and God.
A jw from "other sheep", in their view, has exactly the same hope as a Buddhist or Hindu that lived years ago and never heard of Yah or Jesus.
They should read more carefully Isaiah 65:20 - fleshly people in the 1000 years Kingdom will grow old and die.
The one and only christian hope is inheriting the Kingdom and living in it as immortal beings, a new creation, like Jesus after resurrection.
And the second reason they do not believe in the physical resurrection of Jesus ( do not read physical as carnal / fleshy as it is not what I mean, but ressurection as a immortal being / new man / new creation with a physical imperishable body)
These are the reasons. Of course, other doctrines who elevate Jesus at God status, on the same level as Jehovah, or part of trinity are not better than the jw's ...
Another false statement that jw's make about Jesus is that he is an angel. Hebrews ch 1 and 2, culminating with Hebrews 2:5 clearly shows he is not an angel.
guess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.
david spane does his best to explain it again.
the cutoff date for this generation has now moved to 1992 (was once 1935), the year that fred franz died.
I just had a revelation about the org.
from watching splane's chart: They will close the door to the anointed ones again.
This is what my gut tells me.
guess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.

Splane says we should give a scripture that can say how much a generationis, here it is:
Mathew 1: 17 Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.
guess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.

@ Israel Ricky Gonzales
You brought up a very important point: That Jesus linked the time of the end and "this generation" with Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy.
Mathew 24:15 has as a reference Daniel 9:27. Daniel 9:27 speaks of the last week of the 70 weeks of Daniel.
The jw's say that last week of the 70's weeks already took place in the first century.
Many bible researchers say the 70's week will be in the future.
From Daniel 9:24-27 you can see that there is a gap between the 69 and 70 week. The jw's do not recognize this gap.
If you read the whole context you can see that during the last week a short term - 7 year "covenant" is made by a price of the country who comes to destroy Jerusalim, but he breaks the covenant at the half of this period of 7 years.
The wt even changed the verse Daniel 9:27 to make it appear more that the covenant is made by Jesus and support the fact that the 70th week already took place. NWT States “And he will keep the covenant in force for the many for one week; and at the half of the week, he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease.
While NIV : He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’[h] In the middle of the ‘seven’[i] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering
around the 39:00 minute mark the focus shifts to a single sister who cannot find a mate.
at the 42:30 minute mark she states "i cannot believe it crossed my mind...to look on jw dating sites".
guess a new unwritten rule is added to the many oral traditions of these pharisees.
guess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.

They used to say that a prophecy is better understood while it fulfills.
Instead of admitting that they were wrong about 1914, they keep coming up with crazy forced tentatives to explain this falsehood originated in pyramidology.
to see how many years a generation is they should read the genealogy of Jesus in Mathew, at the end of the genealogy it says there were 14 generations from Abraham to David, 14 generations from David to Jesus.
Jesus said that generation when all happens will certainly not pass. Truly! I believe Jesus!
