That paradise video is powerful. I think the watchtower is undergoing a sea change. The numbers at least in the western world are pointing to a saturation point. The shift from growth to retention is underway. I expect the pace of change will accelerate.

Stories From the Back Room

XJW I'm not I'm not much of a drinker anymore. My standard answer for something I'll never do is there ain't enough whiskey in Texas for that to happen. I have a story from the back room. And Elder took in a young sister to board with him in his wife. His wife was probably 250 pounds to be kind. Before you know it he was doing her. It was all kept quiet until she was ready to be married. She went to speak to the elders about using the hall. One of the two elders that she spoke with was the one that was doing her. They asked her if anything prevented her from being married in the hall? She said you know that thing between you and me. The other Elder asked what did she mean? Then she spilled the beans about doing the first Elder. The other Elder just about crapped his pants and had to call in the P.O. at the time and it was it was a big full on dog and monkey show. First elder DFed.
The same hall had an elder that was molesting his own children. It was only found out after he died. They each thought they were the only one. I can picture those innocent children scared out of their minds, confused and praying to god for help. That pig creeping in doing unspeakable things to them. I should look up his grave and take a big steaming dump on it?

All lies are untruth. But not all untruths are lies.
by aintenoughwiskey inif you speak an untruth that you believe to be true, is it a lie?
does it become a lie when you discover and then fail to admit, or obscure the untruth?
i would like to be a fly on the wall when the gb makes new doctrine.

Would you have done what Adam did?
by thinker11 inevery religious group know the story of adam & eve.
for me, i understood what they did was wrong but i never felt they were bad people and considering that they never murdered anyone and seemed to live normal lives after being kicked out, i found it hard to accept that they deserved to die forever and that we would be responsible for suffering for their mistakes.
i personally feel like i might have done the same thing adam did when eve offered him the fruit.

If eve was pregnant when she ate the fruit, and adam abstained, we might have two races of humans. Mortal and immortal. -

God Answers the Prayers of the Earring Hunters
by konceptual99 injust a small anecdote from the meeting last night.. in the item interviewing a couple of older, long standing ones, one of the sisters was asked how jehovah had answered her prayers.
her response was "in lots of ways but it's the little ways i think of the most.
for example, when i am rushing to get ready for the meeting and putting my earrings in and i drop the butterfly clip on the floor and cannot find it.

camping information.
by James Brown inmy wife and i are planning on taking a year off and taking a jeep and a camper through all the 48 contiguous states and alaska and some of canada.. living in florida, i have always had guns and a concealed carry permit.
but researching for our upcoming retirement vacation, it seems to me that i might not be able to legally carry firearms on my upcoming expedition.. it seems every state has different laws and licenses.
what does a camper from florida do when he goes to new york or california?

I'm a gun enthusiast, hunter and recreational shooter yet I cannot grasp this need to carry a firearm with you.
Have you ever seen the movie "deliverance" (insert banjo music)? I am a Canadian hunter and gun owner, I rarely go in the woods without a gun. I can legally carry a shotgun in the woods any time. If you plan on staying in provincial, federal, or reputable private campgrounds (KAO) I wouldn't bother with a gun. Get a two foot piece of hockey stick, and some bear spray. If you are boon docking, I would say get a shooting vest, some shooting glasses and pump or auto loading shotgun. Something that looks like a hunting or shooting gun, not some pistol grip zombie gun. Wood stock is less alarming. Call CBS and ask about doing shooting clays in Canada. I've seen some creepy looking characters in the woods, when they see my Maxus stalker, they get a bit figidy. Who's got the purdy mouth now?
In reference to Esse quam videri's comment above. Having a gun in your camper in the woods, and carrying a gun in the woods are two different things. The only legal way to carry a gun in the woods in my province, is to be a licensed hunter and only have the gun and ammo for the game in season. Coyotes can be hunted 365 days a year here.

I'm not sure about long guns, but you will be turned away at the Canadian border with a handgun. -

How do you manage to keep JW friendships after you left the organization?
by Bonsai init seems incredibly difficult.
those who leave the org.
(or fade) no longer have anything in common with jehovah's witnesses, nor do they want to stick around to get radiated by the fear and guilt that saturates every aspect of a witnesses' life.. i've lost all but one of my jw friends quite simply because i can no longer condone the evil things that they condone.

I have one left and one maybe, all the others have dropped me like a dog turd. The one left barely goes to meetings, and I'm his only friend. The other I've known all his life, and we connected while he was out, have a hobby in common. I felt sorry for him being alone with no friends. We had him over quite a bit, fed him, treated him like a son. He has since gone back and remarried, I'm happy for him, but I expect he will also drop me. A real shitty doctrine that shunning! My wife feels sorry for me, but like a lot of men, I'm comfortable in my own skin. I feel sorry for women who leave, they seem to make more social connections. Oh well, we still have our child, grand children, we both come from large families and have siblings. I had a JW friend want to friend me on FB, my first thought was why? I'm guessing it has something to do with the RC.
