So, after reading 80% of the deposition I had to do some research about depositions. Basically, a judge is not there. The attorneys representing WTBTS objections were signaling/coaching the deposed Richard Ashe to be careful about answering the question. But, as far as I was concerned Ashe gave enough information to hang WTBTS. At one point the lawyer fussed at the WTBTS's lawyer for their continual objecting and basically messing with the process.
Interesting, Wikipedia, (I know the most trustworthy site) says, "The first is to assert a privilege and the second is to object to the form of the question asked. Objections to form are frequently used to signal the witness to be careful in answering the question. Since the judge is not present, all other objections, in particular those involving the rules of evidence , are generally preserved until trial. They still can be made sometime at the deposition to indicate the serious problem to judge and witness, but the witness must answer the question despite these objections. If the form objection is made, the opposite party still has the right to re-phrase the same question and ask it again. Indeed, in Texas , lawyers were so aggressively using objections to indirectly coach their witnesses on the record that all objections outside of four narrow categories are now prohibited and making such prohibited objections waives all objections to the question or answer at issue." ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deposition_(law))
It is obvious by the objections that they did not want "the truth" out, they were there to protect WTBTS interest. I think I could be a defense attorney, but I don't think I could sleep at night being a WTBTS attorney.

Millions now Living Will Never Die
by skin inthis is the title of a watchtower book published 95 years ago in 1920 by j f rutherford.
it still gets an occasional mention at meetings about how it was a turning point in the history of the watchtower.
but how many witnessess today can answer this question.who are these millions of people alive in 1920 that would never die?

I bought an original copy of "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" because I had great-grand parents that traveled all over Texas actually camping (living) on the side of the road while they "witnessed" from 1920-1925, and was curious what the message was that would cause them to do this.
While reading the thick "booklet" Millions Now Living Will Never Die, I thought what a bunch of crap. I don't know how many times Rutherford said, "this is the undeniable truth". When 1925 came and went without incidence, Grand-Mother said to Gran-Paw, "Nothing has happened" they went home to seek assistance from family that was not "in the truth".
Grand-Mothers comments, "Nothing has happended", is the historical story of the WTBTS leading their followers on a 130 snipe hunt. Nothing has happened. IMHO, The WTBTS doesn't have any credibility left. From the notes of the Branch meeting commented on other threads they are a desperate corporation that must talk about mens socks, suits, and women wearing immodest" tight yoga pants to the gym. I don't know what their true financial condition is and it doesn't matter, although it appears they have cranked up the intensity of begging for money. However, they are bankrupt of any true spiritual direction as they don't know where they have been for the last 130 years, nor do they know where they are, and if "spancks", socks, and tight men's suits designed by homosexuals is all they can talk about, they are absolutely bankrupt spiritually.

Zoned Visit: Who's Calling Who Bloodguilty?
by breakfast of champions inso at the zoned visit, tough tony remarked how inactive ones had "blood on their hands" for not warning the unsuspecting inhabitants of earth of their impending doom at armageddon.
could it be true that the society is at least equally bloodguilty for the same offense?.
if there was one way watchtower could warn the entire inhabited earth of their sudden destruction all at once, it would certainly be on the internet.. and the perfect opportunity to warn the entire inhabited earth of the impending destruction would be to answer a "frequently answered question" in an honest and forthright manner.

BU2B, I have a similar situation with my Mother and Father-in-law. One is unemployed and out of unemployment compensation, the other is under-employed only working a few days a week as a mechanic as he has been a mechanic all his life. They sold their house and are trying to get into government housing. But besides the many months auxiliary pioneering they also go to quick builds like they are eating breath mints.
My wife called all tearfull and crying a few weeks back saying that her parents didn't have money for food. We have tried to financially helped them before, but soon found out it was a bottomless pit, and that if given money outright they would donate some to WTBTS and some they used for gas to go out in service. We have taken a resolute stand not to give money until their attitude changes. When we gave money, they were appreciative to us but to everyone else Jehovah provided and got the credit.
When I resigned I did it on the "I'm working out of town to support my family and the Bible says if you don't provide materially for your family you are worse than an unbeliever" and that I know I don't meet the qualifications any longer.
I've got two brothers working at Warwick NY for free that have the entitlement attitude and probably could benefit from applying Anthony Morris III council of getting their head out of bed and getting to work on time. They are also just waiting for Mom to die for their inheritance. I'm in the real world working 66-84 hours every week and my wife is working also, but we are making ends meet with not too much left over.

"It's the intent that counts and not the result."

i have been out of the jw organization for some 22 years now and i sometimes get a reminding jolt out the hoops that some will jump through to make their religion make sense to them.
the first line in this post is what a jw on the street here in salinas told me on saturday when trying to justify the society's history of false prophecies.

We Now See Hard Proof That God Does Not Guide This Religion
by metatron inonce upon a time, there was a small, controversial religion that got into trouble because of child sexual abuse.
there were lawsuits and nasty headlines and bad press and concerns about what other sort of sexual misdeeds might be covered up.. then, in a breathtaking moment of hubris, the apparent 'boss' of this religion gave a widely reported speech in which he revealed his obsession with homosexuals and young men wearing tight pants..
this is not "meat in due season".

Hi Alive, no apologies necessary, but, how about we all just stay alive and not worry about the suicide stuff. There are many days that I am glad that I don't have a gun, because I have thought of putting the barrel in my mouth and pulling the trigger.
You have your own unique story, but you are not unique to the race of mankind in being fooled by the Bernie Madoffs of the religious arena. Millions of people have fallen for this snake oil salesmanship, so don't think poorly of yourself. I've been fooled and have my regrets, but it is in our better interest to move on.
Alive, Many blessings to you. Life is Sweet.

Amazing; a very nice and accurate interchange of information on your part, I mean an axx whoppen.
Obviously, he has not been in the "truth" for very long.
As a young boy, I lived through the vomit of speculation about 1975, and then the denial after nothing happened. My uncle was removed as bookstudy conductor when he would not teach 1975 at the bookstudy, saying the "scriptures say that no man knows the day nor hour". Eventually, he was removed as an elder but then a DO got involved and reversed it. He eventually resigned, and is out today. Thank God.
About 7 years ago, I purchased online an original copy of "Millions Now Living Will Never Die". IMOHO, a total piece of crap. I had a great grand Father and Mother that spent five years living on the side of the road for five years between 1920-1925 selling "Millions Now Living Will Never Die". They had two children on "the road" in addition to the other three. When 1925 came, Grandmother said, "nothing has happened", and they drug back to family in Waco Texas for help being busted and poooooooor.
I had an aunt that accompanied "the Family" to the convention you mentioned where the Children's Book was released, my mother was baptised and given the book. My family was very poor, but they went anyway. The reason was revealed why they would travel 1000 miles in a flatbed truck in a 25 year old recording of an interview of my aunt: the reason was the WTBTS saying that they were expecting that the ancient "holies" like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would be resurrected and appear at the convention, I guess belated from the failed 1925 prediction. I think my family were disappointed and nuts.
My Father, (rest in peace) said that the early 1950's WTBTS speculated/predicted harmeggedon would come as they were 40 years from 1914, 40 years then considered a "generation". Nothing happened.
Let's not forget the subtle crap that was said about the 1986 year of peace. A possible proclaiming of "Peace and Security". Then we slowly rolled into the end of the 70-80 year window for the generation from 1984 to 1994. And as you mentioned the printed word from WTBTS that Harmegeddon was to happen before the end of the century but then changed in the bound volume.
Jehovah's Witnesses have been on a 130+++ year SNIPE HUNT led by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. It's cost of the victims who believed this garbage is unknown and irrepairable.
