the vast majority of deaths from the blood policy are undocumented because they are simply not newsworthy.
if you know of a death or serious injury/disability related to the blood policy, please help us document it.
send as many details as you can recall.
Hi Truthseeker. Orphan Crow here...!
I don't have any records of the numbers of deaths related to blood transfusion refusals.
The numbers are staggering. I have read countless numbers of medical studies that end with the death of a Jehovah's Witness. And you know, I have never thought to keep track of the numbers that I have encountered in the research I have done. There are so many...so many, that are just refered to as "Jehovah's Witness patient". Died after complications. Died from severe hemorrhaging. Died.
They are nameless. But they exist as medical statistics buried inside of decades of research papers and that isn't even touching on the ones that never make it to a medical journal.
And I guess I have just became almost desensitized to the nameless "Jehovah's Witness patient" over and over and over again...mentioned in medical studies, in different languages and different countries all over the world.
Here is something that you can do to get a feel for the extent of how much the Jehovah's Witnesses have been written up in medical journals - go to Google Scholar and type in "Jehovah's Witness blood". You will get "about 24,000 results". Some of the JWs in those studies survived - many didn't. The farther you go back in years...the more they die.
In the opening post, Lee asked for people to enter the data that they knew concerning deaths from blood transfusion refusal.
I have a stat to add to that. My baby. February 1974. Canada.
Except he didn't die. He was supposed to. He lived even though the doctors who chopped and sliced him told me that he was going to die. They gave my baby a 3% chance of living through the night after they had tested their "bloodless" methods on him.
The only reason he is alive today is because he is one tough little son of a bitch.
That bitch is me. :)
the thread about magazines stopping distribution in india reminded me of a recent conversation.
a local brother said he asked for a copy of the new organisation book for publishers.
the elder told the brother to print it out if he wanted a physical copy.
Brokeback: If they were astute business men they would have abandened the printing business decades ago and moved on to something else but these wishful thinkers just keep hoping for a turn around in profits all the while pushing the pedal to the metal with denial.
Well. A person could almost get the impression that whoever had interests in a sideline company like...maybe a paper company, for example...or a company with timber interests, would be eager to keep one of the biggest consumers of paper in the US busy.
Heck, the WT even had a custom made paper named after them, and designed specifically for their needs only, at one time!
If you think the WTS is taking a hit, just think of how the paper companies feel about losing one of their biggest customers.

It wouldn't surprise me if the WTS is getting nailed for tax on printed material.
In Canada, even if they don't sell a product, they still could be levied a Goods and Services tax on the printed material they produce.

Maybe the tax man is catching up to the WTS' tax evasion methods.
guys .
a letter was just read in out kh stating that all printing of wt and awake is ceased for the coming year and we will just place tracts on fs, countries which were cared by our branch will be cared by other countries...along with this they read the new fs form and stuff about reporting links of videos wtf..lol.
i can't tell which country perhaps that will give away a lot, any one with a similar information.
And...a possible reason as to why the WTS does not provide printing services in India anymore:
APPLICABILITY OF SERVICE TAX
Under Service Tax laws of India, various services are subject to the levy of Service Tax. NPOs being service oriented organizations work for the betterment of the poor and underprivileged sections of society. NPOs providing taxable services have to charge service tax on such services. NPOs are under obligation to collect the service tax from the persons to whom they are rendering the services and are also required to deposit it with the Government. Thus, NPOs providing taxable services would have to obtain a Service Tax Registration under Service Tax laws.
It is quite possible that the printing of religious literature is not tax exempt in India.

slimfatboy: Why would they turn away good money coming into their economy?
"It is more likely that the WTS did not want to pay tax on the money that they sent to India."
I take that back.
The reason why the Watchtower was banned from sending foreign money to India:
The controversial Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was banned from receiving foreign funds after the government found that it was engaged in coercive conversions.
According to the FCRA, only the organisations registered by the central government or those sanctioned "prior permission" can receive funds from abroad. The funds can only come through a declared bank account, and such organisations have to submit their audited returns to the home ministry every year.
The FCRA mechanism exists only to regulate those organisations which receive foreign funds through legal channels. To ensure more complete monitoring, the home ministry now plans to introduce a law that would compel all NGOs, including all religious organisations, to disclose their sources of funds to the government.

India does not give the same tax exemptions to religions that the WTS is used to getting in the US.
In 2012, the WTS lost an appeal with the Indian Department of Income Tax:
i went to the meeting last night.
to keep the peace for now, i guess.
anyway...... during the bible highlights, a newly appointed ms explained why construction is being curtailed in some areas.
The CLAM workbooks/coloringbooks for 2016 have all the bibblical basis for the construction halt covered.
The latest CLAM has Nehemiah named as the culprit.
it is evident that the w.t has recently re-branded itself, and has become fairly modern in its marketing techniques.
so the organisation is in that respect forward thinking, and the former way of doing things has past.. .
but this rebranding has been done by marketing experts, who maybe realise progress is progress, and that with modernisation many bethelites " even as free volunteers" are possibly no longer required.
Next you will be telling me nobody owns a non-profit organisation, and the W.T. is owned by Jehover. Gee thanks for that.
You are welcome.
