truthseekeriam: Looks like Feb 11, 2016 is the day for the oral argument.
No, the appellant's request to continue oral argument has been denied. It appears like the appeal hearing is going ahead, not oral arguments.

Yeah...and not only that...this forum will not be accessible either!
Damn. What shall we do on those days? Oh, what shall we do??? Maybe Simon can fix that...
it's amazing how the expression "the truth" has become such an ingrained term used by witnesses.. "we have 'the truth'".
"is he 'in the truth'?".
most here have found out so many facts about the organisation, and felt the effects of being "gut-punched" as we realised these facts.. so how do you feel about the expression "the truth" now?.
steve2: BTW, at least one other religious group refers to their teachings and organization as being "the truth": Exclusive Brethren.
Hmmm, JWs aren't so unique after all.
And then there are the "Two by Twos" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_by_Twos :
Two by Twos is one of the names used to denote an international, home-based church that has its origins in Ireland at the end of the 19th century. Among members, the church is typically referred to as "The Truth" or "The Way".
...and more about "the truth": http://2x2ministry.org
Heh...there was an elderly couple who would attend the Kingdom Hall when I was a kid - they were "Two by Twos". They said that the JWs were the closest to what they believed. Lol! She used to show up for meetings with a chihuahua in her handbag - he was all old and grey and he would snap at any kids who tried to pet him.
lt is said that jdubs are blood guilty for not allowing blood transfusions.l wonder how many shunned witnesses or disfellowshipped witnesses have committed suicide because of this practice.ls that also an act of being blood guilty?
just saying.
Atomat: l wonder how many shunned witnesses or disfellowshipped witnesses have committed suicide because of this ...
I think the number would be fairly high. The blood propaganda that the WTS puts out to the JWs has far reaching consequences.
Many, many exJWs still are held captive by the WT's erroneous 'medical' advice. Many are still terrified of blood and view blood transfusions as risky, dirty and not necessary. The very same people who come to the realization that the WT lies about doctrine and almost everything else, will still cling to the "blood truth". When...there isn't any blood truth that comes out of the WTS.
The WTS has successfully terrified people about the medical consequences of blood transfusions and yet those same fears have no basis in rational thinking. The WTS tries to tell people that they risk all sorts of things from taking blood...but the rational weighing out of the risks still leaves refusing blood as the least desirable option.
Think of it this way - some people cannot take penicillin, they are allergic to it. But, that doesn't mean that penicillin isn't an option for everyone else - it just means that there are risks involved in taking it. Same as blood - some people will end up with a hemolytic reaction but almost all the people who have a transfusion won't have any complications. The WTS has taken the normal risks associated with a medical procedure and has vilified all blood transfusions because of the "risks" involved. And yet...the WTS says NOTHING about the risks involved in the alternative procedures that they promote. Nothing. Nothing at all about the risks associated with taking the drug cocktails that claim to 'build up the blood' before surgery. Nothing at all about the risks of having all your blood drained out of your body and replaced with synthetic fluid. Nothing at all about how artificial blood is riskier than blood itself. And on and on...
Unfortunately, there are many exJWs who still hold onto the bad medical advice that they have been given - they will throw the WT literature into the garbage....and hold onto the noblood doctrine. Why? Because they think that the WTS is medically right about blood - not right about their Biblical doctrine. But, somehow, magically, they still believe that the blood propaganda is true.
So, yes, the blood guilt goes beyond the boundaries of active JWs - it extends its evil arm around anyone who has been exposed to the WT's noblood propaganda.
fts: Seems lots of younger people report that the love living in China.
Yes, my son lives in China. He loves it.
"Mom, China is supposed to be one of the countries with the least freedom, yet I feel more free here than anywhere else I have been."

thanks ich3b!.
sir82: I suspect that they run his name through their database of child molesters to see if his appointment might cause legal issues down the road.
But...but...the WTS doesn't have the ability to do that, do they? At least....according to what they told the court, they can't separate out the pedophiles from the database - that would takes months...maybe years! And the WT wouldn't lie about something like that, would they?
Database of pedophiles? Nope...the WT doesn't have THAT. Nope...can't be done...that would take waaaay too long. Just ask the judge. The WT doesn't lie.
:)
out at the mall with mrs. otwo, she sees a shirt on the rack that was marked down from $25 to just $4.
she holds it up and says, "should i buy this as a workout shirt?".
i tell her "no, because as soon as you figure out what it means, you won't wear it anymore.
otwo: OrphanCrow, Frosty has a magic hat. Mom and Dad must have missed that.
Actually...it was the 60s, and my mom came from a time when xmas was still celebrated in the JWs. My dad wasn't raised JW, he converted - that may have something to do with it. But, all the kids in our congregation sang along to Frosty. Times change, especially if you are a JW.
saw similar title in a google search so thought i'd read more and now simply have to share my experience if anything to hear that i'm not insane and it is that simple.. met and fell madly in love with a witness, and her with me.
what began as love at first sight turned into a 6 year relatiomship which simply ended very bluntly.
there were many painful twists and turns along the way, first from her inability to leave her husband, then my mistake in finding someone else as i simply couldn't take the pain of her coming and going with such simplicity, but in the end she got a divorce and suffered many consequences within 'the truth', and i sorted my issues which were many and admittedly dug with my own hands and stupidity in trying to protect a young girl who had done no wrong in this long affair.. eventually we found ourself on what i believed to be the home straight.
"her inability to leave her husband"
Well, there you go.
Ya shouldn't get involved with married people. If you have no respect for that...don't expect any respect back.
i tend to avoid the subject because it's too depressing, so i've probably missed lots of discussion about this issue.
but i read a comment on youtube yesterday that shocked me and made me wonder.
the person claimed that many years ago abusers in society generally identified jws as a safe haven for abusers and joined en masse order to exploit the situation.
sbf: Can it be prosecuted? Does it break a law?
In the context of work or school, yes. The behaviour breaks the law. How far that legal arm extends...and if those same laws can be applied to a religion...I am not sure.

If a women agrees to answer questions about her private life how is she not consenting?
Well...I will not go on and on about this, sbf. This is getting redundant. If you can't grasp that one simple concept of when consent is consent and when it isn't, and how it operates within the JW religion and their judicial process, then we are wasting our time discussing this further.
