  "Confidentiality" of Elders!

  something struck me the other day.. elders are told to maintain confidentiality with regard to the details of judicial cases or congregation "discipline" in an attempt to dignify individuals etc.. this is even the case for known child abusers!.

  yet, if they suspect someone of being an "apostate", for instance being a member on this forum, they will spread such information far and wide, through the witness "grape vine" to congregations miles away (or even in other countries).

  so, does that mean they place more importance on "apostasy" rather than child abuse?.

  Stuckinarut, you make a valid point about the difference in how 'sins' are treated by the elders.

  They will go to court, and to the ARC, and insist that if someone is found guilty of child abuse in their JC, that they MUST keep that information confidential.

  And yet...on the other hand, if someone is found guilty of apostasy in their JC (or maybe even just suspected of that grave sin), they will shout it from the rooftops. They will mark the homes of apostates as DNC and they will prohibit family members from speaking to them.

  Child abusers? Neh...even if they are convicted child rapists, they will be groomed for entry into the JWs or re-entry into their cult post-incarceration. They will visit them in jail and even baptize them while in jail. But it is a big no no to warn anyone in the congregation (unless they are the elders' wives and children). Confidentiality, you know

  But watch out for those apostates. Gotta warn everybody about them

  Question for science geeks

  do any of you know anything about prescription medications and their reactions?

  the doctors cannot explain why but i react to everything they prescribe to the point that now all my doctors are attempting neutral remedies before medication.

  tomorrow i am having surgery to drill a hole in my head to put in a titanium rod and we are doing local instead of general simply because it lessens the amount of needed drugs.

  Now I understand that certain people can do some pretty fantastic math calculations in their heads, but you are claiming that you just know answers without solving the problem. Sorry pop, what you are saying is outside of the realm of reality, therefore it is not reality. Shrinks have better names.

  You are being pedantic. I read rebel's words to mean that her and her son do not use the methods of equation solving that is taught in school. This is not unusual for some people

  polish: another question : among the college graduated witnesses, how many have used these years to learn to think by themselves? How many have taken a real benefit of this high education?
  I know several young college graduated witnesses who hare absolutely uable to thing by themselves and only repeat what other (and uneducated people) have taught them!
  So it's often a waste of time, for a well indocrinated witness to go to college!

  A few years ago, I had an encounter with a young JW woman. She spotted me walking and actually pulled her shiny new car over on the street, got out and approached this "derlelict" (me) walking (poor thing) and dressed in scarves, mitts, Army jacket (it was f***ing cold...I always dress for the weather).

  Anyways, I decided to engage her and challenged her on the WT's stance against education (she was shocked...a derelict that can talk? and reason? and is educated???). Her response was interesting.

  "Oh, but the WT doesn't forbid higher education. I have been to university!"

  "Oh? Really? What is your degree in?"

  "Physiotherapy. I have a four year degree. When Jehobah cleans up this earth, which will be soon, he will need people who can heal and work in medicine. Perfection of the body will come slowly and with the help of people like me."

  That conversation went well. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

  Brooklyn's dinosaur

  those of us who grew up with the nwt in our little hands probably remember this little guy - he might be a mascot of our generation, might he not?.

  for those unfamiliar with him, he graced the inside end sheets of the new world translation - the infamous green version - and was placed squarely in the center of what is now the sahara desert, i believe.. for decades, of course, i saw him, looked at him, thought "generic dinosaur.

  " then i began wondering - was he just a generic dinosaur?

  Another person that was significant in the character development of Indiana Jones was Frederick Courteney Selous.

  Selous was quoted by the WTS in the Feb 8, 1957 Awake! article Geology, the Bible and the Flood in support of their Canopy Theory.

  Nathan, your theory that the dinosaur was 'plagiarized' from another source is sound. At the time that the WTS compiled their version of the green dinosaur bibble, they were also neck deep in the water canopy myth. The connections are there to assume that the green bibble dino also appeared in books relevant to such people as Selous and Andrews

  Rebelfighter, I am not sure what your question is.

  However, from your description of how you react to pharmaceuticals, you may have a hyper-sensitive immune system

  I (and my daughter) have problems with reactions to certain classes of drugs

  Have you ever undertaken a series of tests to determine if you have sensitivities to certain substances? An allergy assessment? You may get some clues from taking those tests, if you haven't already. For example, my daughter tested positive for mold allergies and she cannot take penicillin without a reaction

  Toesup: The GB need to stop placing a halo over the elders heads. The written material giving these guys a glorified presence. Examples are, stars, loving shepherds, a port in a storm.

  Yeah...it depends on which 'written material' it is, that is actually read. The elders are given the title of "fund raising chairman" on tax returns

  all us creationists try to do is offer true evidence that the one and only god is out there watching and looking down on us.

  we present that certain scientists know the truth about god and that he is everything that we see from trees, life, weather, the air we breath, and even the most simple molecules.

  but of course you atheists reject it because it is your nature to not be humble and see god because you want to rule your own life.
