They are. The more a person knows, the more the world falls into place. I need some time to absorb what you just posted...have to resurrect some old knowledge files stuck back in my brain somewhere...and fit that in.

I am reminded of an interview that I watched that had been done with Simone Beauvior. She described her journey to being a non-believer in God and how she had rejected certain ideas about God, explored new ideas, all the while expanding her knowledge of the world around her, and finally "I realized one day, when I was 14 or 15, that I no longer believed. I had refined God so much that he was no longer relevant to the world"

Cofty, I think that cancer research would be an amazing field to be in.

I wish I knew more than I do about it - the subject fascinates me. The way you have described it, confirms that cancer has, indeed, always been with us. Have I understood that right?

My understanding of cancer is rudimentary and thanks for adding to it

COLORADO SPRINGS -66 year old Waymon Ivery is re-living a nightmare that happened more than two decades ago

“I Had no idea ...no clue as to the effect that it would have."
Sitting in the KOAA studio conference room,he admitted his regret.
Ivery is regretful for his actions, and effects it would have on his then 9-year old stepdaughter that he was convicted of molesting in Milwaukee Wisconsin in 1992.
His case came back to the forefront after a man named Roman Vargas approached Ivery with a video camera and surprised him with a question to a crime he had served nearly a year for, after being sentenced for 10 years.
But just hours after the video began to make the rounds on YouTube , Ivery was living what he thought was ancient history.
Commenters on social media websites began to make their opinion public. One person wrote: “...this cult's days are numbered.?" Another wrote “JW’s and child protection issues just don't seem to mix well. What is the matter with them.”
And that’s exactly why we posed the question to the religious group.
Several calls and emails were made to the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witness in New York...They went unanswered. We also tried to contact several elders within the group locally. They initially said they would contact us back with more information. But that never happened.
So we went in search of answers directly from the people who go door to door...
We found them knocking on the doors of Lazy Lane Circle in northeast Colorado Springs.
They were not too happy to see us, and told us that we should follow the instructions on their website. They slammed the mini van’s door on our camera’s.

Simon: BTW: studies have shown that people get the same enjoyment from supporting a team whether they are super-successful or not. The outcomes change but many of the feelings are the dame.That's why teams with little success can have great support for years

It is hilarious that immediately after Cofty posted the OP article, an emotionally-connected-to-god person comes on and does exactly what the article was illustrating! Hilarious.

The creationist's position of saying "evolution cannot be true because you don't know what caused it" is as stupid as going to a doctor with a rash, and then, when he gives you a diagnosis based on tests, observations and his accumulated knowledge about skin disorders, you say..."What caused this ugly rash all over my face?". Doc replies, "Medical science doesn't know what causes this rash". You say, "Well, then, you are wrong. I don't have a rash. You can't tell me what caused it so I don't have it."

Poof! The rash is gone. No cause so therefore...no rash.

I guess you could call that faith diagnosing...and faith healing. The condition magically disappears because the doctor doesn't know what caused it.

The problem is...when you go home and look in the mirror, your face is still red and ugly

ok, i am reading through the book the watchtower and the masons by fritz spring meier which i am finding a fascinating read; and discovered that judge rutherford published the book 'cause of death'.

what is incredible is the book cover.

the book was published in 1932 which would have been a little bit more eye catching back then.

Trolley cart "witnessing" is getting ridiculous

i really fail to see how much actual "witnessing" is occurring with the trolley carts.publishers, usually pioneers, just stand or sit there not engaging anyone and count their time.. the only thing i notice that it's accomplishing is brand exposure for jw.0rg so the public is exposed to the logo and literature/poster card headlines.. take for example this "evening" witnessing by a pioneer elder while on summer holiday/vacation.. .

is this not a wth kinda moment when you consider the years of slaving, knocking on doors, business territory and bible studies we had to keep performing so we weren't branded a "weak" publisher?.

that magical moment where the moon blocks out the sun!

but only just enough to perfectly cover the suns disc, whilst still allowing us to see the corona of light and other electromagnetic forces radiating from it.. this only happens because the moon diameter is exactly 1/400th the size of the suns and is positioned at exactly 1/400th of the distance between earth and the sun!so, when we see it from the surface of earth, we are in the only place this can ever be seen, at the only time it could ever happen.

That's fine. As long as you know that your mathematical view of the universe is not proof of a deity. It is when those numbers are used as a quasi-justification for the existence of "something beyond" that it becomes problematic

By the way, I find it interesting that you will make rambling, poorly constructed statements most of the time, and then...out of the blue, change your syntax and delivery to a recognizable and understandable form. It reads as tho someone is tag teaming you...I have noticed this strange occurrence on other threads too. Not important...just strange...hmmm...maybe it is an undiscovered pattern...

prologos: My point is That there is something beyond the natural outworkings of laws and energy here, , a kind of artistry present in our easily seen cosmic neighbourhood, that should give us pause, and yes,: "look ma what I found!"

To claim that naturally occurring patterns is indicative of "something beyond" is simply the creative ramblings of someone who desires that to be the outcome.
