This is why WT doctrine makes my head hurt. It isn't logical at all.

The biblical verse they are using to say that "the other sheep" should follow "the anointed" is speaking about foreign/rival nations coming into subjection to Israel. The other nations did not worship Israel's god.

How does that apply to "the other sheep" who already worship the same god as "the anointed slave class and the Governing Body"? Are the "other sheep" to be viewed as rival nations? Are the "other sheep" in opposition to the anointed and the GB?

At what point did "the nation of Israel" only apply to the "anointed slave class and the GB"? Does the WT's replacement theology not apply to all JWs?

I found my wifes new blood card

i would like to say i am not in and my wife is a marginal witness at best.

she doesn't say anything bad about the borg or live an amoral lifestyle.

she just doesn't read the bible, or even the tracts anymore and generally has no clue about anything biblical or doctorial related.. i found my wives new card yesterday.

hi guys.. im aware of the orgs blatant hints to donate, donate, donate to the org, the sacking of bethel staff, selling of buildings, reducing mags and books, emphasis on digital rather than physical books etc which is obviously a money saver - but are the wt org in money difficulty?

because elsewhere on here and on youtube there's stories of the watchtower being mega rich, one even called it "a billion dollar organization".

and if there is any money in there, who's benefiting off it?

For all the concern and activity that has been undertaken with where and how the WTS invests their money, I think that is mostly a moot point. The WTS has money. They spend it on all sorts of things - translation offices, literacy programs in developing countries, maintaining a hospital network, carts...

What is the most telling is where the donations come from - the gifts to the WTS. Where does the WTS get their money? Who are the biggest donors? Where do those donors have their money invested?

*to add - I think the most revealing and damning "list" that the WTS has is their list of donors. If a person could ever get their hands on a list of their biggest donors...who and how much...it would explain a LOT. Doctrinal twists and so much more

When I was looking at the Canadian charity site, I took a quick peek at the Mormons - the Latter Day Saints. I did some quick calculations - not sure if I had the right stats on membership...I think so. Anyways, those Mormons have donating down way better than the cheap Canadian JWs do.

If my figures and calculations were correct, the Mormons donate almost twice the amount per membership than the JWs do. In Canada, at least.

The Watch Tower Society has their work cut out for them.

And the Jehovah's Witnesses have to get over themselves - that "free ticket" that Russell promised you was pie in the sky. If you want to be a JW, it is gonna cost you.

People talk about how to take down the Watch Tower Society. It really is simple. You take down the industries and businesses that she has received money from over all these years. You go after the whore's johns. Stop the john trade.

The donations. The "gift$". The "favor$" given. From the big john$. The ones with money. Who get tax breaks and favors (propaganda, etc) from "donating".

vidiot: ... being "rich in assets" and being "flush with revenue flow" are not the same thing.

Especially when you are a charity.

We know that the WTS operates as a business. They always have.

But...for the purposes of appearing as a charity, their property/assets must not exceed what it has coming in and going out for charitable purposes. Charities must have cash flow. Selling real estate does not count as cash flow in a charity. That involves capital, not donations.

Donations are the defining feature of charities. Without donations - no charity.

And as far as closing Kingdom Halls go...that is likely to compensate for the big projects - to balance out for having too much property/assets sunk into Warwick.

*to add - if the WTS is having financial difficulties, where I think those difficulties lie is a reduction in large donations. ie...they have lost some major donations that they would usually get or were counting on. Big donors with big $$$ may have reduced or stopped donating. So the WTS has to target the little people to step up to the plate.

I think you are understanding it correctly, Diogenesister. I hope I have understood it correctly!

It seems like the disbursement quota is a guideline that is followed in order to ensure that a charity really is a charity and as a way of measuring the charity's 'health'. The 20/80 is optimum but there is a variance allowed. The disbursement quota is public so that potential donors can decide to donate or not based on how much of their donation will actually go to charitable activities.

Other countries may not have a 'set-in-stone" disbursement quota for charities, but, it is likely that it is a factor in determining if an organization is a charity or a foundation or a for profit enterprise. A charity cannot exist for the purpose of accumulating wealth - it must collect donations and it must disburse those donations.

There are others who say otherwise.

In 2009, Ezekiel J Emanuel, MD, PhD, attended an FDA conference concerning biologics, blood and vaccine safety.

Here is what Mr. Emanuel said about the safety of blood transfusions when speaking at that FDA conference (from pg 251 of the FDA hearing transcripts. The document is no longer available online but I have it in my archives somewhere. Anyone who seriously wants to check the source, please pm me):

...red cells are just very, very safe, probably the safest intervention that the whole healthcare system uses.
You know, some of you may know about the six sigmas in production, that if you can get the six sigmas, you know, you're very, very safe. The airline industry gets there, other -- your cell phone gets there and it turns out that, as best as I can see, red cells are probably the only thing we do in the healthcare system that passes the six sigma rate.
The six sigma rate is 0.4 defects in a million episodes. It's just really tremendously safe.

Red Blood cells. The safest intervention that the whole healthcare system uses. According to Mr. Emmanuel (who has impressive credentials).

Who do you believe? Who do you trust? The six sigma rate man who said that at an FDA hearing? or the PBM crew who are aligned with the WT? Who do you think has better science?
