There are 0.5 cases of perioperative coma
There are 1.4 deaths associated with anaesthesia
That is, if the possibility of death or coma is 0.5-8.8 per 10,000 operations, the strategy of non-transfusion-risk places this 50-150/10.000 interventions. This means that the risk is 20-100 times higher.
These statistics have been made in different years, and therefore medical technology may have improved this situation. However, we have not found in medical literature most recent statistics in terms of morbidity and mortality associated with strict non-transfusion strategy.

Does anybody know at what point the Hospital Information Services get a kickback from this company?
At what point in the distribution network is the HLC involved? This cell saver was trialed on Jehovah's Witness patients - that is an indication of HLC invovlement.
And...are there JWs who profit from this company? Are there JWs invested in Advantis Surgical and/or Brightwake? Does Advantis sponsor any of the JWs who are in the HLC network?
seen a few discussions asking if the wts are hurting for $$ or still sitting on a mountain of gold.. regardless of their child abuse legal fees and ongoing broadcasting for more dough, i believe they have piles and piles of cash.. talked with a diff'd accountant who sat in the accounting dept.
at the conventions for years.. a football stadium (or the like) costs them about $70 - 90,000 to rent for a 3 day dub show.
they take in $400,000 in donations from the r&f.

This case is drawing a lot of attention. Facebook is pretty active.
I think that the Canadian setting is making a difference - Canada has a public health system so the public is naturally interested. Special treatments demanded by the JWs cost all of Canada extra and the treatment that Eloise did get was expensive. And we are a small country - she was everybody's neighbor.
The blood refusal deaths don't always get media coverage but this one is an example of how much collateral damage occurs when a JW patient enters a hospital with a no blood card. So many others impacted and traumatized. This death was like a physiological and emotional bomb going off that spread its ugly shrapnel everywhere - family, friends, medical staff...the whole country is feeling the pain and wondering why

Well, the JWs can say what they like but a Canadian coroner might have a bit different standards than they do.
The coroner in this case is Luc Malouin. I couldn't find much about his qualifications or background other than he has investigated some significant cases.
I did find this which explains what to expect for Canadian coroner qualifications:
The provinces of Alberta,[7] Manitoba,[8] Nova Scotia[9] and Newfoundland and Labrador[10] have a Medical Examiner system, meaning that all death investigations are conducted by specialist physicians trained in Forensic Pathology, with the assistance of other medical and law enforcement personnel. All other provinces run on a coroner system. In Prince Edward Island, and Ontario, all coroners are, by law, physicians. In the other provinces and territories with a coroner system, namely British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Quebec, New Brunswick, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon, coroners are not necessarily physicians but generally have legal, medical, or investigative backgrounds.
Of course there will be the true believers who will remain true believers in the face of whatever. But, there will also be those, both in the JWs and in the public, who will be waiting with great interest to discover what the Quebec coroner has to say
