This case is drawing a lot of attention. Facebook is pretty active.
I think that the Canadian setting is making a difference - Canada has a public health system so the public is naturally interested. Special treatments demanded by the JWs cost all of Canada extra and the treatment that Eloise did get was expensive. And we are a small country - she was everybody's neighbor.
The blood refusal deaths don't always get media coverage but this one is an example of how much collateral damage occurs when a JW patient enters a hospital with a no blood card. So many others impacted and traumatized. This death was like a physiological and emotional bomb going off that spread its ugly shrapnel everywhere - family, friends, medical staff...the whole country is feeling the pain and wondering why
So many people are horrified by this senseless death of a young mother who had been instilled with a blood phobia from birth.
