Wannaexit, I just watched Peter deliver the National. It was a super good piece of journalism. Very well done. thanks for drawing our attention to it.

The story about the JWs comes about 17:15 into the broadcast, following a story about the judge who is going to be fired for his horrible ruling on a rape case and the remarks he had made to the rape victim. A strong lead story with strong statements from Canada's legal system that they will not tolerate a judicial system that treats victims of sexual assault badly. Best story that could have opened for this broadcast.

Then CBC does a piece about Standing Rock. Again, Good coverage.

Next comes Castros' funeral journey back to his resting place - a 1000 km journey. A pretty important news story. An event of historical and political importance. On the site reporting in Cuba.

Then Peter gets all serious. Really serious. He warns the viewers that the next story could be disturbing to some. And that it came to their news desk from Radio-Canada. He introduces the JW child abuse story.

Two and a half minutes about the injustices being exposed within the JW religion. First, here in Canada as an intro to Radio-Canada's upcoming program and then background from the ARC. Angus Stewart got a spot.

And Barbara - you were great, as always. Real and honest - good clips and such poise! Your voice is so clear and strong, for all of us and for those who cannot speak. Thank you.

Awesome.

I was hoping CBC would pick this story up.

Good to hear. My dad watches the National every night. It is the mainstay news source for many rural Canadians. Especially the older generation.

but, he is as real as next breath you draw into your nostrils.. some of you say that there is no evidence that he exists.

yet, none of you can prove that he does not exits.. cofty, (you come to mind), i appreciate that you have stated, without reservation, that you do not believe that god exists.. yet, you cannot prove it.. hope in jehovah..

Why Did JWs Abandon Brooklyn for the Sticks?

i may have missed this, but can anyone tell me what was the pretext the gb concocted to justify their abandonment of a perfectly suitable, high-profile, high-visibility complex in what is arguably the world's greatest metropolis for the bucolic isolation of upstate new york.

any how does the move square with their purported belief in the imminence of armageddon?

I think their hot-line to Jah was working over-time.

It was a prophetic move. Jah told them that Trump was taking over New York - traffic snarls and all that...and THEN, when Jared came to them, they knew it. It was a sign from above. Time to move Jah's earthly throne.

And, Jah didn't let them down. They now have a lovely wilderness getaway for Jah to relax and avoid that horrible traffic and security issue hitting New York now

To all elders, some probing questions on assault by a member by another member.

you happen to be driving by what looks to be your own empty kingdom hall and something doesn't look quite right.

Yes, Steve, many places have rape and assault crisis centers which are staffed by invaluable first responders for traumatized victims.

And that is the point of them - they exist - these safe places for victims, as a place where people who witness abuse can take the victim for help. A "young" sister who has been assaulted is not in the frame of mind to make a mature decision about who knows about the assault or who gets contacted. If a young woman/sister has obvious physical signs of being assaulted, or, as in the first case, reveals to you that a crime has been committed against her, your first response is to ignore her pleadings and take her directly to a hospital to get suitable medical care. I would never just take her home. She would be taken to a hospital, they would assess her and likely engage the police if a crime had been committed.

Hospital first - figure things out as you go but never, never just take a traumatized assault victim home. For all you know, the young woman who was sexually assaulted could have internal hemorrhaging.

Often, victims are not in the right frame of mind to make a decision that is best for them. Take a woman back home who has just been punched by her fiance? And then what? Wait for something worse to happen? Or, take her somewhere that she can at least see if her cheekbone is cracked?

Nope. Not me, I wouldn't take either of them home, regardless of what they said. I would take them both to wherever they would get the proper care. They are both in crisis and I would have no way of assessing what they would do to themselves once they arrived home and besides, the first "young" sister would need to have a rape kit done - in her best interests whether she thought so or not at the time.

That's the way I would respond.

Crisis of Conscience: December 12, 2015 - 50 weeks later

i am presently considering three different routes to publishing crisis of conscience.

i hope to make a decision within days and plan to publish within weeks.. it has now been 50 weeks since that statement.. has the book been published yet?

Australian Jehovah's Witnesses are ignorant of the Australian Royal Commission

many here have asked how the average witness in australia is taking the news of the arc findings and conclusions.. is it affecting them?.

sorry to say, hardly any are even aware of the facts.

those that are, have been convinced that all the publicity is "apostate lies and satanic propaganda".

Here are some comments that I stole from reddit about the Australian JWs responses to the ARC:

"I kid you not.. Just speaking to a worldly friend of mine here in Australia. His boss is a witness.

Anyway told my mate about the ARC report just released.

He then tells me his boss took him for coffee a few months ago. The JW elder then says to my mate I suppose you have heard about the ARC. Well I want to let you know the JW's are in the clear.

He went on to say the ARC were so impressed with the witnesses that they want other institutions to adopt their procedures.

Yep he said we got a big wrap from the ARC."

"The elders where i live in Australia told rank and file who asked about the Royal Commission into child abuse that " it had been dealt with and Jehovah's Witnesses got a good report"

This was about September 2015. ..before any final findings had been handed down by The Royal Commission."

"Some of my JW acquaintances said it never happened. That it's all a elaborate ruse put out by apostates. Including the website of the ARC."

LTPF: Then what about when the media says good things about JW's, then of course it must be the truth?

Of course it is. Those news pieces are just fluff. The Watchtower has been doing press releases for decades. It is their favorite way to get into newspapers.

My dad used to be the one who would take the Watchtower's "news" article about the circuit assembly that had arrived in the mail from 'the society', make a few small changes to it (so it wasn't exactly the same as all the other assembly "news" items that the JWs would release about their assembly) and then set up a meeting with the newspaper to give them his "press release" and talk to the editor. The article always ran exactly as my dad had submitted it.

Of course those "good" pieces are the truth - they come from The Truth, after all.
