Eh, the WTS has probably trained all those translation "experts" by using Harry Cotton's ESL courses as a foundation entry point.
Old Harry Cotton's interests are being looked after well, I would imagine.
what do you think about these things.
it seems like a monumental waste of time and money, a pipe dream of the governing body based on wishful thinking.
this corporation is going down the tubes with these asshole deluded genius's calling the financial investment shot.. buying chemical dump property around the world to build their financial empire headquarters on while facing massive child molestation lawsuits now and many more in the future means it looking kind of bleak for these messed idiots running things.. http://jw-branchoffices.blogspot.com/p/watchtower-remote-translation-offices.html.

hi orphancrow.
thought you might be interested in the following, brief, court case summary.
high court family division - 18 november 2016an nhs foundation hospital v mr and mrs t. http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/ewhc/fam/2016/2980.html.
darkspliver: But also, I suppose, it was a strange rant/useage, as this is an example of the 'elders' and 'governing body' very much taking a back seat and letting the court/hospital take the lead, without any drama or f'ing and blinding.
Which is probably the best compromise and the reason why I wanted to flag this up with OrphanCrow.
The parent's made written representations regarding their wishes and did not attend the court, the hospital was happy to follow those wishes, with the priviso that they could adminster a blood transfusion, if needed. The judge agreed. End of case. I thought the brief write-up and comments of the Judge were interesting, which is again why I flagged it up for OrphanCrow.
It isn't that strange or odd if you take into consideration the decades of losing cases that the WT has faced whenever their child sacrifice practice gets challenged. For a bit of background on how the law has been handled in the case of minor children whose parents will let them die for a "god"...this is a good place to start:
http://jwdivorces.bravehost.com/bloode.html
The Watchtower has known since 1944 that child sacrifice will not hold up in court but that hasn't stopped them from continually challenging the Prince ruling:
Where Witness parents wish to refuse blood transfusions for their minor children, American law generally does not permit them to do so if there is no alternative course of acceptable medical treatment. As the US Supreme Court observed in the 1944 case of Prince v. Massachusetts, 72 “Parents may be free to become martyrs themselves. But it does not follow that they are free, in identical circumstances, to make martyrs of their children before they have reached the age of full and legal discretion when they can make that choice for themselves.”
Australia has a Blood Transfusion Act that has been in place since 1960 that will allow a minor child to be transfused (details at first link).
In some areas of the world, the legal standards are such that a case like happened in the UK doesn't even get filed - that child gets transfused regardless of whether the parents follow a barbaric religious practice of child sacrifice. And, many many cases go through the courts on a regular basis - they just don't make the news.
What the Watchtower has done - for reasons the reader can discern for themselves - is to ignore the law on minor children and continue to make the adherence to child sacrifice a measurement of adult JWs' spiritual standing.
The secular world has recognized the right of a minor child to have access to life saving measures. The Watchtower does not recognize that the child has rights - they have continually pushed for the right of the family to be a sealed unit. That has been their legal argument from Day One - both with blood and with child sex abuse.
A child, to the WTS, is property. To be used and abused as anyone sees fit. Including up for grabs to be used in the medical industry as tiny little guinea piggies.
As far as the profanity goes...it is only extreme profanity that is a problem here, from what I have been able to discern.
So...fuck the Watchtower Society and fuck all those parents who blindly lay their babies on the altar of the Blood God Jehovah. Fuck them all.
canada : new documentary on pedophilia amongst jehovah's witnesses.
will air on thursday dec. 1, 9h00 pm on radio-canada in french.. http://ici.radio-canada.ca/tele/enquete/2016-2017/.
Yalbmert, have you found the transcripts yet? My French is really bad and I can't find my way around that site very well. I was told that there should be both English and French transcripts for their shows
Yes. Waiting and wanting an English version really really bad! That was a tremendous documentary and it deserves as many views as possible. Emails to Radio Canada will help that process. Jus' sayin'

yalbmert: Wow that report was a bombshell!!
Yes!!! One of the best I have ever seen. Those Frenchies sure know their stuff. They put together a compelling and comprehensive expose that is well worth being distributed far and wide.
I have limited French skills but I picked up bit and pieces. And then, of course, so many familiar faces and stories and names came later and in places during the film. People we all know and have seen before.
Well done to each and every person who had a hand in making this production happen - years and years of work behind this documentary. And every tiny bit has been important to get to where we are now
So happy to see this
Hoping to see an English version soon.
Yaaayyyy!!!! Radio Canada - you made a good one!
we have seen that the society falls back on the line "it is the victims right to approach the authorities" during all the abuse claims.. they use this excuse to try and defend the passive lack of action in failing to report suspected cases of abuse.. a comparison came to mind:.
if we came across a person lying in the street who says they were hit by a car, would we say "it is your absolute right to call the paramedics and police"?.
or would we take the initiative and call those authorities ourselves to help the person?.
Stuckinarut: We have seen that the society falls back on the line "It is the victims right to approach the authorities" during all the abuse claims.
They use this excuse to try and defend the passive lack of action in failing to report suspected cases of abuse.
That excuse peed me right off. The WTS claims that they don't report because the process could traumatize the victim. What a lame and pathetic excuse.
The WTS has used children for years and years to take on the court system.
First they started with the flag salute challenge back in the 30s and 40s. Did they care then if the legal system would traumatize those children? No. They didn't give a flying **** if the children would be traumatized by being pulled out of school, beat up, and then be taken to court to make sure the WTS won their court cases. They didn't care that their legal challenge resulted in one boy even getting castrated. They didn't leave it up to those kids to decide to go to court - they let those kids be charged and dragged into court.
Then came the blood transfusion challenges. Does the WTS care about those children being traumatized by the court system? No. Of course not. The WT lawyers and blood police are there in a heartbeat when a child's life is in danger, filing court papers, putting the child through all sorts of legal hoops and processes, regardless of how traumatizing it is to the child facing death. They don't give the kid the choice to take it to court when it is their precious blood ban on the line.
And now...to make the excuse that "it is up to the victim" because "the legal system traumatizes the victim". As though the WTS cares about the victim. They never have and they never will. Their history proves it. It is a pathetic excuse.

vidiot: ...tougher than we look, and disinclined to tolerate bullshit.
It's because of all the moose up here, Vidiot.
I was told by a hunter that the moose is the one of the most dangerous animals in the bush to hunt. He said that if you don't know how to track them, that the moose will double back on you, come up behind you, and kill you. Trample you to death and leave your bones for the coyotes and wolves to pick over.
Canadians know how to hunt moose. We know to watch our backs when hunting the beast of the bush

I know someone who knows someone...you know...that kind of thing
Anyways, if Radio-Canada receives enough interest and requests, they will likely run an English version. Let them know that you want to hear it in English, and they will gladly air another edition. Just because they are French down there doesn't mean they can't or won't speak English!
There will be both English and French transcripts available on Radio-Canada's website.
And, I wouldn't be surprised if the dubbing is or has happened. Lots of time before it airs. Easy to dub. Just a little bit of overtime for the CBC Radio-Canada crew and super support from our one and only Peter Mansbridge.
So, if you have a few free minutes, send Radio-Canada a quick note and ask for the program to be re-aired in English. It would probably happen if there are enough requests

Mélanie Poirier was 10 when she started taking piano lessons and it would prove to be an experience that changed her life forever. At that very first lesson, she said, her piano teacher sexually assaulted her. It went on for five years.
"Week after week, at every piano lesson, he would masturbate in front of me. And he would ask me to touch him," Poirier told Radio-Canada's investigative program, Enquête.
Her father, Benoît Poirier, was in the next room waiting for her lesson to be over, completely unaware, she said.
Poirier said she couldn't tell her father, who was a Jehovah's Witness elder, or anyone else what was happening because her piano teacher was also an elder in the congregation that her family belonged to in a Montreal suburb.
"He was well-known, an elder, an example to follow," she said.
The biggest obstacle, however, was the fact she didn't have a second witness to the alleged abuse — a key requirement of the church's internal judicial system.
"If I told anyone, nothing would have happened. I wouldn't be believed. The elders wouldn't have even stopped to listen to me," Poirier said.
Internal policies — and no police
The Poiriers are among several former Jehovah's Witnesses in Quebec and the United States who spoke to Enquête about the church's policies for dealing with allegations of child sexual abuse and their failure to protect victims.Among those policies: complainants are made to answer inappropriate questions if they report an assault, and their stories must be corroborated by a second witness for a case to even be heard by an internal judicial committee. Until this past summer, accusers were also forced to confront their alleged abuser before a panel of elders.
Radio-Canada also heard allegations that a five-year-old boy from a Quebec congregation was made to repeat his story in front of the man he said abused him. The boy's mother told Enquête the allegations were dismissed because the child did not have a second witness to the alleged assault.
In its investigation, Radio-Canada obtained a questionnaire designed to guide Jehovah's Witness elders interviewing children alleging sexual abuse. It includes the question: "How many elders believe the victim is to blame or willingly participated in the act?"
The questionnaire was drafted by the headquarters of the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, in the state of New York. The Watchtower Society declined Enquête's request for an interview.
The CBC is doing an excellent job of covering this story and giving voice to those who have been victimized.

Wannaexit, I just watched Peter deliver the National. It was a super good piece of journalism. Very well done. thanks for drawing our attention to it.
The story about the JWs comes about 17:15 into the broadcast, following a story about the judge who is going to be fired for his horrible ruling on a rape case and the remarks he had made to the rape victim. A strong lead story with strong statements from Canada's legal system that they will not tolerate a judicial system that treats victims of sexual assault badly. Best story that could have opened for this broadcast.
Then CBC does a piece about Standing Rock. Again, Good coverage.
Next comes Castros' funeral journey back to his resting place - a 1000 km journey. A pretty important news story. An event of historical and political importance. On the site reporting in Cuba.
*those are the 3 stories I remember - I was cooking while I listened. missed some
Then Peter gets all serious. Really serious. He warns the viewers that the next story could be disturbing to some. And that it came to their news desk from Radio-Canada. He introduces the JW child abuse story.
Two and a half minutes about the injustices being exposed within the JW religion. First, here in Canada as an intro to Radio-Canada's upcoming program and then background from the ARC. Angus Stewart got a spot.
And Barbara - you were great, as always. Real and honest - good clips and such poise! Your voice is so clear and strong, for all of us and for those who cannot speak. Thank you.
And a big thanks to Peter Mansbridge. My hero.

wannaexit: The content of this documentary was a feature of the CBC the National tonight.
Awesome.
I was hoping CBC would pick this story up.
Good to hear. My dad watches the National every night. It is the mainstay news source for many rural Canadians. Especially the older generation.
