MNLifeagent: I wasn't sure if finances were already addressed in excess.
Lol! Those finances are addressed. Believe me, they are addressed already. Excessively.
All excess money is to be given to JWorg. Including children's ice cream money.
i am not a jehovah's witness, although i do respect your religion entirely.
i am 27 years old, and live in minnesota.
i have an older cousin, who's mother (not with my uncle -separated when my cousin was a baby) had been a witness, grew up in your word, and about 12 years ago she fully converted.

i found this amusing and ironic, but in a nutshell.
stay on the yellow brick road, do as we say and want, and we promise you courage, a heart, a brain and a ticket back home (spirtual paradise now/ physical paradise soon/ resurrection guaranteed )... .
don't ask too many questions or look behind the big curtain, just believe us or you'll fall apart and die... (research or study on your own/internet/ researching the governing body leads to weakness and disfellowshipping).
UL: Life imitates art?
No. Art imitates life. That is why myth can be so believable.
Personally, I like Chicken Little
i was invited to a congregation in ontario, canada today and as soon as the meeting opened the brother conducting the meeting said there was a very important statement coming from the borg.
this talk replaced the two last parts of "living as a christian" section.
he started reading a letter from the borg about how much they loved us.
"- The media has decided to ignore all the material on JW.org regarding Child Abuse despite them telling to look into the articles, broadcasting and magazine articles about protecting the child(s) /members of the cong."
They just don't get it, do they? Their frustration must be hitting the roof - "we say we do things this way, but nobody is believing us".
The org is being judged on their actions, not by what they say they do. The tactic of saying one thing to the public but behaving differently behind closed doors isn't going to work this time.
It is time for the org to walk the talk and they don't know how to do it. They have been lying for so long that they don't know how to tell the truth. They have no truth to tell.
their fundamental beliefs are much like jehovah's witnesses sans the paranoia, authoritarianism, stifling rules, and end-times enthusiasm.
you don't even have to become a bible student to be saved, you could be an idol worshipping heathen and still get resurrected in the milenium.
if i still believed in the divine inspiration of the scriptures, i would be a bible student.
Londo111: I felt guilty about it because: (1) Watchtower said not to take literature (2) The Bible Students were somehow related to the "evil slave".
Yes, I have always been under the impression that the Bible Students were the "evil slave".
I know that the "International Bible Students Association" is still used in the UK but I didn't know that the International Bible Students of Brooklyn were still affiliated with the WTS.
The end credits of the "Transfusion Alternatives" that was produced by the WTS includes the International Bible Students of Brooklyn as a co-producer (29:09):

Coroner, police investigating, MNAs call for inquiry
Their concerns have now been taken up by two Coalition Avenir Québec MNAs, Simon Jolin-Barrette and Lise Lavallée, who want a parliamentary committee to look into the issue.
A Quebec coroner is already investigating Dupuis's death and that of another Jehovah's Witness woman, Mirlande Cadet, to determine if their refusal of blood met legal and medical standards for free and informed consent.
Police in Lévis, where Dupuis died in hospital, are also investigating her death after Boyer lodged a complaint about the alleged behaviour of a Jehovah's Witness hospital liaison committee at the hospital.

Wonder: Crow are you coming outside for a smoke?
Sure. Why not? I have some good green stuff here. We will stand outside, quote bibble scriptures and let that sweet sweet smell waft up to the Lord above.
"...I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?"
they offered themselves willingly—in new yorkricky, a construction project manager in hawaii, was invited to serve as a commuter bethelite to assist with the warwick project.
his wife, kendra, wanted him to accept the invitation.
however, they had a legitimate concern: the welfare of their 11-year-old son, jacob.
Oh my...what can possibly go wrong...
It is just so Catholic. Monks and young boys
the issue of whether or not the elders have a duty to report is clear cut in canada.
this will make it impossible for the wts to wriggle out of the wrongs that have been exposed in quebec recently.
the elders in those situations have received their instructions from the wts lawyers and they have been advised wrongly.. for several years (can't remember when this was made law...years back), it has been mandatory for everyone in canada to report suspected cases of child abuse, which, naturally, include the sexual abuse of minors.

For several years (can't remember when this was made law...years back), it has been mandatory for everyone in Canada to report suspected cases of child abuse, which, naturally, include the sexual abuse of minors. A person doesn't have to know for sure if a child is being sexually abused...they just have to suspect and they have a "duty to report".
From the FAQs page of Canadian Child Welfare Research Portal:
Do I need to report child abuse and neglect?
Yes. Everyone has a duty to report child abuse and neglect under Canadian child welfare laws. Professionals who work with children and youth have an added responsibility to report.
You are obliged to report child maltreatment if you know or suspect it is occurring. This is called the 'duty to report'. Every person in Canada has the duty to report known or suspected child maltreatment by law.
And who does a person report to?
Who do I call if I suspect child abuse or neglect?
Known or suspected abuse or neglect of a child must be reported to:
local child welfare services (e.g., children’s aid society or child and family services agency), or
provincial/territorial social service ministries or departments, or
local police
You will note that the Watchtower Legal Department is not included in that list as to "who to call".
For all Canadian elders who received legal advice from the WTS, I think you have received really bad advice. And, that includes each and every person who knew about, or even suspected, child abuse happening in the congregation. The mandatory reporting laws include everybody - you, me...every single Canadian. The parents of that child, the neighbors, the ones in the congregation that suspected the abuse was occurring...all of them.
People think they are exempt from reporting if they aren't acting in a professional capacity. In Canada, you are not exempt.
I myself have reported to the authorities, on more than one occasion, suspected child abuse. I make no apologies for doing so and, sometimes, it has involved family and friends. How else would I know about it except that I was close to the situation? Yes...I was the one who called...if anyone needs to know.
Why? Because I know my legal responsibility. Not just my moral responsibility - my legal responsibility is to report to authorities when I see or suspect a minor is being harmed. And I do that. And not just when my job has required it - I do it in my personal and social life.
The JWs do not take legal and social responsibility and in Canada, the law is clear on mandatory reporting. Very clear.

I am still thinking about this....more thoughts
You will notice what it is that the parents are pleading for in this case. They already know that they cannot oppose a blood transfusion for their child:
"They are understandably unable to consent to what is being proposed but they do not oppose it and leave the decision to the Court."
So what is all the fuss about taking this to court? a case that they don't "oppose"?
Here we go:
"They emphasise that they would want forms of treatment other than the administration of blood products to be considered..."
And there we have it - the reason why the WTS continues to oppose the law on the matter of child sacrifice - to promote their alternative brand of medicine.
One more thought.
This concerns the Society's position in Australia that a mandatory reporting law for child abuse would fix the problem down there. Sez who? Why would the courts believe that? The WTS' record of respecting the law on minor children is completely the opposite. Laws that have been in place to protect children from having their parents use them for a sacrifice to the Blood God have been challenged over and over again in the courts. Why would we expect anything different with the laws put in place to protect victims of sex abuse when laws protecting the minor victims of their blood doctrine are still being challenged?
what do you think about these things.
it seems like a monumental waste of time and money, a pipe dream of the governing body based on wishful thinking.
this corporation is going down the tubes with these asshole deluded genius's calling the financial investment shot.. buying chemical dump property around the world to build their financial empire headquarters on while facing massive child molestation lawsuits now and many more in the future means it looking kind of bleak for these messed idiots running things.. http://jw-branchoffices.blogspot.com/p/watchtower-remote-translation-offices.html.
Eh, the WTS has probably trained all those translation "experts" by using Harry Cotton's ESL courses as a foundation entry point.
Old Harry Cotton's interests are being looked after well, I would imagine.
