  i'll start with the first study article.. this study article deals with vows made to jehovah.

  three main vows are discussed.. 1) your dedication to jehovah.

  we are told that it is not possible to claim that our baptism was not valid .

  IownMylife: I think this film touches on almost all the info we know about the subject. The personal experiences are told very well and effectively.

  And I would like to add...in this film, Barbara's poise and intelligence shines brightly as always. The producer did a fine job of showing the viewers the history of how all this has come about and Barbara's vital contribution. The early photos of Barbara and Joe were great

  No. this is not "just a re-hash".

  This is a version that has been done by the crew at Radio Canada - the crew who produced it to begin with. This is an official translation and they have been generous to put the work into the voice overs and editing required to give us an official copy to distribute.

  Much thanks to the people in Quebec who spent the time to do this for us.

  Question on the Special Order... document and its implications

  several times on this forum posts have been made about the "order of special full-time servants" in the wts and the document that must be signed by those entering it, bethelites, cos, and so on.

  the reason given for the whole thing has usually been for tax purposes, that by signing this document full-timers become exempt from taxation by belonging to this special group.

  basically then, end of story.. however, there is a clause in said document stating that any money made by the full-time worker beyond the allowance given by the society has to be turned over to the society.

  careful: Does anyone have any reliable info on this matter of having to sacrifice their independent income? Has the GB become so money hungry that even this source has wound up being "collected"?

  Those who sign a "vow of poverty" - Bethelites, COs, special pioneers, etc - are required, to turn over secular income to the religious institution they belong to, or lose their vow of poverty status

  Is it morally wrong to put Watchtower behind?

  with our latest and final run in with the elders, the wife and i had a very long talk about what's next in our life.

  do we try to help others see the light as it were concerning watchtower or do we just let it go and move on with our life?

  we have made it perfectly clear that we will never go back to watchtower and we are finally happy.

  Second, most congregations new bylaws or articles of incorporation gives the authority to vote on matters of property to either the BOE or to active members of a congregation, so if someone is no longer an active member of the congregation then they don't have a vote in the matter.

  
  And that is exactly why this case is relevant to the JWs.

  This is one of the purposes of strict disfellowshipping practices. If the congregations weren't "kept clean", it would be legally possible for a majority of members to block the sale of property.

  Thanks for posting these images. I find Beth Shan to be fascinating.

  The history of this place is really odd - it was at the Children of the King assemblies in 1941 that Rutherford talked to the children about a "Real live Prince and Real live Princess" that would rule in the new world. That would have been when this highly secure location was built for the family of Wm Heath to live in. His children were Deborah and Barack - the prince and princess.
