PS, Most people dont know, but JWs always get the very best medical treatment. If medical staff know they absolutely can not transfuse blood, then they have to give the very best medical care from the start.
Watchtower propaganda.
What a load of bullshit. So f***ing high that it stinks to high heaven.
If that were the case, then why has over 100,000 JWs died from refusing blood??????
If you call being a guinea pig for bloodless medicine "getting the best treatment"...then go ahead, die for the profit of the bloodless medicine industry. Lay your babies on the altar of the blood god Jehovah.
since the watchtowers' lawyers have (a) failed to make any recommendations to the arc that would bring the watchtower up to date with "best practices and procedures" (b) have failed to submit a proposal for victim restitution (c) have failed to secure funding for a redress scheme and (d) have completely dismissed all the arcs' findings - what's the royal commission's next course of action?.
i see two possibilities:.
) negotiate a settlement with the watchtower.
Jeremiah: The only hope for new converts is in third world countries without ready access to the internet. However, without new converts in advanced countries, the money will dry up.
Unless, of course, the WTBS gets government aid for all their wonderful work in language revitalization and translation and such...you know...for literacy programs and all that. JWs who are in third world and developing countries will apply for government aid to fund their 'literacy' programs (it is already happening in Africa).
New converts will happen in developed countries as well. Maybe slower, but they will be there. Besides, the JWs with money will continue to 'contribute' to ensure that the WTS teaches the congregants in the 'correct' way to live their lives (and die)...the way that will profit the wealthy JWs.

talesin: shepherdless - we are Commonwealth cousins, and I figured (from what I've read) that the ARC is similar to our system,.There are similarities between Canada and Australia. The process that I am thinking of in Canada that is somewhat similar to the ARC is the work that has been done, and is being done, to address the historical abuse of indigenous people in Canada.
The Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples was launched in 1991 and the report released in 1996.
This was followed by an independent class action lawsuit by residential school survivors against the Government of Canada. Merchant Law Group negotiated the residential school payments and a judgment was issued against the Government of Canada in 2005 (court authorized notice).
In December 2015, the Truth Reconciliation Report was released after years in the making. The TRC took seven years - it was established in 2008.
And the newest inquiry to finally, finally begin to get underway, is an inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in Canada.
Also, in Canada, punitive damages are hard to win, and amounts awarded are pretty much infinitesimal compared to the ones in the USA.I know people who received varying amounts from the class action lawsuit launched by the Merchant Law Group. The lowest individual payment, that I have heard of, was $10,000 and the highest was $100,000.
this video will be played at one of the clam meetings in march 2016.. the content is kind of old news because it is a recut version of a previous video produced for the elder's school.
however, it's still significant because it shows that the organization still has dissenting brothers in positions of leadership.. my thanks to the leaker.
feel free to claim credit here.
You are welcome, Jhine.
For anyone who is faced with having to deal with someone who is suicidal, here is some good advice:
http://www.suicide.org/how-to-help-a-suicidal-person.html
note this little item:
do not allow untrained individuals to act as the only couselors to the individual
Having a "Bibble trained conscience" does not qualify someone to be a suicide prevention counsellor.

At the end of the video, I couldn't figure out if that creepy elder was thanking Jehovah for the magical recovery of a suicidal sister or if he was really happy that he was getting cookies.
I rarely watch WT propaganda but I did watch this video. Very, very disturbing. So disturbing in fact, that two suicide prevention organizations now have a copy of that video in their inbox.
I sent an email and the video to:
Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention
World Health Organization - Suicide Prevention
I think that the rest of the world needs to know how dangerous the JW cult is for people with mental health problems. I don't know if my emails will be considered, but maybe both organizations (and other suicide prevention associations) need to be flooded with emails from concerned people.
jhine: I know that they had to choose between a man or a woman and maybe would have chosen either , but are they implying that women are mentally more unstable ?
Of course it was deliberate. The woman is always cast as the victim - that way, the men get to look like wonderful exemplary men who are without blemish. Ugh...it made me ill to watch the elders go inside that single woman's home and sit there while she was alone. Ugh. Never in a million years would I want that to happen to me.*
*actually, it did happen to me. When I was thirteen years old - two elders muscled their way into my house when I was alone. It pissed me off then and nothing has changed - it still pisses me off.
we once experienced, the "you'll die at armegeddon," fear instilled into us as jw's.. was that worse or better than the fear of eternal torment instilled by more conventional religions?.
john spong gives his view.

You just don't want to be a choir boy (or whatever they called it)
Altar boy.
haha, just thinking of all the "recovering Catholics" I have met in the past 35 years
Me too. My friend calls herself a "lapsed Catholic". She is an accomplished and published author and a few years back she published a book of poetry. Some really incredible poems in it that explore the Catholic experience.
after a number of high profile cases where both children and survivors clearly weren't adequately protected, the charity commission here in the uk launched an investigation into the wbts as a whole here in britain.
the main concerns are around the child safeguarding policies being inadequate.
wbts have fought every step of the way so far.. wbts have been to the high court, who told them to complain to the proper tribunal.. wbts have been to the proper tribunal, who told them that too darn right there were suitable grounds for the charity commission to want to investigate their inability to protect children.. and now the wbts have gone back to the court of appeal to demand that the charity commission inquiry be halted.. i hope the court of appeal tells them that, yes, they too need to have proper safeguarding measures for children and to get on with co-operating with the investigation.. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/charity-commission-defends-its-investigation-into-jehovahs-witness-charity-in-the-court-of-appeal.
Mephis: The only good thing about the taxpayer subsidising them (as they're a charity) is that it does allow their refusal to behave like responsible grown-up to be investigated.
Exactly.
Along with tax-free status comes accountability. The Watch Tower's tax-free status is going to bite them in the ass.
This is such a bad, bad example. It doesn't even make sense.
The "unpaid labourers" of Egypt were conquered slaves. Of Egypt.
How the hell do they get "other sheep" from the conquered slaves of Egypt??
Are the "other sheep" previous enemies?
"...in fetters they will come over"....that must be the line that means that the JWs are the same as the slaves of Egypt.
Stupid stupid "prophetic interpretation". Pfffft. These guys are losing the script.
wt claims their website is the 'most translated' and claims over 750 languages.
but in the drop down language menu there are only about 50. so where are the others?
The Bible is available in 909 languages from here:
