Richard, please, please, read the information at the following link very carefully. If you really want to bring up "risks", it would be a good idea if you knew the facts about those risks.

I just have to say a bit more about that promotional video for bloodless medicine that Fisherman posted.
The "bloodless" industry is dependent upon blood transfusion technology. Without blood transfusions, there would be no "bloodless" medicine.
The doctor in this video emphasizes how much better it is to avoid blood. What he fails to mention is that "sometimes" (a lot of the time, actually...) the alternatives to allogenic blood transfusions that are being developed are riskier than the blood transfusion itself.
Case in point: Hemopure et al
Artificial/synthetic blood is the holy grail of the bloodless industry. Hemopure, along with others like Polyheme, did not get FDA approval. And why was that? Well...if you took Hemopure instead of the standard allogenic blood transfusion, you increased your risk of dying by as much as 30%.
I won't even get into any of the other "alternatives" that are promoted by the bloodless cult and how those alternatives have increased morbidity and mortality in the patients who have used them.
The bloodless industry shamelessly hides that their promotional material is deceptive and they don't reveal the true cost of pursuing ideology in favor of unbiased medical science. Sound familiar?

Skinned and Thrown About.....
by Tech49 inthis is a little long, but stick with me.. if you recall, when the building work was in full swing at the new lakefront villa (warwick), wt was having workers come and they would put them up for a year, or more, while they were providing "volunteer services".
with that, and the impending need for hundreds and hundreds of new khs in the usa territory, the congregations were abuzz with the need for "continued construction volunteers".
recently, as many of you know, wt headquarters has sent pretty much everyone home, and is no longer needing workers at the new warwick site, as the building is mostly complete, with the dedication coming up later this year.

smiddy: " they can flip to Malachi ?" whats that mean?
Lol! I think it means that if you can find the book of Malachi in the Bible (and quickly too!) that you are a Bible expert. A scholar, in fact. Bordering on genius. Better than all those Christians who just go to church to celebrate Christmas.
It is such a marketable skill. Essential, in fact

The first quote out of this doctor's mouth:
"sometimes when a person gets blood it is more dangerous for them than if they didn't get blood"
That is a no brainer. But...then he just goes on to promote 'bloodless' medicine and he says nothing that defines what that "sometimes" means in the larger picture. How many times is "sometimes"? Is sometimes once in a thousand? Once in 10,000? Or is it one in 100,000? Or more? Or is it less? Is it every second time, third...or a million?
Of course there is risk involved in a blood transfusion. However, and this is a big however, blood transfusions are the safest procedure available to the medical profession. The safest. That is a fact. Blood transfusions are the only medical procedure that reaches a six sigma safety rating. That is a fact.
What this doctor fails to say is that every time a person does not get blood when they experience severe blood loss...they die

That's better, Richard.
Yes, there are indications that the appeal will proceed...but that is all they are - indications. We have to wait for that to be an actual fact.
Gotta get those facts straight.

Landy: The way RO has been treated on this thread for simply presenting useful info is pretty shocking
Yes, Landy, Richard has presented useful information.
My issue with Richard's useful information is the way he has presented it.
Richard has stated the WT's position as though the appeal has been granted and will proceed.
That is not accurate. The court has stated that the appeal may proceed but there is a condition to that proceeding, and it is this: "The appealability of the order may be subject to further consideration during the pendency of the appeal."
Richard presents useful information, but it is important to realize that his presentation is almost always biased towards the Watchtower. Yes, on this forum, you will find people who will get their facts wrong and be always looking for the ways to slam the Watchtower.
Sure, Richard gives the forum balance - his views are always slanted to show the Watchtower in the best light. He gives the facts but he doesn't always present them without bias, and he doesn't always give all the facts. He words things in a way such that the reader is led to believe something other than what those facts mean.

RO: I never said that there is going one way or the other.
No, you didn't.
But you did say "And those are legitimate questions, at least the court thinks so..."
That is a misrepresentation. The court has not stated that it thinks "those are legitimate questions".

RO: And those are legitimate questions, at least the court thinks so...
I read the court documents you linked to on another thread, Richard.
According to the docket, the appeal can still be denied. It is not set in stone as you present it.The court actually doesn't think they are legitimate questions - that will only be determined when the appeal proceeds. The court has only agreed to hear an appeal but it was not based on whether the concerns were legitimate (that will be determined when and if the appeal proceeds). The issue that has held it up is whether or not the sanctions can even be appealed. The court has reluctantly agreed to let an appeal proceed but that can still be changed
On August 3, 2016, we sent a letter to counsel asking why this case should not be dismissed as from a nonappealable order as it was unclear from the terms of the sanctions order whether the amount of sanctions exceeded the $5, 000 threshold allowing for a direct appeal pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 904.1, subdivision (a)(12). Appellant's counsel responded, establishing that sanctions pursuant to the order had accrued in the amount of $48, 000 by the time of the filing of the notice of appeal, therefore exceeding the $5, 000 threshold. The appeal may proceed. The appealability of the order may be subject to further consideration during the pendency of the appeal.
Reading the history of the Watchtower's attempts to get an appeal even heard (a sanction under $5000 cannot be appealed), it becomes apparent that the Watchtower could be treading on thin ice.
The words that come to mind are "frivolous appeal". Jus' sayin'

Watchtower and Emoji's - your thoughts
by Tallon inon the jw.org website, the watchtower is sending out a strong warning with regard to emoji's & flirting.. my personal view is that the org is now trying to micro-manage just about every aspect of people's lives!.
https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/teenagers/worksheets/friendly-or-flirtatious/.
ps: 'quotes are from julia, ellen and tara.

These new worksheets telling girls how to use emoji's are a clear example of how the WT's policies are responsible for creating a climate of victimization.
The worksheets, in effect, are part of the "grooming package" that comes along with JW membership. By placing the responsibility for others' reactions on the girls for sending the wrong message, the WT has silenced the victims before they can even speak by telling them that any unwanted attention is their fault. The girls sent the wrong message. The girls behaved wrongly.
For an organization that has to appear in front of the Royal Commission again in March, to explain what they are doing to change their policies in order to better protect victims, these worksheets could be very damaging*.
*the worksheets have been sent to the ARC

I presumed it was the official court record, I got to it through the official Washington Court Website- it's not a newspaper article written by a journalist, it is a court document.
Okay. Public court document.
Focusing on a moot point like 'heaven' is a red herring
Just because the JWs will get their shirt in a knot over a doctrinal point doesn't mean it is important in the context it was presented
