Really.

here is australia the race commissioner has claimed senator o'sullivan is in violation of racially derogatory language.
senator sullivan has said the biggest threat to biosecurity is ' some bloody old chinaman that brings in his favourite sausage down the front of his undies' chin tan said using the word chinaman is offensive.
makes you wonder is englishman or australian man or scotsman is also just as offensive.

Context is everything, LoveUni. You know that.
A non-Chinese person calling a Chinese person "chinaman" is as offensive as calling a black person a nigger.
How does Chinaman remove Chinese people's individuality any more than terms such as the Chinese or Han do?
I probably worded that wrong. I was trying to convey that the term removes their dignity rather than their individuality. Individuality is a foreign concept and best suited to North American cultures.

Barry: Makes you wonder is Englishman or Australian man or Scotsman is also just as offensive
That is not an accurate comparison. Comparable terms would be: Englandman, Scotlandman and Australiaman.
And to make it even more comparable, the Englandman, etc, would have to have been used to build railroads in China. The Englandman and the Scotlandman would have been the ones to get blown up with dynamite instead of the Chinese.
Yes, "Chinaman" is an offensive term. It is a stereotypical term that removes the Chinese people's individuality and designates them as a slave class for the Englandman and the Scotlandman and the Australiaman.
my name is sophie, and i am currently in the class ap research.
the aim of ap research is to have students enter into an academic conversation that exists about a specific topic or issue.
for my research project, i have chosen to evaluate the social stress levels, or sense of belonging, within members of the jehovah’s witnesses community, due to my personal background with the religion.. the following attachment will help me collect data for my research.
I agree with others who have pointed out that a statement like this:
"Because this sect exhibits mental illness 16 times more than the general population..."needs to be backed up. I challenge you to find a credible source for your claim.
And...what does ethnicity have to do with this survey? or even...what does gender have to do with the questions you ask? How do these markers have anything to do with the "data" you are collecting?
And...how can you say that your survey measures what it is that you say you are measuring (levels of stress?) ?
I think your measurement scale needs some work. For this to be classified as "research data", you have to supply proof that this survey does, indeed, measure what you say it does.
Have you taken a research methodology class as part of your curriculum? If you have, I am sorely disappointed in your instructor.
Good luck in your courses.

at least seven of jehovah’s witnesses were subjected to torture—electric shocks, suffocation, and cruel beatings—on the first floor of the russian investigative committee’s building at ul.
ostrovskogo, d. 47, in surgut.
This is so sad.
Those poor Russian JWs think they are being loyal to God but all they are doing is being loyal to a man made organization.
So sad. What a waste.

it makes me wonder how many jw kids might be from fathers they do not really know as their true dads.
I think the OP is comparing apples to oranges. The situation with the RC concerns priests who have committed to celibacy. Not the same as the JW org.
Of course there will be unwanted pregnancies and subsequent adoptions within the JWs but to compare that to a religion that demands celibacy from their priests is a stretch.

Careful: Wouldn't there be some cases where this was all kept hush-hush? Surely there must be some...
The JWs have their share of unwed mothers. Whether the unwanted pregnancy is the result of a wayward elder or simply the result of normal teenage hormones is likely not part of record.
However, there was a known "baby broker" who had arranged adoptions (some of them illegal) for many families and this likely includes some JWs. Look up Gerald Garner. A lawyer who had ties to Ron Lapin and who also was very involved with a California hospital that was owned by JWs.

apparently the jws were still using russell’s pyramid measurements to push the end for 1925 too.
here is the film anyone know it they used pyramidolgy to push the other previous dates like 1918?

according to the resolution of the data protection agency, the information was used for other purposes than those authorized.. the data protection agency has imposed a fine of 10,000 euros to jehovah's witnesses for collecting data from doctors and patients without prior authorization.. the religious institution has a hospital liaison committee (ceh) in each province that visits the hospitals to find out the degree of collaboration of the medical staff according to the beliefs of the jehovah's witnesses, "which is only realization of surgeries without transfusions ", is included in the resolution of the agency to which medical drafting has had access.. when compiling these data, as demonstrated by the resolution, the members of the committees overreached their duties, gathering information without requesting the relevant permission stipulated by law.
the jehovah's witnesses have filed an appeal after the ruling but it has not been accepted.. without consent.
in the document, the existence of data that have been "stored and conserved, and imply the processing of data without consent that is imputed, estimating that they are part of a file, are related as rights basics".
smiddy: I just wonder if this could apply in other countries and if penalties would apply there also ?
That is a good question.
The WT/org has been collecting data on medical professionals for decades. Their medical "ministry" is very active - they retain comments, notes, and other details on all the doctors that they "call on". Just like the house to house ministry except what they are recording are doctors' views on blood transfusions.
I would think that this violates more than just Spain's laws on data collection and retention. If more countries came down on this activity, it would sure put a monkey wrench in the WT/org's "special ministry" directed at medical professionals. Blood proselytizing would be curtailed. As it should be.
in an attempt to disparage a faded jw and to obtain their personal details, he deceptively partially quoted a statement from the jw.borg web site to the new york judge when he wrote, .
"disfellowshipping does not cause family relationships to be permanently lost: "the religious ties he had with his family change, but blood ties remain.
the marriage relationship and normal family affections and dealings continue.
Stephane: Word games, word games, word games! By family, he meant, those living under the same roof...
Yes, word games indeed. And he forgot to mention all those young people who have been kicked out of their "same roof" once they were df. So many don't get the privledge of living at home once they "stumble".
And, he failed to bring up that if a JW is found to be talking to, eating with, or generally "associating with" a df one, that they too will be disfellowshipped.
