Dark knight757, I think the special part is what we are supposed to avoid. It sort of takes away from the BORG part . As a parent I think one of the most important days is the birth of a baby. That should be celebrated. And why are wedding anniversaries ok? 😒 -

True Darkknight757! What gets me is the fanatical obsession with baby showers. Those are ok, apparently. Had a family member mention at a recent baby shower that it would sure be nice if they had showers for the child later on to get things that the kid would need. I mentioned that they do. They're called birthday parties. Got stunned silence and angry stares. Oops! -

I am an inactive awake "witness" who recently had a birthday. Most of my family is in. My hubby is awake, with no family in. I have an excellent relationship with his parents, and they have respected the no birthday rule through our whole marriage. Over the last few years as I have woken up, hubby and I have told his parents that I see how ridiculous the whole no birthday thing is. They asked hubby over and over if sending me a birthday card would offend me. (They live many states away from us.) Hubby assured them it would not offend me. I received a lovely birthday card from them in the mail. They both wrote lovely things about how they felt about me. It was my first birthday card, and I am well over 40! Their questions about offending me got me to thinking: what about birth and welcoming a new life and another year is offensive? Why would a lovely birthday card be offensive to over 8 million people? Kinda puts it in perspective for me. So I was wondering, what is it about birthdays that upsets the GB so much? Or do they really think birthdays are bad? -

This forum and others are therapy. And once they serve their purpose and help ex dubs to heal, many move on with their lives and can be successful and happy. Others who have healed continue to post and are therapeutic for others who need advice and healing. I appreciate both because I need the help from those who continue posting, and I need the proof of healing from those who have moved on. My thanks to all of you. I can't imagine what it was like for awake dubs before the internet. Must have been very lonely. -

June 2016 WT (study edition) Bashing Higher Education....AGAIN!
by ToesUp inparagraph 14: .

There is a brother in our hall who's pushing 80 years old and still doing hard labor because in his 40's he was told no need for retirement because "the end is coming soon." He can't survive on Social Security alone. -

No need for high income earners in WT. Just get all the kids to send in their ice cream money, and all the adults to learn the construction trade, and voila! Good way to support a real estate company. -

The Bread Illustration (Feb 16 Broadcast) - Massive Contradiction
by fizzle inso... bro flodin puts poison onto the first loaf of bread and says that this pictures someone "sinning against the holy spirit".
he then puts the bread into the trash can stating that jehovah completely discards anyone "sinning against the holy spirit"... meaning they cannot ever be forgiven...he says that the pharisees "sinned against the holy spirit" because they denied indisputable evidence of the operation of jehovah's holy spirit displayed by jesus... therefore jehovah would completely discard them... no way back for them.. fast forward a little... we have the bible character stephen...acts 6:8 says: now stephen, full of divine favor and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.so stephen was showing indisputable evidence of the operation of jehovah's holy spirit.now we come to the bible character paul (saul)... he was a pharisee.paul would have seen stephen in action... witnessing the indisputable evidence of the operation of jehovah's holy spirit first hand!yet paul not only waged war against all christians but he personally approved the killing (stoning) of stephen.according to the bread illustration paul should have been discarded by jehovah at this point for "sinning against the holy spirit"... he would have been put in the trash can... no way back at all...but what happened according to the bible?
jesus appeared to him on the road to damascus... he became one of the most zealous apostles in bible history with jehovah's full support!so what on earth is the bread illustration all about?
