for those of you who used to be jws, or who are active, if the society was in charge of the earth, how many people do you think you would have seen stoned during your lifetimes?
i realize some elders can be zealous about their work, but if they'd actually had administrative authority to have kh members stoned to death, how many elders did you know who would have been zealous enough to really order them?.
did you know any elders who would have ordered stonings, even if the condemned people had been willing to repent?.
My apologies dear Angharad. You're right (and my comment wasn't with regard to JWN in general, but a certain few who have changed the feel of the place just a tad). I have taken some pretty nasty hits lately... and a recent one was just over the top for me... and, well, I wasn't quite over it given the level of accusations (I'm human, sorry). Probably shouldn't have posted... but thought folks might want to know what it feels like to not only have to concern themselves about such from the WTBTS. Such hatred isn't limited to practicing JWs.
My apologies, though, to you, the board, the OP, and readers if I offended. We all need to vent, though, sometimes... and from a personal level. This may have been the wrong thread... but it felt "right" to me, given the topic.
Not much hurts me, but that last one... actually scared me (although not for myself).
Just SA, this time...

Vehemently, yes, dear CS (peace to you!). Especially two who sat on my man JC committees (one STILL literally grinds his teeth when he sees me... which is absolutely hilarious because he's a "former" homosexual)... and various "pioneer sisters." I can handle it, though, as once I came to understand who they truly were I knew what was coming (it started when I partook and heightened when my visit with Carey Barber came to light on the heels of something I wrote to the GB showing up in the October 15, 1995 Watchtower.
I have to say, though, that what I experienced in the WTBTS... is NOTHING compared to what I have experienced here over the past 2 or so years. Not even... and I still go in among them. My feeling? While the WTBTS folks might throw rocks, some here would, if they could get away with it... not only throw rocks, but decapitate you, then drag your carcass behind a horse through the town. You know, to make sure you're FULLY dead... as well as give a warning to anyone else who might make certain claims that they can't receive.
Don't be fooled, dear one: that same "stone 'em" mentally now exists right here on good ol' JWN. Never did before. But post that you can hear the voice of the Fine Shepherd (John 10:3, 4, 16, 27; Hebrews 12:25)... and then wait for the pelting. I assure you... it will come, and quickly.
Indeed: 10... 9... 8...
Again, peace to you...

the following comment taken from the march 1st 2013 watchtower, is nothing new.
to witnesses the world over it's a basic teaching which even the kids understand; "humans with heavenly prospects have been baptized in water and with holy spirit and are thus spirit-begotten disciples of jesus.
" (john 3:3, 5) (both at the same time??????).
Absolutely NO worries, dear Jeffro (again, peace to you!). What I post is often misunderstood, so I take no offense here. I only ask that folks READ what I post... without the "earphones and "filters" of their strongly entrenched paradigms and/or preconceived notions about what I am "saying." Benefit of the doubt, that's all I ask for.
Again, peace to you!

Sounds like you ( [ ju:]) don't understand the International Phonetic Alphabet. The phoneme /j/ is a Y sound.
I totally do understand, dear Jeffro (again, peace to you!)... and agree. Which is why my Lord's name, although spelled "Jah Eshua"... is pronounced "Yah eShua." So, for example, I would not pronounce the English name "Joshua" with the hard "j"... but with the "y" sound: "Yahshua". Same with, say, "Joel" - the correct pronunciation is "Yah'El." Meaning "Jah is God." Or, say, "Elijah"... which would be "Eli'Yah" (meaning, "My God is Jah"). Or, say, "Abijah". The correct pronunciation is "Abi'Yah"... which means "My father is Jah." Or... and I learned this from an Armenian gentleman: Noah. The correct pronunciation is "No'Yah"... which the Armenian accent causes them to pronounce as "Noy'Yah."
Lord's name has another syllable, though, which is "eh"; unfortunately, ancient Hebrew had no vowels so that syllable erroneously got dropped. But please know, that while I SPELL my Lord's name "JAHESHUA"... I am SAYING "YAHESHUA". With the "y" sound... and the "eh" so fast... that it ALMOST sounds like "Yahshua". But not quite. Sounded out, it's sounds like "Yoshshua."
Another example is the name of the MOST Holy One of Israel, JAH of Armies. Spelled "JaHVeH". Some spell it "YaHWeH," but that's incorrect. "JaHWeH"... would be better, but it's still inaccurate. The "wah" is not a "w" but a "v"... and pronounced as a hard "v"... and not was a "w" (think, "Manischewitz"). Thus, His name, while spelled "JaH-VeH"... it is pronounced "YAH-veh." Because of the same thing: the Yod (yodh) is not a "y" but a "/j/".
Even so, my comment wasn't about the pronunciation, dear one, but the spelling.
God's son is commonly called Jesus.
And here, you are commonly called "EP"... or "Entirely Possible", etc. Which is okay, by those who know OF you, based on their participation here. Is that your name, though? I am SURE that those who actually KNOW you call you something entirely different. That does not mean you're going to let those HERE know your real name, though... right? Because, while we may know OF you, including a few "details"... we don't really KNOW you. Right?
You are saying the person you worship doesn't exist?
The person I worship absolutely exists (neither His name nor His Son's is "Jesus," though); the person YOU say is the son of God... does not.
Nice try, both, though...

This is probably the core of the fallacy.
The receipt of holy spirit is not a fallacy, dear Jeffro (peace to you!), but that everyone received it when they were baptized in water is. I posted verses that show this was not the case. It certainly isn't the case today. Indeed, it's not even the case when one partakes of the bread and wine. These two things, water baptism and partaking are separate issues altogether from the anointing, which is an additional event, and they all mean different things.
Misunderstanding THIS truth MIGHT be at the core of the fallacy; however, I think the real "core" is false teachings by those who have never received the holy spirit... but say they have... trying to convince others (and often succeeding) that it is only available to one "class" of people, or to certain "special" (pious) people... or not at all (doesn't even exist). Which the first two do in order to "mislead if possible, even the chosen ones," and the third probably doesn't even know they're doing it ("know not what they do").
Again, peace to you!

Jesus answers peoples questions all the time.
What "Jesus"? How can someone who doesn't exist answer ANYONE? And according to YOU, Jesus doesn't exist. I agree. How then, can you take issue with ME, if I agree with YOU?
This silly idea of "you have to use the exact name I do" discounts millenia of bloody history that gets you to your Jesus by another name today.
Actually, is doesn't. I have no "Jesus"... by ANY name. Because, again, "Jesus" doesn't exist. And no one has to use the exact name that I do - many use "Yeshua," "Yehoshua", "Y'Shua." Same thing, except I add that he is the Chosen One of JAH (MischaJah), so English "messiah" is good, too. I mean, if we're trying to be exact in ENGLISH, it would be "Joshua, the Christ of JAH." The following might help, although the parts about "Jesus" being the English rendering of the Greek "Iesous" and that being from the Hebrew "Jeshua" is inaccurate. But it's a start... and at least more folks seem to be looking into the matter:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeshua_(name)
Notice the statement regarding the Hebrew Yod (yodh)... being a /j/, though... and not a /y/, as man think. Hence, "Yah" is incorrect.
But you don't have to take MY word ANY of it, though. You can ask "Jesus," too. If he doesn't respond, though, considering asking the One whom some call "Yeshua," "Yehoshua," or "Y'Shua"... or, if you dare... the HOLY One of Israel, JAHESHUA, the Chosen One of JAH (MischaJah). I cannot promise as to any others, but I can promise you that the latter will answer you. Sooner or later... depending on whether you really WANT to know.
Oh, and he that I should share with you that all of that "blood" is the hands of man who put their faith in a false god, one that doesn't exist... and not on his. You know, so that you don't continue to bear false witness against HIM... your brother.

i thought this was really interesting and wanted to share.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/oh-my-god_particle.
the oh-my-god particle was an ultra-high-energy cosmic ray (most likely a proton) detected on the evening of 15 october 1991 over dugway proving ground, utah.
its observation was a shock to astrophysicists, who estimated its energy to be approximately 31020 ev (50 j)[1]in other words, a subatomic particle with kinetic energy equal to that of a 5-ounce (142 g) baseball traveling at about 100 kilometers per hour (60 mph).. the particle was traveling very close to the speed of light - assuming the particle was a proton, its speed was only about 1.5 femtometers (quadrillionths of a meter) per second less than the speed of light, translating to a speed of approximately 0.9999999999999999999999951c.
(To one in particular) Non-sensical and pointless to one who perhaps did not in fact "get" it. No way to know, though, as my operating says that particular "file"... "no longer exists."
