  there was a distressing thread concerning this topic recently.

  there is no way i can believe these stories as literal truth or even use them as any signpost to the nt jesus/god.

  Goodness, the paranoia in this place sometimes. Sometimes one isn't even THINKING of a particular person at ALL, but simply responding to QUESTION. Here, the question was "Why not?". It was posed due to the statement that:

  Equality really isn't a big concern in the OT Laws

  I SIMPLY commented... briefly, concisely, and truthfully, that:

  Equality is not even a right... or necessarily good... thing in our human societies.

  It is CERTAINLY not a right in many of our human societies... nor is a necessarily GOOD. Because SOME are withheld for the BETTER good. Now, what those ARE... don't necessarily have to do with male/female... nor did I ever say they DID. Some, however, seem to overlook the facts that there ARE areas of inequality and discrimination in our societies that PROTECT. For instance, underage drinking, overage driving, felons not being able to possess firearms, things allowed in one region not being allowed in another...

  Goodness, some really need to consider what the paranoia is all about. No one here is out to "get" you. Perhaps, though, it your crusade against others that make you think someone MIGHT be. I mean, perhaps you think, "Well, if I'm on a mission to snuff someone else out, then I know such missions can happen... and so maybe someone's on one against me."

  You're wrong. At least as to me. I would have to care... and I truly... truly... TRULY... do not.

I'm sorry I put you on the spot (well, not really, but I'm supposed to be "nice," right... and so it sounded like a "nice" thing to say.   Don't be surprised, dear Inkie (the greatest of love and peace to you, dear on!): some can only speak as to what... and Who... they know. For some, that means earthling man and what he says. Just because one professes to be a "christian" doesn't make one so. Sometimes, they are only a product of and just like what their own minds... and hearts... allow them to be: worshippers of the image of a dead man (often on a cross)... who has eyes but cannot see... ears but cannot hear... feet but cannot walk... and a mouth... but cannot speak... rather than worshippers of the Image of God... who is alive... and so sees... hears... walks... and speaks!

  To his own master... whether a dead man... or a living being... each one will stand... or fall.

  Given the divisions among the disciples while my Lord was literally in their midst, where, may I ask, do you get the premise of "Christian unity," dear designs (peace to you!)? Republicans are "united," as are Democrats. Even scientists disagree on matters. What "unites" the Body of Christ? Agreement on understanding? If that was the case, why would Priscilla and Aquila need to expound the way of God more accurately to Apollos, a man aglow with the (holy) spirit?

  I will tell you what unites christians: love. The "perfect bond of union." Not the FORM of love that some profess to have "among themselves" (yet, by their treatment and conduct of one another, say, letting one another die for the lack of blood or other medical attention, or judging one another as to things like apostasy or repentance, or literally shunning one another and forcing others to do so... or teaching ones to hide from their own flesh... or seeing one of their own hungry and closing the door of their tender compassions upon such one... or seeing them homeless and not offering shelter... etc., etc., etc.)... but the form of love that is shown toward even one who shows himself/herself to be an enemy and so is "perfect" (Matthew 5:43-48).

  Few even in the world have that kind of love. Because even theirs only goes as far as the "gate" of an enemy.
