If You've Faded, Do You Still Consider Yourself a Dub?

if writing them a letter gets you peace of mind.. then go ahead and do it! Just do it for you! Not them!

The elders never bothered to call when I stopped attending.. i got sick with pneumonia and missed a couple of months.. then after that I had problems with my 'then husband' and they didn't want us to split up because I didn't have grounds.. so rather than be hypocrital and pretend we were a happy couple at the KH like they wanted us to, I stopped attending.. Eventually divorced him any way because I couldn't live with the man and never went back to the hall again. No one has ever bothered to check on me and see why I stopped going.

When "friends" let you down...

have you ever been in a position where you really needed your friends - ie a relationship break down, or some other event and expected your friends to rally and support you.

only to find that those friends are nowhere to be seen or heard and when you tentatively enquire how they are in the hope for some kind response you get - "oh well you'll get over it.

" or words to that effect and by email.. i have as you can guess a reason and recent experience of my own that i'll share later, but i wondered how do you handle that?

well even my closest friends have let me down at times when I thought they would be there for me. I guess, sadly, I've learned to lower my expectations and realize that if i am going to get through something, the only person I can count on to get me through it is me..

Don't get me wrong, I will still hope they are there for me... but... at least my expecations aren't so high...

I'm sorry about your situation with your breakup Crumpet.. after 9 yrs that has to be tough..

as many of you know, audesapere (denise) had reconstructive knee surgery last wednesday.

the surgery ended up being quite a bit more involved then she originally anticipated.

she has approximately 5 more weeks walking with crutches and then i believe she will continue with physical therapy.. denise made it through the first several days post-op like a trooper!

What is your take on birthdays?

hi i am still yet to introduce myself, but i will soon i promise!!

i am a very open minded jw and currently have not been happy with their techings on alot of subjects.

one issue i have is birthdays, i do not agree with their techings on this subject, i never have.

You are smart to analyze the things you do not agree with.

I have to say I miss that I never had birthdays. I don't agree with why we didn't celebrate either, but who was to question.

something came to me whilst i was cleaning this morning.

i was thinking about the jw tradition of disfellowshipping those who seek a 'worldly divorce' .

Its when they think you don't have 'scriptural grounds' for a divorce.... so if you try to remarry they df you for adultry since they felt you had no right to divorce in the first place..

which is one of the reasons I left them...

do you miss your sense of belonging?what i miss is the sense of belonging and camaraderie that came with .

being one of jehovahs witnesses.

does this mean that i would return?

The thing is, all that sense of belonging was based on unreality. We had no foundation and when we lost our brainwashing mindset, see how not belonging we really were..
