some light relief!.
even now, i can vividly recall buying my very first 45 rpm single in 1967.. i was only just 15 years old.
i worked as a 'paper boy', delivering newspapers to people living nearby.
Santana Abraxas. Later, my older brother told me that I had to throw out the cover because it had a 'naked' woman on it.
Adiva
LOL the same reason my mom gave me, but I was allow to keep the record(which I still have). The first 45 I remember buying was "Standing in the Shadow of Love " by the Four Tops. I paid 35 cent for it out of my weekly allowance.
what is the source of this photo?.
was this printed in a wts's publication?.
although i know this photo well, i'd like to have persuasiveness when i explain to other people.. .

i woke up today a right grumpy basket case.... not a good day for the jehovah's witness to call on me to do there usual shepherding call, bringing me the usual mags of shite!
i stood there on the doorstep in my pj's, care free and all fired up.
i was asked how i was doing & then informed that they had my latest mags.
Congrats and onto the road of freedom of decision,choice,etc... !!!

i recently enlisted in the army as active duty, havnt left yet, and am wondering if it is concientiously okay to do this as a christian?
keep in mind there is a good chance i will see combat.
i have already made my decision but am interested to hear others views.
I was DAed for going into the Military. I nevered submitted a letter, but a anouncement was made just before I entered the service.
for those interested in collecting the pdfs of the kingdom ministry for research purposes.. as is well known, the watchtower library cd-rom starts its coverage of kms in 1970. however, the kms from 1966 to 1969 show a bit more of the excitement relating to the prediction that 6,000 years of man's existence would run out in the year 1975.. the 1969 kingdom ministry (51 mb) can be downloaded here:.

while it is true that the "proclaimers" book is not always as open and honest about the society's history as it claims to be, it is open and honest enough to bring into question the society claim to being god's organization.
it's a matter of (1) knowing what to look for, (2) where to find it and then, (3) to be able get the sense of what it means.. take for example the extremely important matter of the second coming of christ.... on the top of page 47 the book truthfully explains how president charles russell came to believe that jesus returned invisibly in 1874 to begin his second coming ("invisible presence").
and then a careful reading of the footnote on page 133 shows that the date of jesus' return was not changed to 1914 until 1943.. it is likely that even if some witnesses notice that fact, they do not get the sense of what it means.
I stand corrected... thanks Leolaia

I found a statement similar to what TD found concerning 1914 in the book "Delievrance" (1926) page 306 as follows;
For many centuries Satan the enemy, as head, aided
and abetted by his wicked angels, has constituted the
heavens that have influcnccd and controlled the nations
and peoples of earth. With the coming of Christ
Jesus into power in 1914 Satan and his demon hosts
have been cast out of heaven and onto the earth. (Ps.
110 : 6; Rev. 12 : 9) The new heaven is therefore now
an established fact. Christ is in control thereof.
