Do you think "Blondie" is addicted to reading Watchtowers and Awakes?
by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

Welllllllll what do you have to say now bookerT? Anyway keep up the good work Blondie! Great source of information I have received from your comments. My Parents are still in the Borg (50+ years) and when they call me (rarely) and make their comments on the Borg, I am always a few steps ahead of them which causes them to discontinue any further conversations on the Borg's teachings. Unfortunately their wish has always been for me to return to "da Truth".

'Lamp' book by Ray Franz???
by AgentSmith inmy father, (still an elder) has suprised me last week with a simple text message.
"we (my mother & father) will be in your city this weekend, please come and have supper with us".
i was delaying my reply, thinking of what to say, when he phoned.

The Lamp book that I remember from the 60's was a yellow book, thin but a little taller than most of their books. It was the book with the 80 questions you went through before baptism. It was basically an early version of the 'organization' book. I am pretty sure it did not address any dates as described in the original post. dropoffyourkeylee
I agree. I had to study the 80 or so question before my baptism in July 1972 from the "Lamp" book. At that assembly the "Organization" book was released. I recall no information about "1975" being recorded in the "Lamp" book.

Martial Arts?
by Godsendconspirator ini have always had a love for martial arts (didn't know how to fight, just admire what the human body can do), but since jdub-land banned it, i just kinda forgot about it.
i admire nate quarry (an 'apostate' mma fighter) and i have been boxing for a year now.
i decided to switch over to muay thai.

When I was younger I would sneak to Karate classes at the local community center(taught for free), because as a JW we couldn't participate in any Martial Arts. In the couse of my life I have studied Hapkido,Tae Kwon Do,and Fu Jow Pai / Tiger Claw Kung Fu. Now in my mid 50's ,I'm studying Tai Chi and love it!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I attended the Bartow congregation (Gun Hill Road, BX) in the early 80's.

Born ins..Were You Forced to Be a JW Growing Up?
by LostGeneration inmyth: parents who are jehovahs witnesses.
force their children to follow their faith.. fact:witness parents strive to inculcate love.
for god in their offspring, just as the bible.

This is the WTS admitting in a roundabout way that they are losing many of their "born-ins". What they don't bother to say is that by the time the children become adults, they have already been baptized and are officially a member of the organization. Choosing to leave as an adult isn't as simple as "making a personal choice with regard to worship". Now they have to weigh the considerations of losing family, home, job, support; because this is what will happen if they choose some other avenue of worship
So true Undercover , I was 8 years old when my parents converted as JW, and the constant indoctrination, guilt trips, etc, I was baptized as soon as I turned 14. So by the time I became a adult , I couldn't take back the baptism. Up to this day there has been no normal relationship between my parents and I.

WT: "Disfellowshipped teenagers = Nadab and Abihu"
by cedars incontinuing on my objective sojourn through the latest watchtower study editions, i thought i would write a few words about the article "god's rest - have you entered into it?
" taken from the july 15th watchtower.
incidentally, this watchtower is the same one that i discussed on my previous post concerning the society's latest bout of apostate-bashing.

That's what is great about this site, I get to understand when my parents go on a rollercoaster ride of emotions when dealing with their DF/DA children.
