Death Of Print Update
by metatron inhttp://gawker.com/new-york-magazine-begins-to-give-up-on-print-1474820408.
little by little....... print media is dying.
i understand the head of buzzfeed asserted that 'there are no new newspaper subscribers being born', statistically speaking.. metatron.

Being a long time book collector(mostly historical) I see the art is not dying. I went to the last Tampa book fair ( March 2013) , and the place was packed. I love the feel of the books, new or old, in my hand. I think my avatar gives me away. LOL

ancient confession found: 'we invented jesus christ'biblical scholars will be appearing at the 'covert messiah' conference at conway hall in london on the 19th of october to present this controversial discovery to the british public.
london (prweb uk) 8 october 2013. american biblical scholar joseph atwill will be appearing before the british public for the first time in london on the 19th of october to present a controversial new discovery: ancient confessions recently uncovered now prove, according to atwill, that the new testament was written by first-century roman aristocrats and that they fabricated the entire story of jesus christ.

Does Anyone Remember the "Around The World Assemblies"?
by titch inso, being that it is 2013, i recall that it was 50 years ago, that the "around the world assemblies" were held.
for those of us who lived in southern california, the first week of september was when we had the assembly, and it was held at the rose bowl in pasadena.
yep, the rose bowl, with no seats, per se, but just those hard benches as seats.

I can remember the 1969 International Convention in NYC. My father was baptized at that assembly and I followed a few years later. Anyway I have a copy of the "Report on the Everlasting Good News Assembly of JWs Around the World June 30 - September 8, 1963" , which my Grandparents attended in NYC. For Pasadena CA it stated : 118,447 Attendance , 81,082 adopted Resolution, 2,496 baptized, and 43 lands represented.

My Jimi Hendrix experience
by confusedandalone inas a 13 year old a friend of mine had a jimi hendrix record and told me if we play it backwards that they said words.
he bought the record from a shop not far from where we lived and we were the only family that still had a record player.
so we played the record and i spun it backwards andnothing happened.

My mom was worried but she didn't go nuts. She threw away the cover to "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones" by the Monkees, but not the vinyl. LOL.
My mom got rid of the cover of my Santana's "Black Magic Woman" album , but let me keep the vinyl. Just after my dad got baptized all my sports cards, Batman/ Green Hornet cards and comics, GI Joes (12") ,etc was all tossed out. Today I see most of these items command a nice premium. I guess they didn't have the foresight I had. lol

Last night the one cool elder calls me
by confusedandalone ini figured he was going to arrange the committee and try to get me kicked out after the whole "big pile of books" labelled "take this shit".. well his call made me realize that more and more people ... elders included no longer take this religion seriously.
after he told me he heard what happened he actually laughed and said i would never expect that.
he then told me that it is apparent that i no longer want to be connected to the organization.

I think I'd be inclined to go hard core with you father, mother and brother. Have your attorney send a letter to them threatening a law suite if they continue to slander you to past friends........ copy to the Elders.
Then again why not let things be what they be. Slandering, to who?? Other J-dubs? If it doesn't affect your immediate family or business, who cares! Unless your attorney is doing this request for free, why pursue it? I feel IMHO that you're handling this situation quite well. I'd experienced a similar situation with my parents, and once I made it clear to them that they would not put me on any more guilt trips about returning to the Borg, and yet ask me for money when times were tough for them, you either respect my decision or leave me alone. They're my parents and I love them ,but I'll be damn to be treated in such a way!
