if your very serious about a girl and youve been going out for over a year, but she is waiting on you to get baptized before marriage.
its too hard to leave.
but there are questions i have that i dont even think there are answers too.

"Garsh"
lets take a quick look:
amendment i: congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances..
just see how the alcu acts when even the mere mention of god is made in school, or the picture of the ten commandment in the courtroom.
Being slowly butchered? Yep.
The word "Nazi" in English, comes from the German spelling of the word "National". And yet, "Nazi" is such a "dirty" word in America. How about "Patriot"? "Terrorist"? Those words mean different things depending on your perspective. You could say, from a colonial period English perspective, that George Washington was a "Terrorist". As Americans, we would call him--then and now--a "Patriot".
We all here in various ways escaped and survived a religious cult, but I think Americans are living in a Political Cult. History is revised, or shown in "New Light", and the "Rank & File" are pacified--controlled. If the change is affected slowly, over time, most people won't notice it. Many Americans now are so scared of the new Boogey Man--he wears a turban and is NOT Christian--that they will gladly allow the simple freedoms in life to be removed, to keep them "safe".
...We live in interesting times...
oh my god!
a sudden wave of recollection swept over me as i watched home movies today - remeber pep rallies?
the gatherings to encourage school spirit for sporting events, etc?.
I just hated pep rallies and assemblies anyway. At my school, lots of people didn't care about the rallies, and would try and sneak home--these fools would get caught by patrolling teachers and escorted personally to the assembly--snicker. I had an elevator and storage access key, so me and my non JW friends who were trying to skip out, just went to the upper library storage area and played cards and hung out. Then, when it was all over, we went home. This was just because we felt that mobs were stupid.
As for the JWs thinking that they were evil, well that is stupid of them, but so typical of fundy cults.
I'll admit that I am somewhat "anti-social".
i was recently disfellowshipped for being involved in a relationship with another female.
its been hard for me especially since my family no longer has association with me.
i love my lady so much and i miss my family so much.
I am sorry that you're in pain. You will get throught this. I did, by realizing, that it is first up to ME to love and take care of ME. My family is now all out, and so are my closest friends. The fact that I'm gay, now is more a source of fun for us all, than a source of anxiety for just me.
I don't really say too much here, but I give good Bear Hugs.
A friend of my mom's loaned me her husband's copy of this book. I sorta knew ahead of time what I was getting into reading this, but it was worse than I imagined. Very much "We are the Borg, accept Christ as WE define him, resistance is futile, you will be destroyed..." Yuck!
Then, because I hadn't quite "learned my lesson" I went to a seemingly innoscent pancake breakfast with the same guy. They passed out this book, I think it was called "Wild at Heart" or something similiar. IT is about "Re-claiming" masculinity-of course, with a "Christian twist". OMG! This was even more brain-sick.
True Religion is a Snare and a Racket.
i saw another bush '04 bumper sticker today and it got me thinking about bumper stickers!!!.
you know that jws go door-to-door but how many people do they really reach?
we drive tons of cars and could reach people every day with a simple message and a link to a website like this.
I like this idea.
if your very serious about a girl and youve been going out for over a year, but she is waiting on you to get baptized before marriage.
its too hard to leave.
but there are questions i have that i dont even think there are answers too.
I find that the more pressure is being put on me to "comply", the stronger my resistance gets, unless I decide that doing what is desired of me, is not harmful or long term detrimental for me. Otherwise, never give up.
Relationship wise, this is one of the first things that will set off my alarms. I don't take kindly to people trying to mold me to make me better or more acceptable for them.
Ofcourse, I'm still single, and a freak, so I could be wrong.
thank goodness, a judge with some sense!.
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2005/01/13/national1134est0530.dtl.
here's a quote:but the judge disagreed: "while evolution is subject to criticism, particularly with respect to the mechanism by which it occurred, the sticker misleads students regarding the significance and value of evolution in the scientific community.
I liked what the judge wrote in his ruling:
"While evolution is subject to criticism, particularly with respect to the mechanism by which it occurred, the sticker misleads students regarding the significance and value of evolution in the scientific community."
I'm still not sure how to write this so it sounds good, but I was thinking along this line...
"Whileevolutionreligion is subject to criticism, particularly with respect tothe mechanism by which it occurredhow it affects our lives, the sticker misleads students regarding the significance and value ofevolutionreligion in thescientificcommunity."
I thought it was a little scary that the state of Alabama has its own science text books...
Officials in Alabama said they do not think Thursday's ruling affects the several-paragraph evolution disclaimer in the front of that state's science books.
The disclaimer says that "any statement about life's origins should be considered theory, not fact," and lists four of the "many unanswered questions about the origin of life which are not mentioned in your textbook." One of the questions is, "How did you and all living things come to possess such a complete and complex set of 'Instructions' for building a living body?"
So, does this include "religious" theories too?
"any statement about life's origins should be considered theory, not fact,"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On the other hand, it irks me when scientists take their theories so serious they forget that they are just descriptions, using human words, of how they think things are or work out. No matter how a thing is defined or described, it still it, in its own right. I think that to say that theories ARE facts, is a bit too absolutist, maybe even arrogant. EVERYTHING should be questioned, especially our own thoughts.
yoga?just an exercise or something more?
can yoga be practiced without any religious overtones?
is yoga suitable for christians?
This would make an awesome bumper sticker:
The smaller the god, the greater the evils.
I know of JW's and Freaky Fundy Baptists who won't do yoga, even though a physician said it would help with chronic fatigue and body pain. Just stupid.
I've wanted to do Tai Chi for a while, but can't afford it yet. I'm afraid to do yoga, the only demonz in the room would be emanating from my back side. I think my colon is possesed by demons of IB and anerobic cultures.
i have learned that a family member has been studying with the jws for many months now.
this is so incredibly alarming for me.
i won't get into how this could cause a tremendous "ripple effect" in my life.
I think it is good that you are dealing with this proactively. I'm here, but I am not a clear comunicator when it comes to gettign an important point accross. I'd be willing to meet them in a group setting with others.
Good luck.
