The movie was great. It was not done cheesy or fake, or excessivly sexual. I'd have no qualm about taking my mom or sisters.
Latter Days is another good gay film, a little cheesy, but kinda cute.
On another note, does anyone want to go camping?
brokeback mountain ang lee.. oh man, i am so excited about this movie.
i've read the short story by annie proulx.
it is excellent.. and they aren't dying of aids or dressed up in drag, that is so mmi.

i have been a jw all my life, my sister and i are now in our late twenties and are so unhappy and after desparate attempts to keep up meeting attendance are not spiritually motivated.
we in last few weeks have found some very disturbing things in our search such as the un involvement.
after research on these things and use of the wt library the society speaks for it's self on these issues calling the un the "disgusting thing" that the book of daniel spoke about(wt 85' para.
The belief that the creator of the universe needs a human orgainization, is almost cute in a way. It stops being cute when it gets violent.
i don't know, you'd think we'd be used to reading crap like this but it still gets my goat.. nic' .
*** w74 8/15 p. 487 is change possible for homosexuals?
thinking transformed.
My youngest son, who is 2, is really attracted to men. I watched him on Thanksgiving when he would let the men in the house pick him up (and I think he was on the verge of kissing one of them and I have seen him act this way before) and I watched my mil watching my son, who would not let her pick him up or even touch him. And I could see the wheels turning in my mil's head. I thought to myself "What if one of my kids is gay?" How will I protected him or her? I couldn't love them any less and would never ever disown them if they came out to me. And I would never ever try to change them.Josie
This reminds me of me around this age. My uncle was a colledge football player and would come home for the summer and work on my grandparents' farm. One or more of his friends would stay sometimes to help with jobs. Good memmories.

i'm the aunty of 3 the boys i wrote about a few weeks ago who had lost their jw father to suicide.
my (16 year old) nephew has come to live with me and he has been brought up as a jw all of his life, although not baptised yet.
he hasn't made one mention of them or meetings at all since his father's death, ( 4 weeks ago) other than to tell me he was very disappointed in the lack of support shown his dad by the elders of his congregation during his lowest moments of depression and to the boys since.
Log out and leave the JWD home page up on your pc...
I like this idea, but I also think that if he should ask, you should be gentle yet bluntly honest. If he initiated a conversaton, you might be able to go over some of the simple facts about the WT, but in such a way that he can reason it out on his own.
although i am not a catholic i found this movie to be the most powerful and uplifting thing i have ever watched.
for those of you who watched it, how did it make you feel?
I saw it with a bunch of bawling Baptists. I think the cinematography was of high quality, and enjoyable to see. The violent nature and how it was shown is probably good for us americans to see as we are so over protected.
The main point that amazes me is how various peoples of "faith" can see this movie and not get what was happening: a human being trying to show others a better way of being, by setting the example. But no, the religious and political leaders were more interested in their own power and control. Fast forward to our "enlightenend" times and the "freedom" we have, and what do we have? The same setup of control and power--political and religious. I just think its all BS.
i used to think negativity was necessary in order to get a balanced view of a subject that i was analyzing.
part of a critical thought process.
i have decided that this is incorrect.
What workes for me, is taking the absolute out of things and making them relative. I try not to feed the polarities, but balance them out.

my time just ran out....

my preferred social construct would be a group of 5 to 10 men sharing space, chores, well everything.. if i were heterosexual i think i would prefer the same situation, 2 or 3 families living together and sharing all.. actually i believe this should be a worldwide goal, total community in every sense of the word.. i see no advantage served by social and sexual diads.. please explain it to me.
I like the extended family arrangement you often see in asian households. It can be efficient economically. But, I also think that if the wrong person lived in that set up, and tried to boss the others, then it would become unpleasant and a drag.
I would be willing to explore a small group of couples living together, but not sleeping together. And maybe not living in the same house, but say, on the same farm or small plot of land.
I wish I'd known you were here, there are so many things to see.

by nuclear war, i don't mean 2 bombs like in japan back in 1945, but something much worse, like half of the population of the us being destroyed in a nuclear conflict.. probably jw's would say, no to the question because they think that their work of salvation is soooo important that god wouldn't permit their destruction..
This is the danger with believing in a personal controlling God. The responsibility for what mankind does is assumed to rest in the hands of a deity.
The governments make these weapons and they have control over them. Pretending talk to talk to a personal God may be comforting but it is dangerous because it shifts the responsibility from us as humans. We should be talking to the Governments not God.
Right now Bush is God. Ask the people in New Orleans who they are asking help from. Bush and his government or God? Reality is a wake up call!
Yet so many of the Gawd-freaks don't even get this simple concept: It would be a human being pushing the button, not God.
