By nuclear war, I don't mean 2 bombs like in Japan back in 1945, but something much worse, like half of the population of the US being destroyed in a nuclear conflict.
Probably JW's would say, No to the question because they think that their work of salvation is soooo important that God wouldn't permit their destruction.
This is an interesting question. I remember during the early '80s, at the height of Cold War nuclear war paranoia fears, despite all the Watchtower-generated fears of Armageddon, I felt somewhat safe and secure in my belief that God would stop things before they amount to a full-blown nuclear war (because the Society said so). Now, of course, I'm not so sure.....
IF there is a doG.....it seems to me he/she is content with simply watching mankind suffer and wouldn't want to get it all over with in one whack what fun would that be?
I do not know. What I do know is that Jehovah would not ALLOW the earth to be DESTROYED by it. He promises that he will not ALLOW the earth to be ruined and that it would endure forever. Revelations says he is going to bring to RUIN those RUINING the earth.

I know that God can and will bring back the planet to a paradise state one day, but would he stop the useless suffering if Nuclear war did happen.

Oh sorry. I dont see why not. Half the population is either starving to death or perishing from aids. Whats the difference?

The REASON why God PERMITS (not causes) suffering is another story.
of course he would permit a nuclear war! since he doesn't exist, he is powerless to stop one! plus, his track record for stopping other disasters is, shall we say, wanting.
