thought america and norway tied for best-head and shoulders above the rest; then england, belgium, canada and the arab woman who sang in her native tongue also rocked
I know I'm being biased... but I liked Kelly. She's awesome. She does have some "showmanship" issues to work out, but they will come with time and experience. She was definately the best. I also liked Will from the U.K. and the PanArab Idol.
an elder and his wife were in my apartment building this morning.
i live on the 3rd (top floor) and i heard someone walking up the stairway very slowly and silently.
so i went out the back door, down the staircase and up the front staircase where they were, and i saw them at the neighbors door, 3 feet away from mine.
You know, I was sitting here thinking, "Wouldn't a 'Shepherding Call' have accompished their mission of 'catching' inactive ones celbrating Christmas? That would a more 'loving' way to do it." Then I realized, they only want to put on the "loving" face if someone else is watching. But, if they are sneaking around, no one is supposed to know what they're doing. So, they don't have to put on all that fake crap about caring for the "flock."
I'm glad you caught them, JH! I hope they pee'd their pants!!!

Next year you should put up a sign that says something along the lines of:
HEY! I know you're only spying on me! But, you're just making a fool out of yourself. Oh and you're also freaking out the lady next door and she's dialing 911 right now!"
over the past few days it has come to my attention there a lot more people here who have kids who were raised as jws but are now free because you, the parents, are free.. some kids seem to do very well with thier new-found freedom.
other kids seem to struggle with old fears implanted byt the wts.. i remember when i left.
it was hard on my girls.
Lady Lee, YOU ROCK!
What an awesome person you are for this!
so many of us on this forum have criticised the watchtower society for their obscene blood transfusion/fractions policies.
quite right too.. it begs the question though; what are you doing about blood now that you have a more tolerant and informed perspective?
it's a rhetorical question.
Yup, same here Morty. I stood in line to give blood after 9/11. Being so far away from ground zero, that was one ways that many Americans felt they could help. I felt a great sense of pride knowing that all these people were here because they wanted to help. It was one of the best feelings in the world. Then...
I answered the questionnaire, and was told that I could not donate blood. Yes, I could have lied. But, I stopped lying about who I was when I left the JWs behind and I wasn't about to start lying to the Red Cross!
Sorry to go off on that tangent, but I'm still a bit bitter. So, to answer the question:
I would if I could, but I'm not allowed to.
what is christmas to you?
if you were raised a jw, as my children were, getting used to christmas takes time, and does not carry with it any memories.
for others who became jws later in life, it took time to get over christmas and learn to discredit the custom and lose feelings for it, and in some cases even learn to hate christmas as an evil pagan evoluton of apostate christianity.. .
For me, I try to make it all about my family and friends That would be my REAL friends, you know, the ones that still talk to me!
this is the first time i say, "merry christmas" back to someone.
It STILL feels weird, but each year is better and better. After holiday shopping this weekend and getting almost everyone on my list taken care of, I'm almost excited about it. I still halfway look over my shoulder when in the "Christmas/Lawn & Garden Center" at Wal-Mart, but then I remember, "Oh, yeah! I don't care!"
if you could have anyone thing for christmas, what would it be.
it can be, an actual object, or sumthing you'd really like to happen.
but, what do you really want for christmas?
To give my mom another grandchild. I HAVE to be a better parent than those people who let their kid stay the night at Michael Jackson's. WTF were they thinking? I mean, come on... even if he's innocent of molestation... he's a freak. And everyone knows, you don't let your pre-teen son spend the night with a 39 year old man!!!
And a million dollars. That would be handy to have, too.
how's the weekend been treating you?
here on the eastern seaboard of oz we've had some really hot weather - at least the suddenness of the hot spell made it seem all the hotter!.
another thing we saw this week was the rural roads around bethel chocked once again with tourist coaches full of bethel visitors who were taking advantage of the "privilege" of visiting the australia branch after the international convention was over.
Yeah, my family was the type that anywhere we went during the convention, we had our badges on.
