I wish that people could leave the WTBS and not lose their JW family. Of all the evil things the Org has done, I believe this is the most offensive.
And, if that doesn't work....
I wish I had invested in Microsoft or Wal-Mart when they first went public.

Feelings of an active JW
by XBEHERE ini have been lurking on this board ever since the may 2002 broadcast of that dateline on the subject of child molestation.
that show made me realize that the wt may not be speaking for god.
well naturally i discovered the truth about the "truth" over the past 21 months.

When I'm sick, pretty much the only thing I want is a grilled cheese sandwich. When he's sick, he wants jello. Oddly enough, the thought of grilled cheese and jello sandwiches totally grossed us out!
What is your comfort food when you're sick?

Please, please, please NOT Bush! I honestly don't believe America can take another four years of him.
For me, I guess it boils down to the question: Is my life better after three years of Bush leadership? Hmm... lets see. During his presidency, I lost my job. Which lead to being unemployed for six weeks. Then, I was underemployed for two years. I went from making $30,000 a year to making $17,000; but I still had the same bills. This lead to us losing our home. The sad thing, this is happening all over America.
The Democrats are going to have a hard battle for the White House, but I believe they can take it back.

Another survey from Lee
by Lady Lee inreading simon's post about how things used to be i started thinking about how the internet has changed things.
many believe the internet and the freedom of information it contains will be the undoing of the wts.. when i was a jw, there were a few dfings but maybe one a year or even less.
people drifted away but we really didn't pay a lot of attention unless it was a close friend.. in here we see new people coming in all the time.

I love surveys, too! Here are my answers:
- What year did you leave? 1996
- How old were you when you left? 24
- Did the internet have anything to do with your decision to leave? Yes, but not in the way you might think. I had bought a computer and subscribed to AOL starting in 1994 and began to meet people and make friends within the gay community. In time, I learned to accept my sexuality, not reject it.
- If you left before you got on the internet what reading did you do about the WTS or cults that helped you make your decision? None. It never even occured to me to read any 'apostate' literature. Seems simple enough now, though...
- What was the one most important reason that helped you decide to leave (even if the decision was made for you through a DFing). The need to be who I was "meant" to be. I could no longer live the lie. I kept remembering the Bible verse that say that God hates a liar. If I kept pretending to be a straight man, and marry an innocent sister to perpetuate that image, was I not lying to everyone, including Jehovah?
- If you left and still thought it was "the truth" what helped you change your mind? Honestly, there was that nagging little voice in the back of my mind that kept telling me, "You know they're right. You know Jehovah will kill you at Armageddon. You know you should go back to the KH." That little voice would rear its head every so often in my dreams. This would be in the form of my friends begging me to come back to the "truth" before it was too late. I started researching on the internet and found this site to be most helpful. Without it I never would have learned about the UN or Vicki Boer and her treatment by the WTBS. These two issues were the ones that helped me erase my doubts. Last week I had the first of my "dreams" in several months. This time, my friends only wanted to check on me to make sure I was okay.
