having done field service in the uk, i preferred working streets as opposed to blocks in the us.
working "blocks" was confusing, as more often than not, we would have no idea which way to go, or how far to go.
at least with a street, you could work over and over and completely cover it, and not have to write "stopped at 125 xxx ave".
I actually preferred rural territory; I sometimes only had to go up to one door in 2 hours if we had a car full.Blondie (who took no dog houses)
BINGO! Rural territory was the best! Thankfully, it was 90% of our territory!

despite the parents objections, a duval county, florida (jacksonville area) judge ordered blood transfusions for a baby born prematurely.
interestingly, even the aclu did not side with the parents.
see "judge overrides parents on giving blood to baby.
First, I'm very glad that this child will get the chance to grow up (even if his parents are JWs).
Second, did this seem wierd to anyone else?
The baby's parents, Deliah Floyd and Doward Carter, are Jehovah's Witnesses, and their faith prevents them from receiving treatments that include blood transfusions. Both parents refused to allow their son to receive a blood transfusion, prompting the hospital to seek legal intervention.
I'm not trying to pass judgement in any way. It just caught me off guard when the mother and father had different last names. Are they divorced and she took back her maiden name? Or, did she not take her husbands name when they got married? Just made me wonder...

as a regular pioneer and even if she gave a gift, she'd be removed as a pioneer!
this woman is 80 years old and has been pioneering for over 40 years.
my mother also is a pioneer in a different congregation and she is wondering whether this is a new rule from the society or is something that the local congregation has decided.
So that's what they're talking about when they say they have real love amongst themselves....
I hate to hear that your happy event is being spoiled by the Witlesses.

it almost seems like this non-study article takes a perverse pleasure in allowing witnesses to "keep their trials" instead of ending them.
how would you fare with a trial?
do you want trials?
Though we do not needlessly jeopardize our lives, we would never use unscriptural means to avoid persecution.?1 Peter 3:16.Yet, another example of WTBTS hypocrisy. In Mexico, as we all know, the governing body condoned the illegal practice of bribing officials to obtain a bogus "cartilla" so that the brothers could unscripturally avoid military service without having to go to prison.Corvin
Well of course they wouldn't jeopardize their lives, Corvin. The situtation in Mexico was all about Real Estate. Which I'm beginning to see that the WT values above all else. The Mexico/Malawi issue is the 'straw that broke the camel's back' for me. It is the ultimate example of how the GB doesn't care for the rank and file.

ok for those that dont remember spent the last few months coming out as gay, leaving the borg and getting hassle from family.. .
any way an up shot of this is i got really behind on the teaching course and decided it was to much hassle to quit.. .
spent some time trying to contact my tutor but he was away / busy so sort of forgot.
Rick,
Sorry to hear about your situation. Debt sucks. The WTs control over your family's opinion of you sucks. Moving sucks. But, focus on the fact that you can now be who you were meant to be.
And, as Ohio Cowboy said, this site is a great help. No matter who you have in your life, they will never understand what it was like being a JW, unless they were one too. My partner tries sooo hard to understand where I'm coming from, but honestly he doesn't get it. I come here to work out my frustrations. I have always felt welcome here. But, there are other websites that are specifically for Gay ExJWs. There is a link for the MSN group in the "Links" section of this site.
Being gay is hard enough, but throw in being a JW on top of that and it just complicates things. Hang in there. Things will get better. Use this board as a resource. It's helped countless numbers of us already.

i wonder how many parents signed the consent form.
I wonder if any of the kids got beat up for their Nudie Show money, instead of lunch money.
