While I'm at I might as well re-post this one too, given the topic and that it hasn't been viewed much. It's about a guy finding a good life for himself after being DF'd, all the while wishing the WTS weren't there in his mind.

all those emotions about being controlled and repressed, being told what you can feel or think or how to live, blindly following the "brotherhood ".

NeverKnew: For some reason, I think of Jwism whenever I listen to some songs on Pink Floyd's "The Wall."
So do I. Roger Waters wrote about alienation and loss in The Wall. He was thinking about rock stars falling out of love with their fans (as he did), but JWs and XJWs suffer the same feelings too. I think that's why there's such a connection felt by some here with The Wall specifically. See if this version of the classic 'Mother' from The Wall strikes a chord:

just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

I take this image to mean ‘we are no part of the world, but she is’. And ‘she is part of the world, and you are not. You are the faithful people who are happy and united, and we value our happiness and unity over the fine clothes and superficial beauty which led her to sin. We are happy with our humble looks, daggy clothes and happy hearts’.
A subtext seems to be that you are unattractive to the world, you look grey. You only find happiness at the KH where you are accepted for who and what you are. So long as you fit in.
When I made this little film, subverting one of their awful videos, I put the happy ‘David’ in color chatting to his buddies at the back of the hall. Then into black and white as he gets the two elder treatment, JC and gets announced and falls apart a bit. Then back into color when he calls a buddie and gets a job. Last scene is him leaving the KH for the last time.

One of my main problems with the WT: A very irresponsible organization
by Hidden-Window inone of my main problems with the watch tower and, more specifically, with the governing body is the level of irresponsibility seen when lives of people are involved and their unapologetical attitude when people suffer due to their absurd policies.. how many people were imprisoned or killed for refusing to perform civil service in exchange for military service?.
we do not know, but it does not matter, because the society does not even apologize for the harm their blinking light caused.. how many people died or contracted illnesses due to the prohibition of vaccines?.
we might never know, but an apology is not on the menu.. how many people died for refusing (or disfellowshipped for accepting) fractions of blood when it was against the rules?.

They take no responsibility at all. But the 'blood guilt' (to use their term) builds up.

David falls into despair as his familiar world crumbles into one of unemployment and isolation. Then David calls an old friend who helps him get a new job. Love follows quickly. Last, we see David leave the Kingdom Hall forever, finally realising his 'Wish you weren't here, wish you'd disappear" hope of moving on from a life dominated by the publications of the Watchtower Society.
