It's Over Johnny....The Demise of Jehovah's Witnesses
by ctrwtf ini think i've mentioned before that from time to time my commute on the bqe takes me past the old factory buildings and the soon to be former headquarters building.
i was struck the other day with how shabby they've become.
even 25 columbia heights, still currently occupied, its facade is filthy.

Do you feel bad throwing away literature?
by stuckinarut2 inso do you feel bad throwing away your old literature?.
what about your old song book or bible from your early days in the org?.
if so, is it because of sentimentality, monetary cost or because it might be 'sacred' ?.

I just throw them away. Guilt is a product of watchtower that I've mentally left behind! -

The difference between old school dubs and modern dubs - and the GB 2.0
by TheListener inold school witnesses thrived on the fact they were different and persecuted for it.
it was a point of pride.. i think the whole witness experience is much more social based for younger and newer witnesses.
that may be why so many newer ones that come to this board cannot understand or accept some of the information we present here about how things "used to be".

I'm one of the younger members here. (Early twenties) I do remember the older rules, I've also read of them before even lurking here. Don't be so dim on the youth.......they may be baptizing them at nine; but many will wake up later! -

Letter From My Elder Uncle
by freemindfade inok guys, this is long, so i am sorry, but i think it is important to publish.
this is a glimpse into a 4 page letter (love that song) from my uber elder uncle.
as some of you may know i got tired of being in an email chain and finally lost it and lashed out.

I browsed through about 90 percent of your published material. I agree with DOC, don't waste your time, or risk your fade with too much of a reply. Just simply thank him for his concern, and tell him you will prayerfully consider his points. (and don't follow up to his future contacts) -

would it have been different if we knew why?
by sowhatnow ini always took issue with the idea of no one knowing why a person got df.. i know im not alone.. i complained to my mother about this when i was younger, explaining that how do we know what it is that gets a person df if no one knows what they did?
my moms answer was , .
'if people knew a persons personal faults and what they did , others would not be so forgiving when they were reinstated, because we'd always view them with that view, so in other words, if when so n so, committed fornication, and the whole cong would know it, if they announced from the platform then his/her reputation would be permanently stained' .

It is a dual edged sword. It would: break privacy laws in certain countries and tarnish their reputation. BUT it would also cause divisions in the congregations as some (naturally) wouldn't agree that the sin was so bad (like your hoarder). Moreover, it would make the Rank and File privy to information, and thus make them party to judging the decisions of the BOE......never may that happen. -

I love it! Great comments Blondie, if you were to give these at the hall, I would sincerely walk up and compliment you! (not just the pat on the shoulder, "good rehashing sista!") -

Semi Home Study Based Charter School vs. Regular School
by SonoftheTrinity ini blame my stepkids bad grades in school squarely on the watchtower.
they don't get enough sleep because of the demands of family bible study and thursday meetings but comprimise isn't in my wife's vocabulary.
my stepson has friends at school but there are also bullies, and the classes are overcrowded with sicknesses spreading through them in a way that is detrimental to the family's health.

The mormons site even includes a chat option, to speak with one of their missionaries. I once used this to ask the mormon missionary about their view of the witnesses......they replied with confusion and disconnected.
I once saw a Scientology reqruitement banner on Youtube.....I wander to the site, and they too have a well designed website which manages to hide the deeper, more disturbing things of their faith.
Good thread Stuck!

From the article, I infer that the Mormons are less likely to excommunicate someone for apostasy; JW's do it every day!
