Blind Guide Dog.... Erhmmmm
by CloseTheDoor ini saw this on facebook.
i'm nauseous from reading.
it's just another example of how some will go so far to make up bs and pawn it off as "truth.".

The sad thing is that the GB encourages the repeating of these 'not so truths' (errh... lies) at assembly talks, instead of saying, "Really? A dog brought him into the truth? REALLY? Let's stick to the facts, brothers." They allow the JWs to feed on this tripe because it gives everyone that goose-bumpy, feel-good-all-over, clap-till-your hands-get-numb feeling during the last talk at the conventions. -

I was speaking to an older CO who was of the anointed. To make some other point he read this scripture. When he finished reading, I observed that Jesus didn't answer Pilate. The CO looked at me and said, Yes he did!" Wha...? Years, and I mean like 20 years later, I saw a WT that attempted to answer the question. It took that long for the spirit guided WTBS to respond to such a universal question: Why didn't Jesus answer him? He could have explained one of the most fundamental questions asked by man right there! Whatever his reason, he failed. The guy who helped create the earth and everything that exists, surely would have known how to answer that in a way that would have made his case for all future generations. I think he didn't have the answer. As has been mentioned in earlier comments, It could have been taken as a conversation stopper. Or, Jesus might have felt Pilate would not have accepted anything he said. But, I think it shows the lack of wisdom in the Bible writers that they posed the question at all. It shows God's Son as not having an answer. It shows a government official being the one to have the last say over Jesus' message, in no uncertain terms, shutting him up. Jesus, in effect saying, I have an answer for everything else, but I don't have an answer for that. -

With all the furor over the JW's cash strapped pleas, I'm surprised no one noticed a different issue with this broadcast. It was HISTORIC! Did anyone else get that? Yes, all 7 of the GB have broadcast in the 7 months of the channel's existence! Is that not HISTORICAL?
But, wait. What?
Given that it is a group who believe that Revelation prophecies were fulfilled by giving a talk at a Cedar Point, Ohio Conventions*, I guess it doesn't take much for delusional minds to make something over any trivial thing.
But, the idea of impressing on gullible people that this makes it a Historical event. smh
*Athanasius11 years ago
I've never been to Cedar Point, Ohio. But did you know that half of the prophecies in the book of Revelation were fulfilled during conventions that the JWs held in that city? http://bit.ly/1GRuAy6

WBTS / JW views never quoted as good source of information
by menrov innot sure if my title is correct.
what i noticed is that in say secular bible research documentation, books, lectures etc, one never (or at least i have never read it) reads a quote from one of the former or current wbts leaders nor do i ever see a reference to one of their publication (unless it is article about the jw/wbts itself).. for example, if you read a book on a bible theme or topic written by a scholar or other bible teachers/professors from prof xyz, you will find often in these books a reference to publications / statements / quotes from other scholars or professors.
but never have i seen a reference to say a wt publication or quote / statement from one the leaders of the organisation.. so, despite the million page printed or conferences organised by the wbts, the material apparently is never considered of value to others or to use as reference material.. in my view, that says a lot..... or am i wrong?

Because JWs have made it their obnoxious stand to say they are the only true religion and everyone else eats **it, why would anyone want to give credibility to this insanity?
My sister-in-law uses two Catholic Pocket Bibles to make a point in service. The older edition has J's name in it, the more recent edition has it replaced with "Lord". I explain to her that it is for the same reason: Anyone who insists on adding J's name in their translation might be viewed as agreeing with the jWs, so, in this instance, the Catholics have taken it out. They refuse to take God's name in vain, 2nd Commandment.

Golden Rule: Pure Garbage?
by willmarite inon another thread a poster made the comment that the golden rule was garbage.
she said it was arrogant and made assumptions.. i didn't want to derail that thread so i started another wondering if this is a common thought about this belief on this forum.
i guess i naively thought the value of doing to others as you want them to do to you was generally accepted as positive.. i understand people have different opinions of jesus as a person but i don't want to get into that here.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you is a rule of conduct, not action. It doesn't pertain to offering people food or things you like. It is more a reverse idea, as Buddhism teaches - do not do to others what you yourself don't like (which was spoken and practiced well before Jesus' time). For instance: I don't want you to spit on me, so I won't spit on you. Not, I like to get slapped for laughs, so let me slap you. -

is there some way we ( whoever may want to ) can donate a small amount of money to the wt that will cost it more to collect and process than its worth--a net loss?
[/quote]If everyone sent them a check for $.01 they'd set it aside. Once they begin to stack up and amount to a large sum, they'd eye it and greedily get their hands caught in the proverbial monkey trap http://bit.ly/1KP1frO
On a different note: Lett's expressions, rather than being an indication of Tourette's Syndrome, to me, are the visible manifestations of a person who is trying hard to lie with a straight face. It is like a gut-wrenching guilt expression. The down-turning of the mouth when he speaks of the urgency (starting at around 17:00) and rattles off numbers . I agree with gorby, it is psychological, a tell that someone is lying.

Whoa! Thanks, Finkelstein!
Those are so appropriate to the thought. Interestingly, I had posted this on other JW sites. But, I read one of your comments here from a couple of month's ago, where you said and I quote you:
The WTS has been inspired to sell and proliferate its published literature for a long time now by exploiting the belief in the bible and the people who they were inspired to lie to.
In reality how can an organization that self proclaims itself the solemnly chosen organization from God here on earth and not be inspired ?
All the false and misleading teachings this organization has produced were offered to mankind as they also self described themselves as the FDSL, but actually were they as in (1918) when they were still teaching Pyramidology.
Maybe the Watchtower Corporation was a fraud all along, a commercially inspired fraud ???
I was immediately reminded of this. The man was a huckster! -

Satan: "You certainly will not die!"
Rutherford: "Millions now living will never die!"
When Satan told his lie, Adam and Eve both died despite his assurances. Rutherford assured millions of Jehovah's Witnesses that if they believed his teachings they would not die, yet they all died. Where the first lie was a myth to explain good and evil, the second lie was used to deceive millions into following a false religion. What are we to make of this?
For my part, when I think of how blatantly we were taught this lie, heard it promoted in talks and literature, I realize that this is, without question, is a false religion on a Satanic scale.
