What is dating as a JW like
by UFCFan infirst off i want to say that i'm a teenager which makes my situation interesting.
i don't want to give too many details in case someone i know reads this but i'm between 14 and 18, homeschooled, and i've been awake for around one or one and a half years.
i already have a plan to attend usc or wisconsin university if i'm smart enough to get in and then move to san jose and try and get a job working for a hs football team or with a soccer team, since i want to coach sports or be an agent.. now, this all sounds great in theory but there's one thing i've been thinking about that makes me doubt my plan.

Go to college! You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. We tell our kids you have a lifetime to get married, have kids, buy a home, etc., but you are young only once....enjoy that time. You only get it once. I know I sound like a parent, and I am, but it's hard to concentrate when you are building a relationship, having children or paying a mortgage. The more distractions you have the better (right now).
Enjoy your youth!!!!

Don't panic. They are just people. Don't give them control. Play your cards right and ignore them. They will give up eventually. -

Funny story about dumb JW rules
by cookiemaster insome years ago (the year when i got baptized), i was at a district convention (or whatever they call them these days) with my best friend.
he had a part in one of those acting parts at the convention (i have no idea the term jw's use for them in english).
anyway, we were both seeing through the bullshit of the borg but weren't aware at the time of this forum or other "apostate" groups, nor of the full extent of the perversity of this religion.

Funny thing...I started waking up when I was about 14 years old. Too bad I didn't act on it. The only positive outcome was a wonderful lifetime mate (who exited this cult with me) and wonderful kids. Thank goodness for that!!!! -

Make A Wish Trip to JW.ORG
by konceptual99 ina sick little girl goes to ny to meet caleb and sophia for her make a wish trip.. http://www.kmph.com/category/170789/video-landing-page?clipid=11142038&autostart=true.
i don't want to make too much comment as there is an innocent and poorly young girl at the heart of this but i do have to wonder what the purpose of the parents courting the media's attention over this really was..

Cute little girl and a sad story.
Funny how the parents made sure they plugged JW dot org. The t shirt and pin on the Dad's shirt.
Make a wish is a fantastic organization. I fine it interesting that the JW organization has sold millions of dollars in Real Estate and is building their new resort in NY but can not afford to send a family to Brooklyn on their dime (to see there own facility). All take and no give. Nothing new!

Lots of old timers are scratching their heads over that one. They may not ever leave this cult but the are scratching their heads. We hear it all the time from the older family members. -

Has anyone heard any Watchtower PR spin or censorship advisory announcement at the kingdom hall regarding the child abuse story on NPR?
by Island Man ini remember some years ago when barbara did an expose of the child abuse issue on one of the networks, watchtower used the elders to inform the congregations not to view the program that was to be aired.
.
after this recent expose on npr, has there been any official watchtower release read as an announcement at the kingdom hall?.

How many JWs really believe the end will come "soon"?
by BU2B inthis topic has been on my mind lately.
i have been looking around at jws and wondering how many truly believe the end is as near as they are told.
from my personal experience, i know that my parents fully believe the end is imminent and may come any time now.

If you look at alot of the older ones they have that WTF look on their face(s).
How many Elders have their kids in college? Are they buying into the "end is just around the corner?" Unfortunately, some still buy into it but not as much as they used to.
We have watched our aging family members have to struggle financially and physically (due to menial labor jobs). They have that WTF look too! They never thought they would be where they are today. We NEVER thought that way. We got some education (not as much as we should have), got married, bought a home and had kids. Thank goodness we lived our OWN lives and not the Watchtowers!

What comforts you when you no longer believe in a ressurrection ?
by EdenOne inour family just lost someone dear and very close, a faithful jw.
as we went through the entire funeral services and meeting long time brothers and sisters, who in general have been very kind and warm towards us, we realize that the hope of resurrection is a meaningless utopia for us, like a fairytale for little children.
we don't have faith in it anymore, and serves us of no comfort.

That I lived my life to the best of my ability. That we raised great kids that have respect for each day they are breathing. To have happiness (something we can have today not in the future) and health. Have great memories of the ones we have lost. To accept that we too will die and hope we have made a positive impact on someones life while we were here.
