  you guys wouldnt believe how many jehovahs witnesses shop in the goodwill.

  I used to frequent Goodwill when I was still in. Buying all of the dresses, knee length skirts and kids dress clothes. Now I buy new Sweat pants, jeans and anything comfy. I donated all my meeting clothes to Goodwill. That was a good/happy day. My closet is as neat as a pin!

  Sorry you had to leave your job because of this cult.

  It's interesting #1(see questionnaire) they need "exemplary Brothers and sisters." #5 (see questionnaire) "If the elders are aware of other qualified baptized publishers (including sisters) who possess certain skills, the elders will provide the publishers with a copy of the questionnaire."

  I guess they will take anyone they can "USE." Two classes of people, the exemplary and the qualified. No shame!

  My "best" friend (active JW) has just died

  johnny santa cruz and i met around 1959 at a movie theater in fort worth, texas.. the purpose of that meeting was to create a fanclub for horror movie director william castle.

  a week or so later, johnny stopped me as i was walking home from elementary school.. "hey--i think i know you.

  weren't you at the william castle fanclub thing?".

  Awww, you "love and miss us"? Really? Then why ignore us?

  so we received the obligatory "shoved under the door" memorial invitation and "return to jehovah" brochure the other week.

  it also had a hand written note from two elders saying "we love and miss you" etc.... so why then when one of them saw us at the grocery store, did he pretend to not see us and then ignore and quickly walk away?.

  the sincerity is wonderful..... dont get me wrong, we dont want any attention from them, but it's an interesting observation anyway.....

  Translation: We are not encouraging anyone to pursue higher education, we want TO USE brothers and sisters who already possess the skills we need for "theocratic projects."

  Did you participate in a Drama?

  i am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience.

  camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.. back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program.

  we had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation.

  Nah...we were never "spiritual" enough to be in a drama. Only good enough to take the speaker to dinner, clean the KH and scrub toilets. We were ok for those priviledges.

  out for a long time

  my husband and i have been out for a long time, maybe fifteen years, i must say we are in a bit of a nowhere land spiritually, we find it impossible to attend any other church.

  we really resent so much of how they messed up our and our children's lives.

  we can't get back all those 25 years we were in.
