Someone anonymously tipped the elders?
by raven inso here an update on my current situation, in a nutshell i've been trying to quietly fade for the past 5 months.. well, my mom somehow found out that i am currently fading and that i live with my boyfriend (for more info on this check my previous posts) i told her yes i live with him and yes i no longer want to be a jw.
anyways, yesterday she met my boyfriend.. awkward.
and after lunch she pulled me aside to tell me that the po came up to her (he was part of my jc when i was reproved) he said to her "someone came to me and said - i cannot say who so they will remain anonymous- but that your daughter is living with someone" my mom confirmed and apparently he told her that i have one week to confess this, and if i don't my parents are obligated to tell them everything.. what kind of nonsense is that?

Raven,
Please tell your mother. Your attorney has advised you. You will not be meeting with the elders unless your attorney is present. A written statement from your accuser(s) must be presented to your attorney three weeks before any meeting. Please provide the name(s) of all elders that will be present during the meeting.
Don't give them control. It is your life and you have rights too! They hate it when you mention lawyer or attorney.
Enjoy your life !

JW said they are unique
by StephaneLaliberte inlooking at a news article, i read the following:.
“that’s one thing that’s unique about jehovah’s people,” said marty mettler, a spokesman for the green bay convention.
“they even tell the hotels when they book they’re coming because some people book and don’t show.

I am currently sitting here watching the news. Each day I see stories of evil "worldly people" that are trying to help others that they don't even know. People that are collecting items or money for ones who have lost everything. The JW's act like they are the only ones who assist others. I have come to the conclusion that if they came out of their cocoon they would realize there is good and bad everywhere. There are good JW's and the not so good JW's. This applies to the world in general. They can not and will not look beyond the JW world they are involved in. I truly believe it is an obsession. -

For all of the Lurkers out there that are being held hostage by this organization, due to family and friends. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLETS. If you can't outwardly "stick it" to this organization that has abused and continues to abuse so many, DON'T DONATE! The best revenge is to hit em in the wallet!
I think donations are down and doubts are up. That is a good thing!

How was your wedding?
by BeautifulMind inhow was your wedding?
did you have a jw wedding or something different?
my wedding was not what either of us wanted at first, but it turned out very lovely.

We had a full on JW wedding. 300+ in attendance. Had fun. It was in the 80's when JW's seemed more caring and supportive. No judgement on your spirituality (the JW tasks you perform). Life seemed simpler and more like a family. Sad how things have changed. The organization has created little monsters.
The status we had before we left (losers) would have never been accepted in this day and age.
What a sad thing to have to write!

JWs in denial, so sad
by Simon ini had a couple of jw sisters call at my door today.. they started with the bizarre "can we read you a scripture" and read about "death being no more" and asked what i thought of that.. i said it sounded like a mix of disney and dumb.. they then launched into how god was going to put an end to death and wasn't that wonderful?.
i said it would have been more wonderful if he'd not created death in the first place.. they thought man created death by disobeying so i questioned why god couldn't have just forgiven them.
apparently "because he loves us" is supposed to be a satisfactory answer to why he kills us.. i asked how loving it was to kill hundreds of thousands of children in tsunami's, disease and so on.. at this point, they gave up on the 'god is love' and switched to the bible being true no matter what because it was an old book and moses had written the first chapter (says the book).. when i suggested it really wasn't that old and that most of the bible myths were copies of older stories from before it was written they questioned if i studied the bible and theology.. then i told them i was brought up as a jw so knew it was all crap.. now it was game on, they immediately switched to play defence questioning why i'd left (and i think they'd already taken a step back away from "the evil" obviously emanating from me).. not much time to say much before they cut and run so i told them i'd left because i found out it was all based on lies and that the watchtower was corrupt and covered up things like child abuse.. oh no, you're thinking of the catholics one of them said (some disdain in how she said "catholics" as though "we're so much better than them").. "well, i challenge you to do a search for the australian royal commission and you'll see the testimony the watchtower leaders gave and the damning evidence that they covered up abuse and reported none of it to the police.".

Great job.
It's amazing how many of the uber dubs know nothing about what goes on in their own religion. Some that do know, just stick their heads in the sand. I believe those ones who know only stay in for the family and friends. Like they all say..."where else would we go?" Crazy!

We always remained realistic.
Graduated high school.
Got married.
Bought 2 homes
2 great kids
Love to spend time enjoying nature
Now we are preparing our 2 children to survive on their own and make a life for them and any future offspring.
The only thing we did not do was go to college. We have been very fortunate to always have good employment and always try and keep our medical benefits. We have kept our expenses down, just in case we one day loose employment.

The smug arrogance of "having the truth".
by stuckinarut2 inhas anyone noticed that witnesses (from the top down) seem to have a quiet form of smug arrogance toward all non witnesses?.
perhaps it comes from being told how "special and unique" they are but they end up looking down on all normal members of the community because they are not witnesses.. so any form of "love" they show those in the territory is also limited as long as they accept the message...otherwise they are viewed contemptuously as "worldly" and therefore of little value...after all, they will be destroyed right?.

All you have to do is listen to Anthony Morris. You talk about smug and arrogant! Not a humble bone in his body. The zone meeting a year and a half ago really put the nail in the coffin for us. The part about 23 year old men who are not MS's. He stated that these men are not good marriage material. Why would anyone stick around where they are not wanted. That is just one of the many things that prompted our fade.
One thing that we have noticed with some JW's. They do think that they are better than the average "worldly" person BUT if some find out they have money or something that will benefit THEM, then they will make some concessions. So many "gypsies" in the cult. These ones are looking for the next person who can put money in their pocket, provide housing or a job. These "gypsies" are typically need greaters, pioneers or Bethelites.
