  Ending Bible Study

  i have been studying with jehovah's witnesses for approximately two years.

  initially, i liked the studies and felt that i was growing closer to god.

  however, as the studies progressed, they seemed to become increasingly negative and i did not like what i was being taught.

  My niece recently stopped studying. She is baptized but drifted away years ago. She won't tell me why she stopped studying but did mention to me that she feels ignored by most in the congregation she attended. She remains in contact with her study conductor, whom she really thinks highly of.

  I don't want to be cruel to my niece but once the witnesses see that you are not "progressing" in your studies they re encouraged to drop you as a study. What is meant by "progressing?" You must attend meetings, field service, assemblies and you must become one of them. Just tell them you are not interested in studying and they eventually will leave you alone. There are some very nice JW's but once you let them know you will not move forward with the religion, they will be nice but guarded by your presence.

  My niece thinks highly of her conductor but once she did not "progress" they way they wanted her, they pretty much dropped her. Me, being a born in JW, I knew this would happen eventually.

  My spouse and I are born in JW's and left the religion 6 years ago. It was the best decision we ever made. We lost all of our "friends" and our family treats us very differently. Some will have nothing much to do with us. Our children too. We are not disfellowshipped, we just left the religion. No sin committed. This is how they are encouraged to treat ex members. It is sad but true.

  Getting away from them will be the BEST thing that ever happened to you. Trust us!

  hi everyone, i got the news that the lawsuit against the watchtower for the child abuse issue has been accepted in quebec(canada).

  that means it can proceed further.

  it is a first victory.

  The awful treatment of my disfellowshipped cousin still continues

  my cousin was disfellowshipped twenty years ago when he was 18 years old.

  he admitted to the congregation elders that he was fornicating with his ''wordly'' girlfriend.

  the elders were following him and hiding in their cars to see what he was up to.

  i'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.. they're digging themselves a great hole here, in about 30 years time they'll be claiming this video was a mere "speculation" and that "some people" got the wrong ideas..

  Yes, you are right there. Kids are watching it. WT doesn't seem to care if they scare kids or talk about sexual things, while in the presence of children.

  Fear is a manipulative tool. My spouse and I are ones who are not easily impressed by those who NEED to impress or are we easily swayed by others. I guess that is why we are OUT!! lol

  WT is sick and they don't seem to care how they come across. Maybe that is why they are heading to the courtroom so much.

  WT has always used fear but seems to be ramping it up in their videos. They have always had the scary pictures in their publications but the use of videos can really get the emotions stirred up.

  This will work FANTASTIC on our current JW families. They all have been so sheltered from "the world", they can't see straight. Some have had no children or ever married. Some have been home schooled, been Bethelites or Pioneers. Some have never had a 8 to 5 job in a corporate environment. They have been self employed and very sheltered. "The world" is a scary place for them!!! When we talk with them it's, "satan this and satan that."

  The scary horns, evil eyes and sharp teeth of the beasts will keep our families "in line". lol

  It works on most of the JW's and that is why WT continues to use it.

  after all, "at this time,over 13,000 kingdom hall projects and 35 assembly hall projects are needed worldwide.".

  hmmm, not too sure about that but all the recent re-branding seems to be heading .

  Shaking hands when reinstated

  anyone remember when someone was reinstated after the announcement they congregation would shake hands and hug?

  then they announced a new rule that this was inappropriate to clap or hug, shake hands, that the newly reinstated was only doing what they should bla bla bla.

  I wasn't an Elder but I am one of those "sisters." lol I used to dial in and listen to the sisters talk the night before and copy it. It was a great way to write a difficult talk that you didn't want to do. I would give the talk and leave right after I gave it. Kids have homework and Mama's got a bottle of wine with her name on it at home. lol

  Funny how now that I am no longer a JW, I very rarely drink anymore!! Wonder why!!!
