  A joyless memorial

  many years ago i started a thread entitled 'a religion with nothing to celebrate' (https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/80630/religion-nothing-celebrate).. prior to about the year 2000, our congregation met in what had previously been an old church.

  we purchased it and even though we had little cash, made the place beautiful.

  it had real character, with beautiful wood work and we even managed to keep some of the stained glass windows as they weren't religious in nature.

  Yes, the "intimacy" is long gone. Years ago, we had a fantastic book study group. We actually enjoyed hanging out with this group. The home we met in was my parents home. There was goody night and many anniversaries were celebrated after the book study. On Saturday's we would all go out to eat after serve us. It was nice.

  Now, I don't even know where some of those people are. A lot of them have died and others are in their old age. It's sad. It seems like WT took the joy out of everything, even it's people.

  Quick builds were fun. Everyone worked hard and pitched in. Something our children will NEVER experience.

  Those good ole days are gone!!

  you decide.. {they stopped by yesterday to invite my wife to the memorial.. my wife is fully awake thanks to one of my daughters!

  Just an observation after being out about 5 years and family

  i think this can be said about all religions and cults.

  people are in them and want to be in them do to social reasons more then anything else.

  one prime example is my oldest boy.

  Yes, it is frustrating to watch. I believe JW's NEED others in the org to survive. They are scared of their own thoughts.

  Typically what happens is something happens in THEIR lives that impacts them personally and then the find out who their "friends" are. Some people have to touch the fire and feel that it is hot. Others know it is hot and stay away. I like the boiling frog analogy that someone else posted. It is so true.

  We have watched our family experience abuse within the org all of our lives. They go back and make the excuse, "they are imperfect men." I really think they are scared to be without it. They have invested too many years to leave.

  I hope one day your son can see it for himself.

  His Rose colored glasses are back on

  so my husband who was not attending meetings for the last four months, went to the special talk, the memorial and the meeting today.

  he said he feels jehovah’s spirit is back and that they are all being so kind.. i am just sick to my stomach.

  he just refuses to see anything as a problem.

  this past weeks watchtower study, reminds us that jehovah provides guidance in the publications and in programs from faithful slave!

  now you hear from the platform that god has given us jw broadcasting and jw.org.

  lets see: thought wt says they have no special connection to god, nor special knowledge, they get no extra holy spirit, gods thoughts higher than mans???

  3 years out and 3 memorial invites in one day!

  hello everyone i just wanted to give a quick life update as it is three years since being out of the cult.

  i’ll never forget missing our first memorial back in 2017 as it etched in our minds that we were never going back to watchtower.

  these last years have been amazing especially since izabella has been home with us.

  Your video was wonderful. Even if these video's help just one person to get out of this abusive and corrupt cult, it has done it's job.

  We received 3 invites to the Memorial as well. Not in 1 day. That's incredible. 1 voice message from a family member, 1 email and an invite left at our door by an Elder. It seemed they were being more aggressive this year, with the invites. I think WT is worried about the numbers shrinking. It also confirms that there are tons of people leaving. Yay!

  What's so disturbing, these same people that invite you will shun you at the drop of a hat. It makes no sense.

  We are happy to hear that you and your family are doing well. Success stories are the best!! Hugs to you and your family!!!

  If true, WT seems to be getting more and more up in peoples faces and in their business. Holy crap, they're in everyones bedrooms, now they want their jobs too? Is it me or is WT "poking the bee's nest" on everything? Maybe ramping up the "persecution complex." This organization seems to be getting crazier by the day!!!
