I used to drink after the meetings (alot). I know how you feel Cappytan. Once I left I now enjoy an occasional glass of wine. I REALLY enjoy that glass. I no longer need a straw in my bottle of wine. It's a wonderful feeling.
It goes to show the the effects of this cult. I know lots of alcoholics that are still in.

I am glad Cedars got to say his last statement to Morris about him being deluded. Any other issue Ceders would have raised, i.e. disfellowshiping, blood, UN affiliation would have been handled the exact same way...a hang up. This is how these guys, roll...run, run, run. They can't answer so they run!
Brother Morris stood in front of over 1 million people (some very good people who would give their last dime or meal to these guys) and insulted everyone.
Let's go beyond the tight pants thing . We have several family members who are going through some tough times (all JW's). Having to struggle financially in their golden years with hard labor due to pioneering back in the day. They are struggling with aging and health problems and Morris makes the statement that some feel Jehovah understands my situation but then goes on the say "that's not the Jehovah I know." Really? How do you think that statement made the ones sitting there feel, that have health/age issues, that have given their all in their youth?
Shame on them for what they have done to some wonderful people that I know. The GB knew he was giving that talk (he had given the talk in Italy before the US) and they were all behind it.
I am pissed and I'm glad someone got to call that so called loving Brother deluded! I wish I could have personally done it myself!

i've been trying to figure out the purpose of the new (bland, commercial style) building that the gb is pushing.
it is not a design that attracts attention, nor does it offer a lot in future resale value.
it will be more difficult to build than the wood residential style buildings, meaning they can't use their cheap unskilled labor force for a lot of the work.
i've always suspected this was the wt society's view when i was in the jehovah's witness organization - but never knew the head of the writing committee karl adams had written a letter to nathan knorr ( then wt president ) recommending a change regarding reporting field service time as it wrongly emphasized jw members being seen as mainly being approved due to field service statistics - instead of emphasizing christian qualities of love, kindness, peace, etc.. karl adams had been personally handpicked by nathan knorr to be the head of the writing department.
in 1971 he wrote a letter to knorr which he wanted shared with the entire governing body as well .

a woman who claims jehovahs witness elders failed to protect her from a predatory sex attacker who repeatedly abused her as a child is now battling for 500,000 compensation.. the woman, in her 20s, was molested by ministerial servant peter stewart over a five-year period in loughborough, leicestershire, in the 1980s and 90s, londons high court heard.. the trauma she suffered derailed her education and career, and led to harrowing nightmares and recurring thoughts of suicide, her barrister, james counsell, said.. matters came to a head after she passed out on her bed next to a pile of paracetamol while on holiday with her husband, having left him a suicide note, he added.. soon afterwards, she had a bad panic attack - triggered by seeing a collection of jehovahs witness literature.. that led to tense discussions with her husband, and her final decision to take legal action, mr counsell told the court.. the woman - who cannot be identified - is suing the trustees of the watchtower bible and tract society, alleging they are vicariously liable for stewarts crimes.. stewart was convicted of entirely separate offences of sexually abusing a schoolgirl and a young boy in 1995, said mr counsell.. he died in june 2001, aged 72, shortly before police arrived at his home to arrest him for sexually abusing the claimant.. stewart was an apparently respected and devout member of the congregation in loughborough, the court heard.. however, he repeatedly preyed on the girl between the ages of four and nine, using his position as a ministerial servant to commit these acts.. he molested her in a variety of situations - including both before and after and sometimes during watchtower study sessions, mr counsell claimed.. his attacks took a catastrophic toll, leaving his victim prone to vomiting at the memory, and with complex feelings of guilt and shame.. stewart forced her to keep silent by telling her that what she was doing was fornication and that she was sinning, the barrister explained.. he warned her that when armageddon came - a regular topic for general discussion at group and congregation meetings - she would not be saved because of what she was doing.. it was precisely because much of the abuse took place at public - and at jehovahs witness events - that she could not always avoid him, added mr counsell.. the woman first mustered the courage to disclose her abuse in 2000 - after hearing of stewarts imminent release from jail for his offences against the two school children.. stewarts former jehovahs witness congregation began an investigation but failed to contact the police, said the barrister, adding that the inquiry appeared to go nowhere.. that alleged inaction intensified her feelings of anger and the woman finally went to the police in may 2001.. but when the police went to stewarts home to arrest him they discovered from neighbours that he had died, added mr counsell.. the barrister alleged that jehovahs witness elders had known about stewarts activities with young girls since the very early days of the claimants abuse and had failed to prevent it continuing.. it was stewarts authority as a ministerial servant which allowed him to gain contact and befriend his victim, said mr counsell.. the abuse was committed while he was performing tasks to further the interests of jehovahs witnesses.. lawyers for the trustees are defending the case, insisting that proper steps were taken to protect its members and that stewart was not performing a pastoral role.. their counsel, adam weitzman, said he disputed that the elders were negligent and denied that the trustees could be held legally responsible.. he pointed out that, from 1991, stewart and the woman ceased to be members of the same congregation.. stewart was never an employee of the jehovahs witness congregation and the trustees owed the woman no legal duty of care, he argued.. mr weitzman said: while it is accepted that, from august 1990, the elders knew (stewart) had sexually assaulted another child, there was not sufficient proximity between them and the claimant to impose such a duty.
nor would it be fair, just and reasonable to do so.. the high court hearing continues.. .

my mother in law lost her husband to cancer recently.
so feeling lonely and been pushed by her sister (active witness) after not stepping in a hall for 20 years she went to a sunday meeting.
one meeting where she had the surreal experience of having to watch a "special talk" on jw tv.
I agree with Flipper, you need to warn her. This abusive cult that disguises itself as a religion is the most abusive bunch of "Brothers."
I also agree with JWdaughter, the Elders (this is in the secret Elders book) get a free pass but not her after 30yrs? Hypocrites!!!

Unfortunately the Society/Branch/Organization is much to busy supplying the flock with more important matters such as entertainment for the delegates for International Assemblies, showing up for Zone visit talks regarding tight pants, spanx and Brothers who can't quite achieve the 23 year old MS mark. Oh...I forgot..bright socks too! Oh...I'm not done yet...Making a new Bible, creating a JW Broadcasting website and supplying the flock with a new video regarding how Higher Education is EVIL and new cutesy songs about the literature carts. Our new resort and fitness club in Walkill. Buying luxury apartments and motels. Designing new Kingdom Halls. Emptying the bank accounts of congregations. Making Billions selling properties in NY. Shall I go on? If I continued I would be on here all day.
You see...they have more important things to worry about than those pesky issues in the Philippines.
Those statistics are nice but no one will ever see them. Next time you go to an assembly ask to see the accounts for the day. Do they match up with "deficit" they announce? That is why they will never share the statistics with the rank in file. It's a shell game and as long as everyone continues to donate, it will continue! Vote with your wallet!!!
